- Episode #146: Two Bald Guys Eat Stuff and Talk About It
What's the best tasting fish stick? The Two Bald Guys try 5 different brands in a blind taste test and rank them all...somethin's fishy here!
PRICES OF TESTED ITEMS:
$1.25 - Banquet Fish Sticks and Mac N Cheese
$4.99 - Fish Boy Fillets
$5.29 - Van de Kamp's Fish Sticks
$5.99 - Mrs. Paul's Fish Sticks
$6.49 - Gorton's Fish Fillets
So obviously the concept of a "stick" is lost on these guys
Just got em they are in the fryer
Fish sticks are good! But I've realized the concept of putting them in the oven was a NO for me. So instead I started deep frying them. They taste different and wayyy better and are crunchy:) Great video!
They're good in the oven on a copper air fryer.
Fish “ticks!” Made my day! 😆
@@HectorJPeabody mine too! I didn't know fish got ticks. 😆🤣😂
@@melanier7309 will try it!
@@HectorJPeabody 🤣🤣omg I need to edit that!
SO they did a Fish STICK comparison using Fish Sticks and FILLETS? 👌
My biggest pet peeve about frozen fish sticks is they all seem to try and rip you off by selling you a bunch of breading, with the least amount of fish inside they think they can get away with. It actually kind of pisses me off, because it always feels like a scam. Why can't anyone just bread fish fillets and sell them? I wouldn't even mind paying a little more, as long as I get what I'm paying for, and not just a bunch of breading.
I've only tried Mrs. Paul's, Gorton's, and Van deKamps all in my air fryer and all fish stick size.
Gorton's tends to get an overcooked taste when cooked the recommended time and is undercooked if cooked for less time.
VdK and MP both come out perfect each time and have such a similar taste profile that I just buy whichever is cheaper.
Gorton’s is the best hands down.
Nah Captain barnacles we're the best. But you had to buy those off him in the alley.

Agreed 👍
That’s because he adds msg.
Not really a fair comparison. Some of the fish sticksl or actually fish fillets. All items should read fish sticks too be fair. Other wise great reviews guys.
you guys do some really cool reviews!! this channel deserves waaaaay more subscribers!! From a fan in the UK :)
Thanks we appreciate the love from across the pond!
Do they even make mrs. Pauls anymore? I can't find it anywhere.
What do you feel like watching? I don’t know. How about a couple of guys eating fish sticks? Sounds good...
some of those are fish fillets, not fish sticks.
You guys may not know this, but a decade or so before you recorded this, Mrs. Paul’s was head & shoulders above the rest of the field as far as taste went, as they used to use Cod. When they switched to Pollack, like most every other brand, they tasted & taste like every other brand to one degree or another. They were so good in their original form that I usually couldn’t help but finish a pack in one sitting. I can still recall the wonderful taste as I write, truly addicting. I haven’t yet since tasted any fish stick that comes close 😢
Fishsticks are shaped like... sticks! There were only two brands of actual fishsticks in this review.
Sticks come in all shapes and sizes... ALL STICKS MATTER
only two of the brands you actually tested are actually fish sticks. I think you're confused...just sayin.... a stick is in the shape of a stick not a filet.... and they're two totally different products the way they're manufactured and the fish that they use.
I’m just tryna figure out when Gordon’s became gorton’s….carry on…
You cannot compare any of the frozen sticks to Costcos Kirkland sticks. Hands down.
I think Mrs. Paul and Van de Kamp's are basically the same company. Van de Kamp's mainly sold in the west, Mrs. Paul's in the east.
I put some peanut oil on the pan before I put them in the oven, use to fry them but that's too much effort. I think the oven frying actually works better.
You guys need to try Gordon's Super Crunchy fish sticks from Sam's Club. Best I've ever had
They did
@@JaxsonBrower fish sticks and fish fillets are not the same thing
My local Kroger and other grocery stores have them. They are the only ones I’ve bought for some time now. Yummy.
Gortons Crispy Battered fillets in the AIR FRYER so yummy
@@karimcheese7257 my job make the Gordon's fish sticks almost everyday on one line and we sell them at Sam's Club and I have to say they pretty good
Thank u I just brought a big bag 💯😊💯
Dan D Kramp is my favorite!
Van Der Kamps Fish isn't a brand you find regularly at Walmart or Kroger where most people grocery shop. Mrs Paul's is always there.
I would have say the exact opposite here in Illinois. I’ve never seen Mrs Paul’s before
Best ones I have tasted are Youngs -Walmart used to have them but I do not see them anymore
Have Jones and Dave ever done a best tasting frozen turkey meatballs or frozen meatballs in general??
They should make fish sticks with salmon
Yes, they’re mostly all made with the same fish, Pollack. More than a decade shoMrs. Paul’s used to be made with Cod, head & shoulders above the rest taste-wise. Since they too turned to Pollack, they taste more or less like the rest 😢
@@raymeedc ):
Before I even watch the video hands down it’s mrs Paul
I've tried all of the major brands and NONE of them are good. When somebody can make fish sticks like they served in the schools during the 70's and prior, THEN they will have something to brag about. Until then...FUGGITABOUTIT !
brian pontiff exactly. Mrs Paul’s was good now ruined taste like crap
Gosh, I miss the fish sticks from the 1960s.
How to compare 1960’s prepared food stuffs to per say 1999 prepared food stuffs.
What was the deal with 1960’s fish sticks? Bigger? Healthier? Fresher?
@@walmartpimp2 The breading was about the same, but the fish part was thicker, cut from fillets of delicious Atlantic cod, and they were inexpensive.
Ms. Paul's use to have the best tarter sauce maker packets ever been over 30 years since I am have had her fish filets
Not to mention great tasting fish sticks at the same time, as they were then made with Cod. Once they switched to Pollack like the rest of the industry, they were never nearly as tasty again 😢
iglo visstick gang on top
Trident is the bomb
I bought the Mrs Paul's . Horrible!!!! Breading was thick n greasy. Fish was paper thin. Wasted 30 minutes cooking.
why are people in this comment section constantly on about "its not all fish sticks tho" its walmarts freezer section. i cant even see one child complaining like this. i can see the child saying just gimme some fish. simple as that. i didnt search for sticks. only walmarts frozen fish. and these blokes showed me which im gonna buy tonight. havent had fish in a couple years but my online fishing game makes me want to eat some fish while i watch my fisherman eat fish. gotta catch a few first though hahaha. "russian fishing 4" online game (on steam) for anyone that wants to check it out.
Eating us fellow fish is a crime you know
I used to swear on Gorton's, I'm originally from Massachusetts. Then...I had Van de Kamps...and I'm hooked line and sinker. I think they're great. I now live in Indiana ( yes, I know...boohoo for me, because nothing beats real seafood) but I've made the switch. Van de Kamps wins me over. Don't pay any attention to jerks. I don't like any of them, and I looked this up, because I wanted to know. I do this every time I eat something new, or even the same just to see opinions. Keep doing what you do. Be safe out there, hell... people bitch, but when there's nothing left to buy...they'll still complain about everything.🙄✌️❤️
Y'all need to open some stores here in Brevard County Florida. We have Kennedy Space Center... 😉🌞🌴
Ruined Mrs Paul’s taste terrible now
Just finished cooking some Gorton's fish . Crispy on the outside and soggy tasting on the inside. I ate one. Gave the rest of them to my dogs.
Van De Kemp grossed me out. Went from Trident Breaded fish cod 🐟. Boy what a down grade. I may pay more than double, but damn is it worth it.
Soggy texture.
Hahahahhaha
fish flavored bread sticks anymore... lol
Mrs Paul’s is my favorite
Are those deep fried or oven baked
Catfish? OK I'm done.
FR lol, catfish is about on the same level as cod for me (both 3/10 fish that are edible but not great).
Trident for me ..
That's not a fish stick that's a fish finger.
fisher boy has always been the worst by far, they taste like dried paint chips.
ketchup or marinara *(explosion sound)* !!!
Why not both?
(With a dab of hot sauce.)
My mom never comes home with any of these brands. But we don't live in a southern state we live in a American state.
I just bought the blue box (winner) omg it is good !! SIDE NOTE try eating your fish sticks wit syrup and ketchup *thank me later*
My sister-in-law eats them with BBQ sauce & potato!
(actually it was good!)
what are you a gay fish?
Y'all just eat it lol
Very upsetting this channel died
Gay fish...
Since when is fried stuff or fried fish supposed to be buttery 😂🤔
I down graded from Trident panko breaded cod to Van De Kemp fish filets. I found this breaded Kemp fish disgusting. It's mixed mushy cheap fish loaded with butter and artificial oils. The flavor and texture is at the lowest grade. I couldn't eat much of it at all. I hope my 🐱 will like it.
I am going back to Trident fish cod filets. They are flacky, not just or cheap. The quality is far superior to much of that breaded 🐟 you purchase in the store. I may pay a bit more but the quality is so much more worth it. I will do my best to stay away from this low grade 🐱 food they call breaded fish.
what are you, a gay fish?
So you guys are gay fish ?
The full bald guy agreed on every rating the balding guy went with. lol nice review you seem like chill guys. I went to your more recent vids. If ya'll really want views bring Avery on the hub and do a review of her on there. She looks like she's very dirty. Assuming you aren't related to her. If she is married to one of you. You need to share her with the other bald guy. Stop being greedy. She is a great girl. She carries the channel and she is your key to success.
Here's the problem with at least Gorton's and Van de Camps fish sticks and why you shouldn't buy them. The package pictures a fish stick having a generous amount of fish surrounded by a thin layer of breading. But the opposite is true - almost no fish and a thick layer of breading. This has been going on for years. I bought some of each brand just so I could return them to Fred Meyer, a division of Kroger. This is another case, among many, of deceptive packaging. The stores selling them are complicit in this practice. You can't avoid the retailers 'cause they don't give a crap but you can sure avoid the product. Are these bald guys getting a kickback on the food products they pimp?
You guys look like you eat fish sticks.
Its a disgrace eating frozen fish such as those brands. Buy it fresh. Eat it fresh.
