Thank you this a great video. We are going on our first cruise ever and have no idea what we were in for you have answered most of my questions thank you ...
My husband and I have sailed on Carnival Splendor three times and absolutely love it! The pink interior is one of my favorite things. The newer ships coming out seem more plain, everything is beige and navy. I’m glad to see that the Indian food bar is still there. It’s the only ship with that food option. Now that it has the Red Frog Pub, the Splendor has absolutely everything we love on a Carnival Cruise. We may start sailing exclusively on this ship.
The pink was definitely a talking point amongst my tour group, and I can’t argue that it’s a lot more fun than beige 😆 not sure about the zebra doughnuts though 🤔 jury is still out on that one for me. It’s great when you discover a ship that really suits you! Happy travels (you know, when we can travel again) and thanks for watching 😊
There are two ships from Long Beach, one ship 7 days and one ship 3&4 days. I went on the 7 days ship name Panorama in 2022. Love it. I don’t know the 3&4 days ship name.
Awesome! Hope you have a brilliant time in our beautiful city and onboard Splendor. A while back, I made a few videos about Sydney if you’re keen to check them out: Sydney Series ua-cam.com/play/PLXgsLgHFTAtJVwmhZE6ccv0xDrCOtjsgN.html
Thank you for sharing the video on Carnival Splendor. I'm thinking of coming to Australia next year for South Pacific on RC and going on Carnival Splendor before that cruise. Although Carnival Splendor is over 10 years old and she looks little over decor, she looks fine to me. It's on vacation.
My wife and I had the best time on the repositioning cruise from Singapore in December. She is a very querky ship. We loved it so much we are sailing on her again in May.
@@maxpalisi2569 when did they announce that? I haven't heard anything yet. However I have been at work all day. Gutted if it has been. Thanks for the info.👍👍
Max Palisi I know your pain, my best mate and I booked for the exact same cruise as it was just after and basically for my 18th birthday, now it’s cancelled unfortunately. We were going to get a refund for the meantime and book again when we could, but because we booked thru Flight Centre we didn’t particularly feel like paying a mandatory $300 cancellation fee EACH, even if this was out of our hands. Instead we took the run of the mill credit and will probably book and try again for my 19th next year haha
Thanks Adrian for your tour , went on the carnival luminosa and love it so have booked on splendour in August and again for Melbourne cup this year can't wait to compare the two ships 😀
Carnival Splendor was my first Carnival cruise! November 2012 out of Long Beach California. If this ship ever comes back to the United States I wanna go back on it! The upgrades look amazing!
Very exciting! Speak to a pharmacists before you leave and make sure you have some things on hand to help deal with any potential sea sickness, though hopefully you're not affected at all.
Some of my friends told me it wasn’t a great ship but it looks cool to me. Some of the decor is a bit over the top but who cares, it’s a cruise, it’s meant to be fun!
Absolutely! Everyone onboard told me that you eventually see past the pink zebra-pattern doughnuts 😆 but Carnival definitely do FUN and I think anyone who goes onboard for a good time will enjoy it.
@waynekerr2397 The main public area I'd like that, it's even got shops, bars and a mini casino. But that's not the whole ship though. The rest is sort of like a resort.

I was not expecting you to be Australian, but I’m not disappointed. I’m American, and sailed Splendor in Alaska. I like the “pink lady” vibe, but I’m not a fan of all of Carnival’s aesthetic choices…Splendor is one of the better looking imo.
Haha thanks! Alaska is an incredible part of the world to cruise, probably one of the best! The "pink lady" seems to hold a special place in the hearts of a lot of people that I've spoken to. I can see why, she's definitely unique. Like you though, I can't say I'm a fan of all of the design choices 😅

Hi Gissel. I don’t have any menus unfortunately. You can watch a video of accommodation here: ua-cam.com/video/UAk4w0TyD4Q/v-deo.html Laundromats are available throughout the ship on the passenger decks
(1) The complement dinner menu is changing every night. (2) All the Cardinal cruise ship has self service laundry on every cabin floor, ask you room steward. (3) I guess the interior, window, balcony cabins are similar, for the suite cabin, don’t know, I never stay in suite cabin.

I just booked my first cruise and it is on this ship but it is going to be cruising the inner straits of Alaska! I really enjoyed your video, it made me so excited to go on my trip!
A really excellent video. I have been shopping for a cruise and want something nice that is still a good value. I am not particularly fond of the super ornate ships (family did a Princess cruise about 7 years ago on an older ship) and I have been drawn to the newer ship models that are more subdued in terms of their decor. However, there is something really nice about how they refurbished this ship. Your video captured the way the renovation maintained the 'bones' of the ship, in a way that resulted in a interesting vintage feel that is still quite classy.
Thanks so much for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! She’s definitely a unique ship and some of her more recent additions have been beautifully completed.
My parents had booked us for a cruise in December our first 10 night cruise we’ve been on 5 other cruises until they canceled it because of coronavirus and booked a caravanning trip 😔I was looking forward to it buffets restaurants waterlisdes full restraint service breakfast lunch and dinner maybe next year
can't wait for November to rock around...I'll be on the Splendor mid month...so way past overdue for this cruise...I'd originally booked it for 2020b ut as we all know, life as we know it got cancelled so rebooked for 21..low and behold THAT got cancelled so rebooked for 22..that ALSO got cancelled and all theses bookings were for New Caledonia..I then got informed that the cruise WOULD be going ahead for this year but not to NC, instead it'll be up the eastern seaboard of Australia, not quite what I wanted but better than no cruise at all..besides, I've never been that far north so I AM looking forward to it...looking forward to seeing the Great Barrier reef and further north..
Wow! Well I'm sure the long, long, LONG wait will be worth it in the end! Not long to go now, and you'll be cruising. I hope you enjoy the trip up north, it's a beautiful part of the country and so, so tropical 🏝
I have seen one or two cruise ships in Sydney but never boarded. One of the sightings was from a distance and the second was from an observation area at terminal.
I've been tossing up going on this ship for a family Christmas cruise in 2022 against Ovation or Quantum. Some better pricing from Carnival which might be the deal maker. Thanks for the great review.
You're welcome - thanks for watching! She's definitely got a lot to offer families, and Carnival really cater well for families of all types. The onboard currency on Splendor is AUD, whereas on Royal Caribbean it's USD. That can really impact your bill for onboard expenses come the end of the cruise too so that's something else to consider.
I hope Carnival's replacement ship for Spririt isn't some generic, stale ship design. The designs by Joe Farcus really give his ships a unique character
It looks like it might be the Costa Magica - she’s being transferred to the Carnival fleet this year and there are murmurs that she will make her way to Brisbane. I understand that her interiors were also designed by Joe Farcus so that should continue with the unique characteristics!
Yes it looks over the top but fun too. I'm thinking of going on a cruise (this ship) and taking my family. I've never been on one before. It's only for 4 nights. We range from 60 to 6. Your thoughts???
Hi Joanne. I think you’ll all have a wonderful time - Carnival caters well for all ages if you’re after a fun and casual atmosphere. Plus, being 4 nights means it’s a good amount of time to try it out, without committing to a longer voyage.
Hi, we are travelling on this ship to the South Pacific in September this year. There are 3 adults and 6 kids travelling. What do you suggest for drinks packages. Is there free water available around the ship? We aren't big alcohol drinkers but the kids will probably enjoy the soft drinks, after all it is a holiday. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. PS the ships decor isn't to my liking but to each their own.
Hi Gabby. Yes, there's free ice water, as well as coffee, tea and milk all day. Barista made coffees are an extra charge. A limited section of juices (not fresh squeezed) are available during breakfast. Watch my drinks package video if you haven't already: ua-cam.com/video/4EUzh6a3h2E/v-deo.html If you're not big alcohol drinkers, then I wouldn't recommend the package, but hopefully my video helps shed some light on what to expect. Enjoy your cruise!
Thanks, just watched it. Definitely won't be getting the alcohol package, I'd end up overboard! One more question regarding sleeping. Is the "twin" bed the size of a king? And how long are the single sofa and pull down beds? My son will be sleeping on one of those two and he's 6ft 3. I'm wondering if I should have the twin beds separated and give him one of those for length?
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy You deserve heaps more subscribers, this is the best ship tour I’ve seen! I hope you keep going with your tours! They are really good.
Hi David. There are many points of difference between the two ships. Explorer is an older and smaller ship, but she’s been beautifully renovated and taken care of. Have you seen the Pacific Explorer tour video on my channel? Check it out if you haven’t. It depends what’s important to you as a passenger. Splendor has an amazing adults only area with its own pool. Explorer has an adults only area as well, but it doesn’t have as large a pool. Both have slides, and outdoor movie screens. Both have a number is restaurants you can go to. Splendor includes a few extra freebie eateries where as on Explorer you’ll need to pay for a few of the extra food options over and above the basic included fare. On a personal note, I prefer the decor and public areas on Explorer but both are excellent ships and it would be hard to make a wrong choice.
Going to be cruising on her next month to the Melbourne Cup. I'm very excited to be cruising again, any more tips about the ship or what to do in Melbourne would be welcome
Fun! That'll be a very festive cruise. It just depends on what you like to do, but the adults only Serenity area looks like a brilliant place to spend a sunny day, relaxing. Keep an eye on the daily program and make sure you attend any events that interest you and just try it all! Have fun.
So please tell us is Carnival Splendor is located in Australia now.... Because we had noticed that they have cruises in July here in Australia... We would like to see some of those cruises in Australia's winter
Have you ever actually done a cruise on splendor Adrian? Or just this day tour? If you haven't come on our cruise to the pacific Islands in April 2025 with us hehe :)
Thanks for watching! I think that might be the case, though I’m interested to see what (if anything) Carnival do to Luminosa before she starts sailing with them.
Hi Adrian … Is the Carnival Spirit similar to this video of Carnival Splendor? I have not cruised with Carnival cruises before. Reason is Carnival Spirit leaves from Brisbane.
Hi Judith, the Spirit and Splendor are quite different in some ways. The Splendor is a larger ship with a different design, however ultimately they do offer very similar facilities for their guests between accommodation choices and pools, restaurants etc. The Spirit is slightly smaller, though not by a big margin. I think you’ll enjoy your time onboard as their customer service is revered throughout the industry - with a focus on fun. The Spirit is a little more on the “glitzy” side in terms of her interior design if that matters at all. It all adds to the experience apparently haha. Hope that helps.
Just wondering about kids club? Is it like a childcare? I'm planning on going in July 13thband was hoping I could put my 7 year old in so she doesn't get bored hanging with me haha
Hi there! Yes, it is like childcare. There are activity staff that watch the kids and entertain them. It isn't open all day, there are set hours but you should go straight to the kids club when you board to register your daughter and find out about their program.
Hey Em. I'm not actually sure where they hold trivia on Splendor - normally it would be held in one of the smaller lounges/bar locations. I hope you manage to get onboard next year! 🤞
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy Well all my Splendor Cruises got cancelled, so fingers crossed my PNG cruise on Spirit will go ahead in November 2022. I've booked into Splendor in February 2024 to New Zealand, fingers crossed cruising will be back to normal then.
Thanks Owen. Glad you enjoyed the tour. From memory, Carnival splits Your Time dining and traditional early/late dining between the dining rooms. YTD used to be in Black Pearl but that might have changed.
September is a nice time - it depends on where you’re going on the cruise and what sort of weather you’d ideally like. What’s the destination of the cruise?
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy South Pacific, we are in Australia, so it will be Noumea and the island. And it is with the Carnival. We are mature and hoping to avoid the school holidays and hoping for a more relaxed and quite time it is for 8 days
I believe the Splendor had a refit before being moved down under a few years ago, and I recall that soft furnishings were upgraded as part of that work.
Ive been on both royal caribbean and carnival. Carnival had more to do and the opulence made you feel like you were on the titanic. The food was amazing. In comparison royal caribbean felt midfle class boring?!
The cabins look so dated, im not a huge fan but the pricing is a bit better than some others and this ship has a lot of fun things my daughter would love
I think the bathroom in particular is a bit off-putting with that green colour haha. The cabins themselves surprised me, they might look better in person than they appear on camera. Carnival definitely offer a great onboard experience and value. Thanks for watching.
Yes, definitely. Cruising is a great way to travel solo. It’s easy to make friends if you’re interested, but also very relaxing if that’s more your style.
Just came from CS last Thursday. My verdict...
1. It's a fun ship. There's entertainment everywhere. Dinner at Gold Pearl involved dancing and being serenaded by one of the waiters. There's 80s dance at Lido deck 9, dance at deck 3, etc...
2. Breakfast at the Gold Pearl needs booking. The wait can be 30-60 min. It's worth the wait as you get seated properly and it's more relaxed. The Lido Buffet is also available for breakfast but the queue is so long.
3. Check-in was busy, but check out was very smooth.
4. Lots of things to do.
Cons:
1. The ship needs updating. It's very dated- the furniture are peeling off, the window's show their age, and the interior is a bit tacky. But hey, it's okay. It's not Royal Caribbean. It's a budget cruise.
2. The bed linens smelled musty. They remind me of damp and dirty bed sheets left to stink for days then washed. They looked clean and pristine but the smell was bad. I don't know if it was the pillows, duvet and mattress that were stinky, or the sheets.
3. The staterooms remind me of a low cost 3-star-motel.
4. Wifi is AU$18/day. If you want to chat with your companions, you need to pay $8/day each to be able to text each other. Trust me, you need that.
5. Only 1 socket to charge phones. Bring extension board or multi-cord chargers.
6. Not enough places to dry wet items. Bring magnetic hangers
7. The food is RSL quality.
Overall, it was a great cruise. Just don't mind the dated appearance and smelly bed sheets.😅😅😅

I just booked my first cruise and it is on this ship but it is going to be cruising the inner straits of Alaska! I really enjoyed your video, it made me so excited to go on my trip!
I’m so glad! Thanks for watching and I hope have a wonderful cruise to Alaska.
My family is booked for August 2nd leaving out of Seattle 😁
@@kingster1989 awesome!
@@kingster1989 Me too!
I was literally on that exact Cruise
same
A really excellent video.
My parents had booked us for a cruise in December our first 10 night cruise we’ve been on 5 other cruises until they canceled it because of coronavirus and booked a caravanning trip 😔I was looking forward to it buffets restaurants waterlisdes full restraint service breakfast lunch and dinner maybe next year
Ahhh bugger. Well, I’m sure that next year you’ll be off cruising again and enjoying all of the best the ship has to offer!
can't wait for November to rock around...I'll be on the Splendor mid month...so way past overdue for this cruise...I'd originally booked it for 2020b ut as we all know, life as we know it got cancelled so rebooked for 21..low and behold THAT got cancelled so rebooked for 22..that ALSO got cancelled and all theses bookings were for New Caledonia..I then got informed that the cruise WOULD be going ahead for this year but not to NC, instead it'll be up the eastern seaboard of Australia, not quite what I wanted but better than no cruise at all..besides, I've never been that far north so I AM looking forward to it...looking forward to seeing the Great Barrier reef and further north..
That’s fun! I miss seeing ships in Sydney. Very exciting that they’ll soon be back.
Loved tour
Thanks Colleen, glad you enjoyed it.
4:59 is a rlly good view of the waterpark
Glad you enjoyed the tour 😄
So, they have changed the Black Pearl dining room ?
Hey there. Not sure about recent changes, I filmed this in 2019
Hi, we are travelling on this ship to the South Pacific in September this year.
Watch my drinks package video if you haven't already: ua-cam.com/video/4EUzh6a3h2E/v-deo.html
If you're not big alcohol drinkers, then I wouldn't recommend the package, but hopefully my video helps shed some light on what to expect.
We are going to go to carnival April 9 at Sunday
Enjoy!
I went on it and it was so cool
Glad you enjoyed your time onboard!
Nice video. Thanks!
Thanks for watching 😁
Carnival Splendor coming up for me!!
Awesome! 🥳🥳
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy You deserve heaps more subscribers, this is the best ship tour I’ve seen! I hope you keep going with your tours! They are really good.
@@justlily7646 thank you! 😄
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy What activities to you recommend from ages 5-15 to do together on carnival splendor?
Is this better than the P&O Explorer?
I miss cruising.
Me too 😞
Going to be cruising on her next month to the Melbourne Cup.
Have fun.
What did you think of the cruise to the Melbourne Cup? We are thinking of booking for next year
So please tell us is Carnival Splendor is located in Australia now.... Because we had noticed that they have cruises in July here in Australia... We would like to see some of those cruises in Australia's winter
Hi Gissel. No, Splendor is heading to the USA to cruise in Alaska. She’s due to arrive back in Australia in October.
Have you ever actually done a cruise on splendor Adrian? Or just this day tour? If you haven't come on our cruise to the pacific Islands in April 2025 with us hehe :)
Just the inspection back in 2019 😁 I'll keep that one in mind as we get closer! 🏝️
Great video thanks. Based on what I see of this ship vs the incoming Costa Luminosa from Brisbane, this is a far better option.
Thanks for watching! I think that might be the case, though I’m interested to see what (if anything) Carnival do to Luminosa before she starts sailing with them.
I refuse to go on Carnival Luminosa until it has Guy’s Burger Joint!
My grandma and I went on it in January 2019 for her birthday to Hawaii
Fantastic - did you enjoy your time onboard? 😄
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy yes, would someday love to go again
Just booked a cruise to Alaska on this ship!
Awesome! Hope you enjoy your Alaska cruise - it’s an incredible destination.
I like the colour
It’s definitely eye catching
Hope that helps.
im going on this ship on july 4th to alaska
So cool! Hope you have a great cruise. Alaska is amazing.
I'm booked on this ship next week. You comin'?
Enjoy your cruise!
Does it still have the tired silk flowers hanging around?
I didn’t see those on my tour, but I may have missed them amidst the maze of other design features haha.
It was my aunty getting married there was a few places i never knew about when i was here
Dark and dingy, especially in the Pearl dining area
She’s a bit dated, especially compared to more recent cruise ship design
Just wondering about kids club? Is it like a childcare? I'm planning on going in July 13thband was hoping I could put my 7 year old in so she doesn't get bored hanging with me haha
Hi there! Yes, it is like childcare. There are activity staff that watch the kids and entertain them. It isn't open all day, there are set hours but you should go straight to the kids club when you board to register your daughter and find out about their program.
On that exact date in February 2020
How was your cruise?
Re the decor, the gaudier the better..we're on holidays..
Haha very true! The lead designer definitely wanted to transport the passenger away from the everyday world and I think they succeeded.
Hey mate, where do they do the trivia? I'm hoping to get on the Splendor next year, my last 2 cruises on this ship were cancelled so fingers crossed.
Hey Em. I'm not actually sure where they hold trivia on Splendor - normally it would be held in one of the smaller lounges/bar locations. I hope you manage to get onboard next year! 🤞
Hey they do the bulk of the trivia in elmorocco which is also the comedy club 🍻👍
Awesome tour! Can any peeps tell me the difference between Black and Gold Pearl dining?
Thanks Owen. Glad you enjoyed the tour. From memory, Carnival splits Your Time dining and traditional early/late dining between the dining rooms. YTD used to be in Black Pearl but that might have changed.
For dinner, different diner hall, different diner time, all diner menus are the same.
thanks
Hope you enjoyed! 😊
We plan to go in 2023 in steptember is this a good time
September is a nice time - it depends on where you’re going on the cruise and what sort of weather you’d ideally like. What’s the destination of the cruise?
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy South Pacific, we are in Australia, so it will be Noumea and the island. And it is with the Carnival. We are mature and hoping to avoid the school holidays and hoping for a more relaxed and quite time it is for 8 days
did the cabins get new carpet and bedding?
I believe the Splendor had a refit before being moved down under a few years ago, and I recall that soft furnishings were upgraded as part of that work.
Bgreat video. Wasn't too keen on the music though.
Thanks
Ive been on both royal caribbean and carnival. Carnival had more to do and the opulence made you feel like you were on the titanic. The food was amazing.
In comparison royal caribbean felt midfle class boring?!
Thanks for your review Amanda. So glad to read that you loved cruising with Carnival 😁
Planning on doing a cruise for my birthday
I turn 30 on February 25th 23
Due to Covid-19 may need a booster before planning
That’s exciting! What a way to celebrate your 30th birthday.
Are the pools heated ?
No from what I remember; the pools aren’t heated but the spas and jacuzzis are.
Beautiful ship! We’re new to the channel. Great video.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Ex cruises ship last kontrak Carnival splengdor 2013 in new York city USA
Can you go on this cruise alone?
Yes, definitely. Cruising is a great way to travel solo. It’s easy to make friends if you’re interested, but also very relaxing if that’s more your style.
Yes, you can have the whole cabin by yourself, but you have to pay double cruise fare.
