I am so happy to run across your video. I accidentally scrap a wall, and your tutorial was a live saver, I'm a 56 yr. single woman doing repairs around my house, my sons were busy, so I did it myself, and I was able to go to home depot and do a color match for $3 ( if you bring them a quarter size , they can match any color, cost me almost $10 for everything, I'm going to put a second coat today, and paint it tomorrow. THANK YOU !! THANK YOU !!!

@@paulus4222 Yeah, I guess "northern hemisphere" is a pretty broad brush...Canadians too tend to beat around the bush too. It feels like they are trying to fill the time slot, but I think they focus more on setting the scene etc...still useless waste of time for me.

Good Day Can this method be used to fill hairline cracks in Garage concrete floors? I plan on painting my my floor with rustoleum epoxy floor paint. Do you think that will fill in hairline cracks. Thanks
Epoxy paints can vary in viscosity so depends on the paint it might fill some of the hair line cracks. You could always apply one coat and fill what ever cracks are remaining or decided which cracks will fill with a second coat and fill the ones you know paint won't fill. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.
Yes on old plaster you should open the crack a bit mainly to get rid of all the loose plaster etc. This is cement render and its a lot harder, it generally gets hair line cracks which can be filled as in video. Don't forget to Like, Share & Subscribe
Would I use the same method for a concrete foundation wall? I had a foundation pro check the hairline crack and he told me to paint it but I found out if I use a sealant, it will keep water out. I live in the floodplains so keeping water out is very important to me
You could use the same method but you will still need to paint after. There is a product called brushable bitumen, its a membrane that will stop the water, its often used for painting inside of guttering and rain water tanks to stop leaks. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.
No, you would use linseed oil putty or an external fill, gap sealant isn't the best product to use when filling nail holes. You are better off using a product you can sand smooth. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.
@@howtopaintinfo thanks. Do you think it wicks water ? I have noticed afew cracks and when I looked under house at piles i could see where it's leaking rain water through to the concrete skirting
In interior cement board wall there are some cracks , so is there some specific material or way to repair the cracks in cement board wall. I used Teeraco joint compound .
A flexible filler would be good as cement sheeting is very ridgid and the slightest knock on the wall might open up the crack. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe
"when they get to certain size you will have to fill them with a compound filler rather than a caulking compound". Can anybody tell me what would be what in the UK?
@@davy999 I think a compound filler is like Builders bog and is not flexible, and Acrylic sealant is flexible and is made from Acrylic resins; probably best to use a flexible sealant in a crack which could move
Depends on how large, there is a point when it should be filled with a filling compound and a good measure would be if you can put a coin in the crack then a more solid filler should be used. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.
You can try to scape it off or sand but make sure you don't start sanding off the render or you could be left with a worn area that will stand out. Don't forget to Like, Share and Subscribe.

You would be best of using an internal filler rather than gap sealant.
