bass + drums isn't exactly MY idea of a "mix". If they show us how it sounds when playing something like Green Day, then Iron Maiden, then Rush, them Primus, we will get a pretty damn good idea of how it truly sounds in the mix
Man that's a close one and funny story I actually have this problem happening at this very moment in time. I bought the Sans amp about a month ago for music go round I was there the other day to buy a distortion pedal and they kind of seen the mxr and I like the way it sounded with the distortion. But it also has a really nice clean tone so I have both the Sans amp and mxr... I LIKE THE MXR MORE, FOR BOTH CLEAN AND DISTORTION 🤫🤫
I own both too (RBI version of the sansamp but really, théâtre the same) and I have to say, using the mxr in the sansamp is just perfect if you're into agressive bass tones !
I don't like how fizzy the MXR is when you crank the OD, I have the pedal and I like it because it's sounds natural but I wish the gain was more like the Sansamp. I run my MXR paired with a Berhinger Vintage Tube Overdrive T0800 but to keep some low end I back the tone off to about 10 o'clock. It works pretty good, I've come to find out that a few of the bands that I like their bass tone on their recordings actually used a Sansamp and not an SVT like my ears were telling me.
Wait, in that section with the gain on the M80, you have the 'Blend' knob all the way to the right, so why is it mostly the clean channel in the mix? At least on my M80, 'Blend' at max means only the overdrive channel should be heard.
hello, i have the old Sansamp v1 You hear quite a bit of noise (with 9v battery) if you turn the Blend, Treble & Presence all the way to the right (& turn up the Drive more) That seems to me or is normal with these types of preamp pedals? probably also audible with normal bass amps? more dependent on the quality of the amp Naturally.. When Blend is turned all the way to the left, the noise largely disappears and the sound spectrum then changes for the most part. If the LED is off (not active tone control) then it will be a DI with a passive signal. We'll see how it holds up on one pedalboard, but it's really useful to have this there.. thanks for the advice
The Sans Amp has the mids where the MXR wants to scoop them out for a more clean sound. The MXR sounds the best solo but I think the Sans Amp focuses on the frequencies that are more of 'your part of the playground' as a bass player in a band. I think both fit any application but I'd personally go with the Sans Amp in a band setting to use up all of those juicy low-mid frequencies.
I totally agree, I'm thinking of getting a Sansamp or even tge Berhinger version because that one isn't too far from the real deal. I have the MXR but with too much on board gain ot gets fizzy so I use an external drive pedal.
I have an mxr m80 and mine sounds way better than the recording here. It's close the sansamp recording here but without the grit. I don't know why this recording sounds very different than one in real life
Отвратительная отстройка MXR. Положи бас и больше не подходи к педалям. Владел и той, и другой педалью. Конченный сансамп даже приблизительно не показывает ноздри рядом с м80. М80 выше в пищевой цепи - кратно.
The mxr shines where it matters, in the mix!
You are one of the only comparo channels who does it right! Great job please keep em coming
thanks !! :D

@@plamenmilanov3009💯 exactly, bass + drums = rythym section. We can call it a "mix" when there's screaming electric guitars I have to compete with.
@@bigcladwolfdetecting6017MXR cuts through the mix better.
0:33 - Scooped mids + color = MXR at its best! Slap it!
Something wrong here, the mxr got way more distortion when full open. I can't here that in this video.
The Sansamp just sounds so thick when its turned up. I love that sound. Both sound great in different ways tho. 👍

Excellent video! I prefer the MXR but the Sansamp sits in the mix better on this video.
what did you use for the frequency analyzer? Great video!
I use both these mxr and SansAmp on my set... and I'm happy !!! 😊😊😊
SansAmp sounds more natural and musical.
Well the comments are pretty mixed. I just ordered both and will keep the one that suits my style.

This line sounds like an alternate version of Pornhub intro.
lol
The Sansamp sounds muddy to me when the gain is up, I sold mine long ago, I prefer the MXR.
is it weird that I prefer the clean sound..... after all these years owning bass pre/amp sims...

Is that straight from the M80/TECH21 to interface, or there was some cabinet emulation after (in DAW)?
Matter of opinion of which sounds better they're both really good. I prefer the M80 but the Sansamp has a "better" distortion.

Sansamp wins this round! Good comparison!
thanks!!
MXR
The mxr!
mxr m80's distortion is wrong. its not.
awesome! very helpful.
thanks!! :D

Mxr 👍
MXR sounds a little clearer to me.
mxr
MXR was more musical, and the Sans was more natural
SA!
SUBSCRIBED 👍

MXR

MXR wins
