It’s really interesting hearing his talks with passive parties in before battle. He doesn’t get mad at venture, even though their human they don’t do war, their an archeologist. He does this with every character that isn’t against him.
I hate how, Overwatch, despite its flaws. Probably has one of, if not, the best lore and story potential in any game, especially as of late. The characters are so well written and designs are amazing. It angers me how Blizzard don't do anything with it. Such a waste of potential, and I sincerely hope one day, Overwatch will be more than a game. Even if I don't enjoy it as much as I did, I always come back for their characters. I'm just saying, I agree with Ramattra view but also agree it's a bit too aggressive, but it's also very understandable.
They don't know what they're doing with the game, like they nerfed Rammatra to sell Rein's skin, like they don't care about their work that has so much potential.
I'll never shut up about it, overwatch has a lot of great characters with amazing stories and they can easily make a show like arcane about OW… like imagine a tv show about Widowmaker's story and how sad and drama the show will have. Like i genuinely think OW has good story and characters but Blizzard is just not helping people get into it with the lack of content
Considering how he was teased right at the end of Overwatch 1, I'm guessing most of Ramattra's animated trailer was pulled directly from cutscenes originally made for PvE.
He was what got me into the game again. My friends jokingly called him a racist to humans and then when I learned more about him I understood why, but also that he doesn’t entirely hate humans. I especially warmed up to him when I heard how nice he is to the human characters in hat aren’t against Monica
I think the “we must rise ourselves above our oppressors, not to oppress them in turn but purely so that we can continue to live” angle is really interesting. Like very obviously anyone can look at that and say that he’s wrong, reality does not work that way, anger and bitterness and hatred will eventually infect when you’re ruling over those who once demonized you. But for someone living that, experiencing it, it’s possible that they lose sight of that. It’s such a shame that Blizzard has no intention of expanding on the story, as evidenced by lay off after lay off. I want more for my favorite tank

Your points about Bliz are totally true, all the suits up top have just made horrible decisions that only benefit their pockets... But how is ow2 a Fortnite clone? It already had skins and emotes and voicelines etc before Fortnite existed and the gameplay is nothing alike?
honestly sigma, ramattra, the shimada brothers and the factions in general in overwatch have such good potential. Sigma is a eldritch threat kept in check by his shattered mind and mortality, Ramattra is a story of a being getting pushed over the edge, having their nature win over their nurturing and how "good/evil" is relative to your position, the shimada family (pre kiri) is probably one of the most interesting stories in fps gaming. Too bad it's owned by blizzard and the only hope of any story is if they make a netflix/amazon series.
Rammatra isn't immediately openly hostile towards most of the Overwatch cast. That's the biggest reason I think he's not a villain. There are absolutely people he straight up doesn't like but he does actually try to be civil.
I love how the robot plots work in this world. Because where some other storys make it too black and white. Overwatch gives a key and good reason why so many people hate omnics. They were created to kill humanity. So people would of course be angry and suspicious. How many people lost loved ones to the omnic war? But that doesn't make them right. But it also doesn't make ramatra right either. He is the otherside of that rage. And he also had good reason. But where other omnic gained a humility with once being weapons, ramatra only found resentment. Where other chose to grow past the labels and to embrace the good side of humanity, Ramatra could only dwell on his rage. And so he never gained enlightenment. I live his interactions with characters because it humanizes him. Hiw even to humans he talks in a respectful tone normally. But he is short tempered with them about anything. But there are characters he reveals his rage to. Like genji for example. But that rage throws him off. Loke when genji displays his humility by agreeing with him that Zenyata wasted to much of his life teaching him. It surprises ramatra.
Ramattra is just too good for the lore of overwatch to be wasted over pointless pvp. Devs should had continued his story in like a animated series or atleast campaign of act 2 like they promised.
I think the most flawed part of Ramattra is how his creators/writers treat him so condescendingly. The reason for his existence can be completely summarized by being the final boss for the good guys to defeat in PVE, so he would need to represent an ideological opposition to our heroes, so his designers gave him two villainous characteristics that guided his role in the plot and unfortunately they ended up reducing him to that; His resentment and his anger management issues. The most iconic ability he has in the game is his nemesis form, which is basically a transformation that happens when he feels anger, where he grows significantly in size and starts punching the enemy while shouting his political slogans. (It's not exactly the treatment I would give to someone I'm wanting to represent in good faith. Even Doomfist, who is an irredeemable villain who punches his enemies to death, receives a more sympathetic treatment in the game's representation than Ramattra) It's sad to see how a character who is completely on the right side of history is treated like just a resentful, angry robot and how his entire ideology apparently revolves around that. In "Reflections", In the first public demonstration of the null sector, Lanet ( his friend) warned Ramattra that they were not ready for activities of that magnitude, he did not listen to her because of his uncontrollable irrational anger and decided to carry out the Uprising anyway, costing Lanet her life. For a character who was created to be a war general by Anubis himself, making such absurd and childish mistakes, is only possible with the people who write your story to see you as an complete imbecile.
The thing is, I don’t think his existence is specifically to be the big bad they beat at the end of PvE, else they wouldn’t write him as regretful and occasionally kind as they do. But also because of another player he’s seemingly afraid of. Anubis. Who also recently got their own map too… Not to mention I think Talon seem to fit the big bad group they have to fight, especially Doomfist although Sombra and Sigma could be taken out said equation peacefully.
@-voiddemoni-9243 Some of the voice interactions he has in the game show his kinder side, especially with zennyata, and I appreciate and enjoy them all, but most of the treatment that Ramatra receives is overwhelmingly negative, especially in game characterization and lore expansions. We can't escape the fact that the only pitch Overwatch 2 had was Pve, and the only faction they had to go against so far in the global invasion missions was Null Sector, and Ramatra is their leader, he was literally created to be the main antagonist and unfortunately the writers had no other plans beyond that. Talon has involvement in aperantly financing some of Null Sector activities, as it shows in the end of "storm rising," but they are far from being the main vilan in this particular story. Maybe they could have more involvement in the future, but I guess we will never know since the pve was canceled 😞.
My problem with Blizzard's writing is that its progressively getting worse in my opinion. I hated the mind helmets as it's an ordinary evil approach to a villain. The moment I saw Ramattra's cinematic I looked at him as an anti-hero. He wants to protect his people despite his beliefs, he cares about them. Although, I don't think he would mind helmet omnics, the moment I saw this I was so pissed at the writers as it promotes him just ordinarily being evil than a complex character with certain motives. I thought he would capture omnics and put them into ships to avoid them getting hurt in the war and keep them safe from humanity. A less evil writing approach, while maintaining an anti-hero appeal that he doesn't want to hurt his people but protect them. Mind helmets just make him look like a monster and gives overwatch a reason to attack null sector than the anti-hero concept. I agree with your video that Ramattra is a flawed villain which is why we can understand his motivations, but Blizzard took the wrong approach about this, leading to the character's eventual downfall of generic writing.
