- In this episode I visit a unique rare plant store in Bangkok founded by my friend Jan of @januaryfoliage . Jan and I were plant friends from before the pandemic. We would trade cuttings and Jan would take me to Chatuchak plant market. Over the pandemic, Jan has turned her tiny Bangkok apartment into a growing facility for ultra-rare plants. She curates the collection and cares for them in such a unique way, this episode is going to be a treat for you. I discover a few species that I’ve never seen before. This episode also provides a glimpse into the Thailand plant collecting and retailing culture. Enjoy!

This is so far the most incredible rare plant presentation yet! So exquisite! So beautiful! Impeccable ambiance! Clean arrangement. How I wish I had the money to order from her.
😀😀 thank you
lol this woman could buy a house with all of this rare stuff in Australia. That mint monstera would be AUD$10,000+

Beautiful beautiful variegated plants!!!
Holy mother of grail. A profound lesson in living with stellar looking plants.
OMG, I have started my journey on various elephant plants. All are tissue cultured prepared. Clueless how this will present. Lost 5, 8 seem to be acclimating to their new surroundings.
6 new will arrive tomorrow, and 8 more will arrive by Friday of next week.
This grower in this video is my inspiration🙏🏻
😀🙏🏽
This is my favorite plant collection display and plant collector yet! Everything is so beautiful and such a sweet person! I truly hope you feature her again. Would love to see growth updates and how she cares for all her plants in her apartment. Thanks again for another great video Sean!

Wow superb.
Wow beautiful plants in white pots👏👏👏
So beautiful good care very kind 💕 ❤ 😊 I love it
I hope the next vid is on how Jan waters her plants. It seemed there was no water in the bottom of the tubs. Also, she has a unique moss pole setup, very cool. Amazing grow room!
the moss pole i think is stackable, plastic housing you can just fill with moss.
@Rebecca Henderson Look up “lazy moss poles” on UA-cam
This is so clean and organized. Beautiful plants.
Yeah its so soothing
Superb
love the plants, love the tour, keep it up!
Thank youu

Truly beautiful.
Vanilla has to be a certain size to flower.
Whoaa thanka for the share
I love the scindapsus
😲😍😍😍
Beautiful collection. I’d have to say the variegated billietae was my favorite I think. I feel like I notice some plants seem to almost struggle to put out the variegation in the way like the variegated part of the leaf looks almost like it didn’t fully form as well as the green part did it that makes sense. It’s interesting but it makes sense that because the variegation is “weak” compared to the green but I really only feel like it happens on some plants
Yes usually variegated portions of the plants are weaker 😀
OMG I almost peed in my pants w excitement! yay! friday CHILL
😀😀
I have that begonia amphioxus and it’s a real pain! I have it in my Ikea cabinet at 75-80% humidity and it still isn’t a happy camper. We can’t win them all I suppose.
Your friend has some gorgeous plants!
I missed this upload somehow. Glad it popped up now though. Better late than never lol
😀😀
I think the white adasonii is call variegated adasonii galapagos and grow white and change the color like the florida ghost and show its real variegation!! Is sell as variegated adasonii , i think is so beautiful!!! By the way , love her collection and her love for plants, i can see all her efforts!👏👏👏!!
Love your channel , greetings from Canada my friend 😊
Thank youu ❤️
Sir, I wish you would tackle about unicorn var plants such as Variegated philodendron temptation.
Whoaaa Im not really into rare plants though 😀😀 they are great when I see them but I dont go hunting for them 😝
Hi. Where did you get those white plastic tutors? I loved them...
They are kind of everywhere here in Indonesia and Bangkok, with most garden supply stores selling them. I recommend looking it up on amazon or in a garden supply store near you.
👍👍👍👍💚💚💚💚😍😍😍😍😉
very very beautyful! do you know the TL - lamp she used?
Im not familiar but she can be reached our on Instagram @janfoliage
Im sure she will be happy to answer 😀
I'm kind of bored of variegation. That being said, it's a cool collection and even cooler to have it indoors.
😀😀
What kind of moss poles are those? They look perfect! Where can we get them?
In southeast asia they can be bought in any plant stores. I would look in amazon under “plant pole” perhaps?
@@onlyplants I make my own that look similar...but hers are really cool because only a strip of the moss facing the plant is exposed. It must slow down the evaporation from the moss considerably. Maybe she just adds a piece of plastic.
What are her moss poles ade of??? Looks great.
Looks like white plastic casing. If Im not wrong the inside stuffing is this felted wool material used in insulation for building construction…
hi im going to thailand for a week in november, where do you suggest that i can go to buy just wishlist plants that wont be so expensive.
Chatuchak plant market for sure. Its a few videos after this one.
@@onlyplants thank you so much for replying!!!!!!!
Hello, really wonderful your traveling videos about plants
I’m asking you if you know any good nursery in Bangkok area for Aglaonema please let me k
I’m planning to visit Thailand
Thanks
Greetings from France
Hello, I have no experience with aglaonemas in Thailand but definitely hit up chatuchak market on Tuesday-thursday. You’ll see aglaonema stands there. Chances are you can ask them where their nursery is located
Thanks a lot and what is the best day to go that market is it Tuesday morning or Thursday please let me to arrange my trip
Merci
Does variegation matter if it’s natural (sun) or artificial (LED) lights? Or is constant lighting no matter which one you subject your plants to that promotes variegation?
In my limited knowledge and experience talking to growers, I would say they are the same.
But I or my guests could be wrong. Someone has to do a double blind study with a large population to be able to test this theory out
What kinds of shelves is she using? Where can I find them?
They look like warehouse storage shelves, made of steel. Ikea would have something similar but a hardware store or shelving supply should have it too 😀
Where to buy that kind of vanilla
I got mine online… they are actually very cheap and a lot of sellers should have them
What type of light she is using? Is it normal fluorescent light or growlight?
Normal household fluorescent light.
Thank you so much 🌹
How I get a hold of her I want to buy some plants

@@onlyplants wow congratulations Sean! You thibk if everything! You're doing a superb job !!
Wearing a mask why?????
This was filmed in April, at the height of the epidemic in Bangkok. In asia, mask wearing is also a sign of courtesy and respect for another.😀
