Hi Everyone - Hope you enjoyed the episode. And you wouldn't be looking at the comments if you hadn't already watched the whole thing, right? Because I certainly wouldn't want to spoil anything for anyone... Anyway, friendly reminder that Teferi's Protection gives a player "Protection from Everything" which means that damage from any source is completely prevented. The whole "you still take Commander Damage thing" only applies if a card were to say "damage from this can't be prevented" however, no card in this game says that (you're thinking of Questing Beast). -JLK
I always wondered if people would bring that up. Reading the card, explains the card lol.
It didn't matter in the end, but wasn't there a whoops with "Take the Bait"? JLK should have had to swing with everything during the second combat.
That intro was outstanding! The cinematography, the set, the sketch, the inside jokes!
I've been watching you guys since the beginning, and it's always amazing to see how you constantly raise the bar!
Take the Bait only goads the attacking creatures, not all of their creatures
@@Natedogg2 I think you're trying to be clever about the difference between "attack" and "attacking" but got it mixed up. Any attacking creature would be goaded, including tokens created during combat and put into play tapped and attacking because the card does not stipulate that the creatures needed to have attacked this turn.
In other words, you need to attack to get attack triggers like drawing a card when a creature attacks or paying 2 for propaganda. But going straight into play attacking will miss the draw and get around the Propaganda tax, however they are still attacking.
TL;DR: All creatures that attack are attacking, but not all attacking creatures had to attack.
When Arin “recited” Roaming Throne’s text from memory, the “Nailed it.” flavor text was absolute gold. Editor deserves an award for that one.
When was this?
40:12
It has some major “have you ever had a dream that” vibes. I loved it.
I feel like it's every editor's dream to be able to edit a video with Arin in it. He's a gold mine of creative expressive editing.
Somebody needs to get it printed and send it to him.
The shout out to commander at home, table, top, and shuffle up and play was epic
You missed Hijinks
@@racewarkingdomsable lmao! Decked out got passed over also. Lol
I loved that part so much lol
No one got passed over. We just have a lot of channels now and they showed a little love to some of the people who were part of the opening Skit ❤
I hate your deck would have been cool to hear! IMO
.
This intro was EVERYTHING
Every joke, reference and all the acting was phenomenal 😂 this was great. Ready for the game!
They definitely missed out on referencing Reenact the Crime, but I am with you, that was phenomenal!
"Well, it wasn't Dandân"
Dead
"Sorry 'bout the rookie, he's got SUMMONING SICKNESS" loool
I'm not saying I want this ... but if they always made such high quality intro and made them patreons only, they would have a lot more patreons ^^
Time to.shuffle up and -no that doesnt feel right
I love Rachel responding with "FOR CRIM!" when Arin plays the Sword of Body and Mind.
You guys KILLED (literally murdered) it with that opening short 👏 It makes me so happy to see you all having fun. Your podcast and Game Knights episodes have really helped me get into this wonderful game as a new player and you all seem like a great group of people!
That's some expensive content right there.
Surprised no sunglasses on after quip and a YEAAAAAAAAHHhhhhhh
God that intro “We may be dealing with a serial miller” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The flashback of Olivia laughing in slow mo and asking Josh if he'd mind milling 76 literally cracked me. I became the cry laugh emoji irl
It was the first time I've seen Phyrexian processor used for that (fun fact rachael was in that episode and gave olivia the mana to be able to do that.)
What game is that from?
Do you know where is it from? I need to watch this
@@dolphinsniper Extra Turns 24, timestamp 32:10
@@alessandropereira4976 It's from an Extra Turns episode that had Rachel, Olivia, Josh, and someone else I can't remember.
Yo this intro was soo fire!!🔥
"Youre tellin me this is a commander game?" "It ain't Dan-Dan.. "😂
I am dying!! 🤣🤣 The transcription of Arin's version of the Roaming Throne ability!
That's just typical Hansonese.
I loved the part when Arin said "It's Wolf time" and started wolfing all around, truly one of the scenes in this video.
Bravo!
IT WAS RACHEL WEEKS, IN THE RHYSTIC STUDY, WITH THE COUNTERSPELL
😂😂😂
Nah it was Jimmy Wong, in the Command Tower, with the missed land drop.
😃
😂
Clearly this was the work of an infect deck player
The "Crime Doesn't Pay (the 1) plate was *chef's kiss*
"Did I say karlov or Markov?" Literally CONSTANTLY dude.
It took me way longer than I'm proud to admit to realise, why the hell we didn't get any vampires this set
I love Amy Vorpal lol
I also made the same mistake a few times lol
@@GrandLineLogPort Etrata? Vein Ripper? Wispdrinker Vampire? There's like 9 not counting Mirko in the Precon
@@KynElwynn Yup, there are some (I mean, what's a set without any vampires, right?)
But that's not even a fraction of what I'd expect from a set, set in the mansion of the Markov family.
I mean, that'd be basicaly an "all out vampire" set
We were waaaay too deep into spoiler season, when I realised, that it's in Karlov Mansion though
47:48
Love this little bit of foreshadowing with "Take the Bait."
didnt notice they even play a little chime in the background when he says it thats so cool
Honestly mad props for the production sequence at the beginning and the whole skit, you guys are leveling up so much throughout the years and your passion really shows.
Keep it up my dudes, you're inspirational.
This is the best produced, directed, and written Game Knights ever.
Truly
Arin is a bro for destroying the altar of dementia for Josh to prevent his PTSD from triggering
And giving him Fresh Wolf-based PTSD
I love how in the opening short, Josh’s signature move is taking his shades off and putting them on again 😎
My friends gifted me a commander precon for my birthday, this is my first approach with Magic but this channel makes me wish I had been in the community for years! It's crazy how many incredible videos and channels are out there, just a few bubbles away. Amazing video, incredible production value, now I just need to understand how the heck to play!
You can do it, buddy
Just by browsing those channels and playing enough games, you'll be knowledgeable in no time
Oh, my, God! That opening Detective sequence was astounding! Well done to all, great writing, the card names and placement...simply gorgeous.
Omg, guys, the level of production here is _insane!_ And fantastic writing, too.
I always love the really in depth videos like these before games.
Crim’s Summoning sickness was hilarious. As was basically the entire intro. 😂
I couldn't tell if that was Crim or not lol glad someone else knew
I've never played MTG yet YT recommended a variety of commander channels - so far this one has been the easiest to follow and most entertaining! Not only showing many cards played in full detail, but the exact version (printing) is icing on the top, great editing... that intro was unexpected and incredible! The license plate holder was so cool!
So exciting that Arin got to not only actually do things in a game, but actually win! Definitely one of the best episodes. Great job everyone!
That roaming throne cutscene was amazing, props to the team for that one! And it's an incredible card so that cutscene is going to come in handy! 👌
yep
and its just devastating and backbreaking for opponents
infact i use it for the nastiest trigger in the entire history of magic....how do you feel about double annihilator triggers
Arin's perfect recall recitation of the rules text right after was the perfect cherry on top.
That intro was perfect. Lovely acting from everyone involved, especially Crim lurking in the background.
Casual Crim
The intro was amazing , the game was fantastic. It was so nice seeing Arin have a strong showing especially after the whole “Narset” incident.
Can't believe how far the production value in your content has come. I have been enjoying your content for a long time and it just keeps getting better!
That Vietnam Flashback of Josh about the Altar... love it, great Job 😂😂😂
The amount of love, and attention to detail put into that intro is why I love this channel so much. 10/10 never stop making these.
Jimmy: *casts alter of dimentia*
Josh: *PTSD flashbacks*
What an incredible intro! The production and quality of this show and how it keeps getting better all the time blows me away
This was gold! I’m watching this after the interview with prof and i hope that this is the direction they move in for the next round of boundary-pushing content!
That opening skit was fantastic. The way that Katie Cantrip stops mid-take and goes "Wait did I say Markov or Karlov?", the "Crime Doesn't Pay (the 1)" license plate frame on the Tesla, the cameo appearances from Joe, Crim, and Ashlen, the giant board of suspects, all of the puns and references within the dialogue itself... Even the little details, like a CSI worker slipping a copy of Hard Evidence into an evidence bag. You could tell that so much thought and effort was put into all of it.
I thought LCI was my favorite Game Knights episode, but when I say the quality of this episode was UNMATCHED, the intro, the game, the ENDING were truly remarkable. Bravo to all at The Command Zone. Tesya did not die in vain.
That intro was a real piece of work. Props to the cast and crew for the effort.
That intro was glorious, even before they hit us with the L&O opening. Bravo to the whole team.
If I may use Dan Avidan analogy of when he fought Arin Hanson in checkers:
Everyone was fighting with chopsticks until Arin pulled out a Gun.
The red herring flashing when they suspected the professor was top notch
The time and effort put into the intro, the advertisements, and the in-game animations for some of the cards are the reasons why I love this channel. I started playing Magic a little over two years ago and I wouldn't have been nearly as invested in to if it wasn't for you. Thank you for another piece of quality content. 😁
Same bro same
I'm sick with like the flu or idk. But I've been coughing up a lot. Today I felt a lot better... Jimmy's delivery of his 1st line nearly killed me! Literally. I coughed/laughed intensely for like 15 seconds. Holy moly, this is the best mtg channel in the universe, hands down.
The hilarious thing is that at 55:10 when Jimmy is asking Emily to counterspell it, she actually had a spellskite. So that means, she could have actually saved Jimmy lol. Pretty sure it got overlooked because of the chaos but if she chose to let it happen because she was salty over the attempted boardwipe that just makes it funnier.
Who tf is Emily ??? Lol
0:30
knowing Arin I 100% expected him to say something like "I'm about to blow everyone..."
...
"...AWAY"
Holy moly, Arin had an answer for everything, really big draw luck there. Very nice game, was fun to watch!
I can appreciate the Spanish J sound in Voja, personally I've always done the Scandinavian Y sound of J for a Vo-yuh pronounciation.
It is stupid because its set in “fictional Europe” it is pronounced Vo-ya or Vo-Ja with J like in Jordan for example
@@cro6029 And Chandra should be pronounced Chundra based on Kaledesh's setting inspiration, what's your point?
Spain is in Europe@@cro6029
Dude Spain is in Europe and here we would pronounce it like they did in the show... @@cro6029
I feel like the pronounciation was wrong there.
The Law and Order intro freakin' killed me. Love it.
Legally distinct Law and Order
This is the level of absolute GOLD that is now expected with every release. GREAT JOB COMMAND ZONE TEAM!
The up in the production is the best thing. The atmosphere puts the game in a really good mood. And the intro was incredible. Well done everyone!!!
The cinematic intro was glorious, everyone who helped work on that should be proud. More of these please

Liked for the intro alone, haven't even made it past the credits, outstanding work gentlemen.
I did not expect the Katie cameo. The fact that she didnt burst out laughing was amazing
I love these complex intros SO MUCH it's like actually some of the best magic content outside of the game itself
My god, this might be my favorite episode of Game Knights by far! The intro was FANTASTIC, so perfect and so well done, but also with the return of Arin, the absolute MADNESS of the game, so goooood!
“This…is pod racing.”
Best line in all of Game Knights.
43:33
Best. Episode. Ever! The production level was unreal.
Weird ruling question I'm hoping to clear as I want to build a Teysa, Opulent Oligarch deck. Annoited Procession seems to work on helping create two spirits instead of one. How come though? I thought generally "can't" usually beats "can", and Teysa say only once each turn
Teysa says she can only trigger once each turn, meaning even if you sacrifice more clues she would not create spirits. While Anointed Procession doubles the amount of tokens from the trigger. if that makes sense.
“That’ll learn me” is my new favorite Josh quote
5:50
ok I'm subscribing, that intro absolutely sold me
Dude. This episode is amazing. Props to whoever wrote the intro!
Heeeeey! Arin's back on! And i'm so glad that he's here for the murder mystery Clue based set, because as we all know, he's the best at paying attention, following along, and uncovering mysteries!😂
Maybe they should've gotten his "Uncle" on for this one.
*Spoiler*
And he won! Who woulda thunk it?! Arin wasn't _solving_ the case, he was _DECEIVING_ everyone else! What a true mastermind!
Really didn't think Arin would win this episode! Such good plays
@@godoy_ Super shocked, too! I want to know how much input (if any) he had in building the deck for the show.
Nahhhhhhh, how much did that intro coust them?! 😂😂😂 beautiful
That video sponsorship with Wizards really lets them have a tooooon of fun with these!
What was the mana value of the production?
6:00 That intro was absolutely amazing!
I just showed up to watch new people discover Arin say "both" with an L, but I stayed for all the amazing production value of that intro. Superb job!
I never saw your whole videos because if the flashy effects and the inner dialogues in the middle, but now I appreciate the cinematic feeling to it, love it!
That segment in the beginning was just *chefs kiss*
Arin is absolutely hilarious. I've been watching him way longer than I've been playing Magic, and it's great to see how his sense of humor works in this style of video. That was a great game of commander with some super fun decks. I'm bummed we didn't get to see Rachel's deck pop off because her commander seems super fun to build around, but that's just how it goes sometimes. Loved this video and I can't wait to see what else these folks do with this release.
WOW I love the intro and the set!! Really awesome theming for the video!!
the production value and the puns just for the intro alone deserve an emmy, bravo 👏
thank you for showcasing mostly premier set commanders in this video
1:11:07 WAS THAT THE BITE OF 87!?
This intro intro is a hundred times better than any card on the set, you guys are awesome
tbh watching the production value of this show over the what 10 plus years is my fav part
By the 7th time I'm rewatching this video, I felt like building a Voja deck in Magic Arena, with the Standard Brawl label. It's challenging because we're running out of good elves, there's absolutely no wolves worth playing - other than a card that makes a Voja token - and no shapeshifters and/or good changelings. Still, I'm having a great time with them, so thank you Aron for showcasing our winning son!
The intro was so smooth and fun. I watched it three times to find all easter eggs
the fact that they followed through with Arin's suggestion that Hull Clade doesn't roar but still make it sound intimidating anyway is really cool!
That opening skit earned an instant subscribe from me.
The production value of this episode went insanely high! Intro skit was amazing, gameplay was top notch too.
Wonder if Jimmy thought about the line where after getting his bounce spell countered, he could've sacrificed his Mocking Doppleganger(which was Pride of the Hull Clade atm) in order to return it with Mirko at the end step as copy of Arin's commander. Perhaps that line was exactly why Arin chose the Altar of Dementia to get Rec't.
Ruling question: Does Teferi´s Protection stop Commander Damage? - I don´t think so, the damage should be marked.... So Josh was already dead one turn before, right?
It gives you protection from everything so you take no damage. If it didn't give you protection and only stated that your life total can't change, you would be right.
@@nathanmcduck2999Or there's an effect present that says damage can't be prevented, such as Questing Beast.
@@aftermathofcool Tefer's Protection still prevents all damage as part of it granting protection from everything, so no commander damage is dealt.
@@aftermathofcool It absolutely does; protection from something prevents damage from that source. Per rule 702.16e: "Any damage that would be dealt by sources that have the stated quality to a permanent or player with protection is prevented."
IT WAS ARIN, IN THE GAME KNIGHTS ROOM, WITH THE RIZZ.
If there's anything anyone here should know about Arin Hansen it's that his reaction is same as his situation. If he didn't have that to Teferi's protection at the end he would have had a very dramatic reaction, he wouldn't be an a****** about it but he would definitely not have a poker face.
That intro was unironically the best intro you've ever done. Keep it up!
Has anyone else thought about how Arin is playing a Selesnya deck and just so happens to wipe out Josh, who plays Teysa, personally?
I actually watched the whole intro and it was amazing. Thank you guys.
Josh hit the nail on the head - part of the fun of Commander is finding the path, winning makes it more fun but if you see your deck function a loss shouldn’t take away from it.
I only just realized that Rachel was responding to the little interviews as if she were talking to a news reporter about the murder 😉
The skits, puns, shout-outs, and editing was INSANE for this episode! BRAVO to the entire team!
The skit was easily the best one you've ever done, shout out to the writers!
The production value on the opening skit is so top tier lmao, great work y'all
Aaron, Kyle Hill, the Prof, and (Rachel & the Boyz) - you put any combination of that into an episode and according to my watch history I can't turn it off no matter how many times I've seen it; the cravings persist even now!
FML now I need tacos...
Amazing intro!!! When they started naming other shows, I lost it haha. Editing and putting together the crime feel was truly amazing
This was THE BEST episode in a while. Not that the quality has been declining, this was just a swingy, fun, interactive game. And Arin is a blast.
Ok. I had to pause before the game even starts and say BRAVO!!!. Amazing intro. You all just keep getting better and better.
You know, I'd actually watch a show based on the "Romance" between Conscript & Kiki-jiki....
"it aint Dandan"
How could i NOT notice that! I learned it last year
Seriously... The editing is getting so good for these episodes. 🔥
Rachel! You’re my favorite! AND you pronounce the first part of “aegis” correctly! I rarely hear that and it made me smile. 30:39
I love when they do the skits before the games like this, They are so good.
I love how Arin just acted all casual and silly like he doesn't care what happens, but secretly he's planning ten steps ahead and has the win locked in his mind the whole game!
The opening skit is one of the best skits that not only have you done, but any MTG content creator has done. What an awesome intro and respect for shouting out other shows in the same space! Also, JLK's Miami Vice style is killer.
