I got this as my second deck today. I asked the shop owner what deck people were sleeping on and he suggested this among a few because, "A lot of people get lost trying to play it." Sounded really fun so here I am looking to learn how it works.
Opened it blind today, no idea what i was in for, and sleeved it and played a game. This deck rocks. I love how it plays. The cuts you made i agree with, and i already have a few things i could slot in.
What aere your final thoughts about the deck? It got quite a lot of "hate" but I think its actually the most unique and interesting one out of the four Precons. : )
It and Mirko are the 2 most fun out of the box, and upgraded are really strong. Goad is a really weak mechanic with a lot of issues and Morska is boring and feels like a do nothing commander. I love my upgraded Kaust precon, it's really strong. It's strange though because outside of reduction spells and Sol Ring/Thran Dynamo the deck doesn't really want you to play Ramp. Kaust on 2, Morph on 3 and start the engine.
My local store recommended this as a "never touched MTG before" deck and it seemed horrible to the friend who got it. This is pretty far from beginner friendly having to manage the different morphs, cloaks, disguise and keep track of a bunch of different counters etc (which theyve never heard of). It made it alot harder to teach them to play when I didnt even know what half the cards were doing or the decks "goal". Especially with Kaust as commander. Seemed really underwhelming to get a single flip for free. This video helped a bit of my understanding, hopefully I can make the experience better for my friend.
Good choice! I think Ugin giving the mana discount can really help speed the deck up more. Plus he has removal, so he can handle nearly any problem card.

I think this deck is really cool. I'm definitely gonna upgrade it a bit and see how far I can push it. The alt commander is very interesting, too 🤔

What do you think about add Ugin, the Ineffable as planes walker? I am thinking on buy it, is not spensive and i think work great.

This deck needs more draw. I'd add in Shamanic Revelation.
Ruxa is too expensive for what it does and the big 13/13 is too mana intensive with that upkeep tax.
