Like so many suggestions a few years ago, this was my first Swiss automatic watch and I still absolutely love it! Thanks for bringing the Khaki King up. I've seen so much love for the Khaki Field but very little (and much deserved) love for the King. It's my go to watch every evening when I get home from work and change into my comfy clothes. It looks awesome on an old brown leather strap and extremely comfortable.
Excellent review! This is the next Hamilton I'm saving for, if I don't win that is 😁 I'm going for a 3 Hamilton collection, this then the green scuba and I've got the Interstellar.
I 've own this watch for about 10 years and I went swimming with it plenty of times without any issues. I even did a bit of free diving and the watch is still ticking. I love it!
I wonder how close to 100 m wr it is my friend. Hamilton know that is a poor indicator to us watch people! How much engineering and testing would it take to bump up the WR to 100?
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Not very much. I guess without a screw down crown it can't withstand that pressure. Other than that, I think the watch is good to go.
Excellent choice for the field watch giveaway MWC! So much to like with the Khaki King. A perfect daily wear GADA watch and a slightly more spruced up version of the down and dirty Khaki Field Mechanical. I’d personally always prefer to sacrifice that 80 hour power reserve for a smother sweep but I know a higher power reserve is something people do care about and lowering the beat rate on an otherwise stock ETA 2834 is a really clever way to extend that power reserve but not need a new bespoke movement which must help keep costs lower for us punters. Absolutely stellar job with the edit MWC! Felt so slick and even more professional than usual. Talk about upping your game 🙌
Excellent watch, excellent video, seeing Mr. Pagani nearly $#!+ himself.... high marks all around!!!!! Thank you so much, Russ. Your quality, dedication and passion is something special and very much appreciated.
I normally don't watch the videos until they are publicly released. I couldn't wait to see this one. I am on the hunt for a Hamilton khaki, and I trying to decide between the champagne Khaki King and the Silver Khaki Field. I appreciate your showing the grooved track around the dial. I hadn't picked up on that detail in any of the photos I have seen.
The first few years I was only losing a second a day. Then it started losing around 8-10 seconds a day. Never fully got the 80 hour power reserve. The watch couldn't quite make it from Friday to Monday. I guess it was in need of servicing. But only after 3 years? Outstanding watch for around $300.
I own the quartz version it only cost £350 and I got sent it thinking it was mechanical but when it arrived I was miffed for a day or so but now I'm glad Francis's made the mistake cost less no service and more accurate perfect for what I wanted in a field watch IV enough mechanical watches so it's a great wear with no worry time piece
It’s a great point William. Let’s face it ! If a general had the choice back in the 60’s to use Quartz or mechanical he’d 100% choose Quartz for the reasons you’ve stated here!
Being a Contrarian. I bought a BLUE Dial Hamilton "Interstellar'/ 'Cooper". I love it. The White Day & Date Wheels are why I chose the Blue Dial. The White Day & Dates, on the Black Dial; would have driven me M.A.D. - NUTS.
Love the watch! The hands and that dial really do it for me with the concentrical circles it's practically a sector dial. At least on the 12th of each month it'll seem as though the 12 is there :D As for the video itself it's nearly flawless. It's hard to get bored watching anything made by you, so many videos are just talking heads/hands and almost monotone. Not here! Keep it up, Russell. 👍
Jason you are a gent thank you! If my show is similar to what is being done then it’s pointless doing it! Trying to keep true and original is always hard when reviewing a watch!!;)
I like the look of the king but I went with the khaki field automatic 38mm due to the 100m wr rating. Been scaling down my collection recently in favour of smaller case sizes and the 38mm wears perfectly.
I love this watch. The day date complication is amazing and it's ready for any occasion. I bought one a few months ago for wearing to work. It also stopped me buying a khaki mechanical because when you have the king why buy anything else?
I really love my Hamilton. I purchased the brown dial version though on the leather strap. Even though it says brown on the Hamilton brochure it is really more of a champagne look when shown in light. A very modern take on the traditional field watch as we know them and it can be worn with any dress attire being slim on the wrist and having the day/date function. I have had mine for three years now and the time keeping is very good in my own experience. I purchased mine in a sale for £350 so a very good deal for me.
Mate i really hope you blow up as a watch reviewer. the amount of work you put into your videos is above anything else I have seen. Also I love your "what the wife says" part because lets face it. we all want to have a female perspective on what we wear since it adds to our image. Also as a fellow tennis player/coach of course. Regarding the Hamilton it is my daily watch. I have a Khaki field officer 44mm that fits well on my large wrist . I bought an after market leather band and i treated it with water repelent (the one you put on leather boots) and I wear this watch to tennis and the band does not absorve sweat . I also ocationally forget to take it off to shower and the band dries up as quick as rubber.(just make sure to threat the holes in the band too) The band I bought was from Deep Blue since they have lovely affordable leather bands for 12 us dollars. regards from Miami Fl!
It's funny how people often say it looks far better in the flesh, but I saw this in a shop window one day and I thought well it's funny how people often say it looks far better in the flesh cos this one certainly does. That day window and the font looks great. Very smart.
I remember those original manual-wind Khaki Pilots being offered for sale (ex-military issue) on the back cover of Exchange & Mart 40 years ago. They were £9.95 plus 45p postage. I foolishly sold mine a few years back - I still miss it. Thanks for a great review Russell, I totally agree with your point about the low waterproof rating. Great field watch..... but don't get it wet!
Hi Russell, I owned one of these models, champagne dial, but sold it as I needed the money. I miss her but I think her new owner in Australia loves her as much as I loved her...
Great looking watch! Hamilton is definitely on my desire list. This one or a Jazzmaster Viewmatic auto. Loving that you were able to buy and review this with the proceeds. All the best!
I have this watch with a brown leather band. Though it does look understated and classic, which some may perceive as boring, I think it's a cool watch, and I enjoy wearing it.
Great video as usual. My favorite Khaki is the mechanical 38 mm classic black dial even tough i have to admit that to choose is difficolt, because the whole Khaki line is amazing.
Great review. Quite like it because of the day/date set up. Great engine, decent enough bracelet. Fabulous power reserve I love as it means less faffing around.
Good job on the vid mate, I do think it's your best so far. I think your brother would agree about the good value of Hamilton Watches! I love Mr Pagani, is he a distant relative?!! :)
A beauty of a watch, and an excellent review. This is a really pretty watch, and I could see it being part of a three watch or even a two watch collection. My personal favorite in the Hamilton line is my Hamilton khaki mechanical. But then again, I'm a sucker for a hand cranking watch. I always look forward to your wife's comments, but this time I think she's a little off. Keep them coming!
It’s a superb watch but yeah the 50 meters of WR is a surprise plus dubious loom. That said it’s deffo one that if I saw in a shop window and her indoors had wandered off for five minutes I’d sneakily buy. Excellent vid.
I think you hit the nail on the head. It's a nearly perfect field watch, but the 50m WR feels out of place. I think the other Khaki Field Auto's provide a more complete and consistent design.
My champagne dial gives a more dressy/daily driver vibe. The polished bezel lifts it, and the OEM bracelet from the black dial fits it no problem. Bought that, and still love it as my daily office watch. Dressy but sporty. Classic....
Absolutely class with a touch of class from a class individual Russell you nail it every time, keep up the great reviews and content your a very talented man
I’m just chuffed that because of these shows I get to meet top guys like you Ian! Appreciate this a lot (keeps me going!) have a good rest of the week!
Great video! I love how you worked in the outdoors walk and talk especially for a field watch. Next we need to get you in the water for a diver! I have this watch with the champagne dial, and even though I am a bracelet guy usually, this is the one I always wear with either a brown or black leather strap. Suits the dressy vibe of that dial IMO. So in a perfect world I absolutely also need a less dressy black one on that great bracelet. Fingers crossed!!!
Fab choice! I was hoping for a Hamilton in the field watch category. The depth of the dial is outstanding, however it is a shame the lug to lug is longer than Lord of the rings trilogy.
hahahahaha yeah that's the only thing! I felt the field mechanicals lugs looked long when I had it on a leather strap which is why it stayed on a NATO!
Great video! I own a Khaki Field Automatic, the one with just the date and no day. I struggled between choosing this one or the King you just reviews, it was a hard decision to make but I am happy with this one. I think the simpler dial is less cluttered without the day and I also love the red tipped second hand. I agree, the lume isn't the best but it gets the job done. And also, yeah, a screw down crown and more water resistance would make it the perfect everyday watch. One of my favorite watches in my collection and it gets a lot of wrist time. I'm looking forward to the blooper real, have a great day. -David
I have a khaki field automatic as well in titanium. It’s an awesome watch. I just had it on wrist while I had to wrestle a drugged out hobo and place them under citizens arrest
Thank you my friend! Got to say I like the slightly different to norm day date positioning, different to anything else I own. That red tipped hand on the auto is killer though!
Cheers Russ, the Khaki King is a great watch at decent price, it’s hard to beat the value for money. Have you checked out the Steinhart Adventure yet? I, myself, have the Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date “Interstellar” which is awesome. I don’t how mine is 100m water resistance and the King isn’t. Doesn’t make sense, but agree it’s probably the only weak point that Hamilton should do something about.
Very funny, entertaining watch review. A great offering from Hamilton. I have a Hamilton mechanical khaki myself. Got it for a 100 quid out of a pawnbrokers in Glasgow. 😁
Great videos brother. I love hamilton they feel diffrent from any other watch I have worn but in a classy way. I have never owned a khaki though. Thanks for the heads up on the interstellar! I have a 6.5 inch wrist and won't be buying it especially if you felt it was too big 41.5 and maybe 42 is the biggest I can go, but many times the crown digs in when I bend my wrist to get up cause I'm a fat ass lol
Eli! thanks for watching my friend! Yeah as the Interstellar hardly has a bezel, the whole diameter is practically the dial face so will look big but that's a pilots watch for ya!
Hamilton makes some beautiful watches. I settled on the Khaki Field Murph. There are so many to choose from. The Pioneer Mechanical Chrono is another vintage inspired beauty. Congrats in advance to the winner!
I've fallen in love with their Intra-matic. A manual chrono is my grail (ok, I already have the Speedy). But having to swallow hard on the price. Then again, I turn 60 this year...
Personally my friend after getting that beauty which can work as your daily/dress you should get the Field as your weekend/beater. What a 2 watch collection that is!
Mate a class video!! Loved it and superb editing as that took some doing I know. Mr Pagani nearly soiled himself seeing that caseback and I literally pissed myself too! Lovely watch, lovely community and look forward to you posting it out to me shortly 😂 Never owned a Hamilton to my shame…
Michael thank you so much fro watching the show! Yes it were a few files but as the edit flew really well it didn't take too long! Hahahaha well you never know!!!
Great looking piece! I’ve never noticed the concentric circles, or I’ve confused a couple of Khakis for one another! Weird about slowing down the movement! Was wondering where EIGHTY hours of power reserve came from!!!
Me to my friend! Thats why I love going deep into a watch!:] The Automatic's the raise 24 hour circle but not the record player grooves for the man numerals. Its an attractive watch when it comes to dials!
Love mine. Bracelet as I have had poor luck with leather wristbands. Kind of a (very) poor man's Rolex Explorer. Hugh Laurie wears one. Not that an actor knows much . . . but I tend to believe he does. Jeeves, Black Adder, friend of Stephen Fry and all. Though I didn't learn this until after I had purchased mine . . . I still find it life affirming. Not my entry level Swiss. I have a Hanowa dive watch I bought in Geneva in 1973. 23 Jewel mechanical. Still works fine. I wear it when sailing and kayaking.
Great video Russ, really enjoyed that. On a slight change of subject, I know you’re a tennis coach and I wondered if you might be at Roland Garros over the next couple of weeks? I’m here working for The Tennis Channel and wondered if you might be free for a coffee and a natter?
Mark! gret to hear from you! Hows the diving going? Im a tennis coach for beginner/intermediate to club players my friend [bread and butter] I steer clear of performance tennis less fun. But fun to watch obviously! Have fun yourself my friend
This has all the same issues that bug me about my mechanical. Shame Hamilton haven't updated these with ar, better water resistance and slightly shorter lugs. Then they'd be just about perfect. But don't see that happening anytime soon. Great work with the review mate
“Do not grow old, no matter how long you live. Never cease to stand like curious children before the Great Mystery into which we were born.” - Albert Einstein
I like the Hamilton field watches but haven't followed through with buying one yet. The long lug-to-lug is one reason I've hesitated since I have thinner wrists. I hate it when watch lugs do that whole hang-over-the-wrist thing. Still, I do like the styling and design of many of the Khaki models. I really just need to find somewhere in my city I can try one on.
Russell great choice for the watch raffle/ lucky winner!! Like the way Hamilton do their day/date complications on their field watches! But they do deserve some stick for the low WR rating! Cheers mate
Cheers John! I wonder if they will ever change that WR? Do they know it should be improved? If they watched enough YT reviews they would want to do it!
I really like the champagne version, has a horrid yellow outline on the day/date window though 🤦♂️. I own the kfm but I reckon the best all rounder is the kfa.
Its not a bad call my friend. I like the record player grooves on the outer dial and day date configuration on this one. If they made this 38mm then take m'money!
The Water Resistance is, indeed, the Achilles heel of this watch. If it was 100m I would already own one. With 50 m I have to look at it as a dress watch and there it falls short.
Great review, but it’s not a sapphire sandwich . The display case back is only mineral glass so prone to scratching by the bracelet if you lay it down.
I’m wondering why the H logo on the crown is not the same as on the back? It’s a classic one (regular H), I would like to see it modern, like on the back. For me it’s a showstopper for buying this model.
Great review! This Hamilton has been on my radar for awhile now. May have to pull the trigger. I think it's a toss up for between Hamilton and Tissot for best entry level Swiss watch. If you're gonna roll field watch definitely Hamilton but any other type I'd personally go with Tissot. Both great companies with a ton of heritage. At the end of the day Swatch gets the money! Hahaha
Both are great watches. I have both a tissot and a Hamilton can’t really go wrong with either. I just had to wrestle a hobo with my Hamilton in and it held up well so definitely something to consider for that application
Cheers for watching Noah! Ive really tried to get into Tissot, there is just something about them that feels 'entry level swiss' polished parts in places that look out of place and look a little off. I don't get that with Hamilton. The PRX is a huge cash grab aswell as the auto looks more like a Royal Oak HOMAGE than the watch its celebrating from its history! [Why i like the Quartz more!] Hammy I don't think would do that. Both under the Swatch Group so they probably have ! REPLY
I'd recommend the quartz no service more accurate and £350quid and bullet proof I got my quartz by mistake from F&G glad it happened who wants to service such a inexpensive watch new battery and of you go mines has never run out and owned it from 2019 and a black strap with white stitch beats the steel bracelet or brown leather hammy issued with it depends if you are a quarts hater but the khaki king Q is top notch
Lovely piece I heard so much about Hamilton, some day I will own one, great content as always, the green Seiko looks good on you,,, keep us interning....👍👍⌚
Please please review the new aviation chrono pioneer mechanical........you would be Mad Not Too !!!!! Excellent vid as always and Ryan at F&G must be happy to see your credit card again 🤣🤣🤣
Great show, sir. You’re getting pretty good at this. I love this watch. I own the Khaki auto, so I haven’t felt the need to get this one. There’s not a whole lot of difference between the two. I would love to own it though. I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed. I sure hope Mr. Pagani’s groin is ok. Ahhh! Mr. Pagani’s Groin Cream….what a great product name.
Good Point Dan! I guess the Case shape and the outer record player dial with the day date stuff is sort of enough difference! Can Always get the champagne dial? You never know!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR The Khaki Auto does come with the same record style grooves. It looks like the exact same dial except for the day/date at the 12 o'clock, and subsequently the 24 hour marker being shoved downward a bit. The case is the biggest difference for me, including the addition of crown guards. This piece is a stunner, although the lume is quite limited. Yes, the champagne dial looks very nice. I need them all!!!
I’ve always thought the Hamilton Khaki King is the Rolex Day Date for the average joe. Packed full of decent specs and a whole lot of watch for the money. It looks really easy to read too. I’ve accidentally worn watches with only 50m WR in the shower before and they seem to be working fine still although, you’re right, I probably wouldn’t want to risk it with a watch that looked as nice as the Hamilton. RE. The show. They keep getting more and more professional and informative Russell. Good on ya lad! P.S favourite Hamilton at the moment is my Hamilton American Classic intramatic although I’m yet to acquire a Hamilton field watch!
Top guy thank you Nelson! Yeah was a bit tongue in cheek that comment, the watch would be fine in the shower getting wet, we as watch enthusiasts love to see that 100 m WR somewhere on the watch!!:]
Like so many suggestions a few years ago, this was my first Swiss automatic watch and I still absolutely love it! Thanks for bringing the Khaki King up. Absolutely! Hammy never disappointed

Chaz! Thank you so much for watching! Yes I may have this on a leather strap to my only concern are those long lugs! A Nato it would probably be!
Great review Russ, smashed the like button!
Very kind Daniel thank you!
Just found you on here and loved your content straight away...Subbed.
You are very kind! Thank you fo finding the channel my friend! Welcome aboard!!!!!!
Yep, the long lugs are a problem, I had a khaki but felt the lug to lug was too long and I have a slightly larger than average 7.25inch wrist!
10 out 10 video as always. Every time I see a Hamilton reviewed I want one. One day, maybe this one! Cheers.
Ryan!!! Thank you so much for watching and your continued support my friend!!!
I have this in the champagne dial. Love it.
Yeah love that one!! Not many dials like that one!!
Great video! I bought this One 4 months ago. I'm very glad I did.
Yes my friend, nailed it as always. Excellent review, made me chuckle. Field mechanical for me though russ, keeping it simple just like moi 😝
Im with you on the simple my friend. With a collection of watches i'd choose the FM to but if I had 3 watches only, this would be in there
Great review Russ, really enjoyed it and the shots you done outdoors is a nice addition 😊👌 keep up the great work mate 💯👌
Richie! Apriate you watching the show! Yeah! Keeps the pace of the show going doesn't it!!!
@@WatchUnwind Right on!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Both are great, like I said, I was flip-flopping back and forth between them. Have a great day. -David
Its so much moree of a sportier case its a mind boggler why the WR isn't an improvement to the other Khakis!? Thanks for watching my friend!
I love the khaki king! I always remember seeing House wear it and I thought it looked sharp!
Thank you for watching my friend! Everyone of there watches has been in a film or tv show! Its crazy!
A very good quality watch in my view a gem in its price range .
Very funny, entertaining watch review. A great offering from Hamilton. I have a Hamilton mechanical khaki myself. Got it for a 100 quid out of a pawnbrokers in Glasgow. 😁
That is superb my friend! Thank you for watching! All the best to you!
Another awesome and entertaining video Russ. And a great watch choice for the giveaway. Excited.
Thanks for watching Mark!
The Khaki King on a Strapcode jubilee bracelet is my daily. It's a good watch for women as well, since women are wearing larger watches these days.
Absolutely my friend! Thank you for watching!
I need to get that mechanical Chrono in don't I!
Ooooh, the Murph! Nice watch!
I've fallen in love with their Intra-matic. A manual chrono is my grail (ok, I already have the Speedy). But having to swallow hard on the price. Then again, I turn 60 this year...
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Abso-lutely! 😁
@@LymanPhillips The Intra Matic is gorgeous. Jody from Just One More Watch picked one up recently. Pure class Hamilton!
Thinking about getting one, I have the khaki Field officer mechanical 38mm at moment,
I've just bought my khaki pioneer and I'm in love with it, but still I want to get a khaki field or khaki King, which one would you recomend me Russ?
Personally my friend after getting that beauty which can work as your daily/dress you should get the Field as your weekend/beater. What a 2 watch collection that is!
Mate a class video!! Loved it and superb editing as that took some doing I know.
Mr Pagani nearly soiled himself seeing that caseback and I literally pissed myself too!
Lovely watch, lovely community and look forward to you posting it out to me shortly 😂
Never owned a Hamilton to my shame…
Love the show and great review!
David you are a gent! Thank you for watching and all the best
I really love your videos! You can make any watch look interesting 🧐! Keep on the good work!
You are very kind my friend thank you very much!
Thanks for your thoughts on this watch and humor! I would rather have a Willard or Mad Hacker though😊
This has all the same issues that bug me about my mechanical. Shame Hamilton haven't updated these with ar, better water resistance and slightly shorter lugs. Then they'd be just about perfect. But don't see that happening anytime soon. Great work with the review mate
Thank you my friend! Appreciate you coming over to watch! Yea I don't see it changing tbh. Maybe with the newer reissues.
Love the King!!!! Looks killer w black rubber strap. I need day and date and top of dial is terrific. My new daytime favorite.
Yes! I’m a huge fan of the Khaki King. Great review.
Thanks for watching Michael!
Hamilton khaki titanium pvd coated from jack ryan shadow recruit bought it when first came out and still love it 👍
Hi Russ
Great review on a nice looking watch
But I am leaning towards a Tissot
Best Regards
Go for the Tissot Ali! Thank you for watching my friend!
I have this watch but with the champagne dial. I wear it on a black aligator strap. Amazing watch, very accurate, I love the power reserve
Very nice Ryan! Ever tempted in the more versitile black dial?
Khaki aviation pilot pioneer w internal bezel. My fave hamilton. Underrated imo
Perfect size but bought the all black 42mm titanium automatic instead. Love the titanium's lighter weight despite a bit oversize for me
Phillip! Thanks for watching. Lovely! Doyou wear that as your daily watch? Always wonder why people buy the stealthy mechanical watches
Just picked it up at my AD Today 35% off!!!!!!!!!!!! $400!!!!!!!

Amen!!!
I have 6.25 wrist and my King wears great. Give it a try.
Get it on the wrist and try it my friend!
The Khaki auro 38mm has a lug span of 47mm, which fits my 6.5" wrist nicely.
Not keen on the watch but I have to see the video to make my day and have a few laughs to cheer me up. Thanks
Pietro I’ll always be here for that my friend! All the best to you in whatever part of the world you’re from!!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR UK 😉😉
Good point Jeffrey! Thank you for watching!
Great review, but it’s not a sapphire sandwich . The display case back is only mineral glass so prone to scratching by the bracelet if you lay it down.
Thank you my friend
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I agree the quartz is definitely the way to go if you're gonna grab the PRX.
Lovely piece I heard so much about Hamilton, some day I will own one, great content as always, the green Seiko looks good on you,,, keep us interning....👍👍⌚
Ricardo !! Appreciate that my friend thank you!!
Love Hamilton. It also is a more personal choice for me as they used to be a US company in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which is where I live
Please please review the new aviation chrono pioneer mechanical........you would be Mad Not Too !!!!!
Excellent vid as always and Ryan at F&G must be happy to see your credit card again 🤣🤣🤣
Im on it!
I need them all!!!
have to say a great value brand ..looks well built ...a brand I'll have to take a look at
Cheers Mark!!
Great watch, even better video!
Top lad thank you London!!
Deffo Nelson. Day/Date for the people!!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR totally agree and 200 would be even better! Haha
This is my next watch ! I like the day display and everything about it . It will be my daily watch i have decided
Its a great choice my friend!
Nice watch but have to agree regarding the 50m rating WTH? Mr. Pagani cracks me up!🤣 Thanks for the review bud. All the best!
Seeker! Appreciate you finding the channel!
