- The rookie phenom Jake Guentzel helped the Penguins to a second consecutive Stanley Cup this past year. After scoring 33 points in the regular season, he exploded for 13 goals and 8 assists in 25 playoff games. He was even considered a Conn Smythe candidate by some. He lead the playoffs in goals, even though he didn't score a single goal in the 7-game Eastern Conference Final against the Ottawa senators. In my opinion he continued to be pretty dominant in that series, but Craig Anderson robbed him on several occasions and Guentzel also hit several posts. The goal total could have been even higher if he was more lucky that series. Regardless of that he tied the rookie points record as an American. The Penguins future is bright with this young 22 year old.

No Jake Guentzel and the Pens don't win the cup in 2017. The Pens definitely need a healthy Jake Guentzel.

Guentzel works so well with Crosby and they are so in sync all the time. One of the best pairs. I have high hopes that Guentzel is a forever penguin
Rebekah Ratt I agree. I feel like Guentzel's style mixes well with Crosby. Guentzel has looked good I'm the preseason, like really good. I hope he continues to do that throughout the regular season and playoffs.
Bobby T. Oh definitely I feel like he can only improve from where he is now. he's shown us that even though he's young and still sort of a rookie he can easily play with the big guys. He blended well with the team and I think Crosby saw that and definitely in a way took him under his wing. Their whole dynamic works really well and it shows on the ice

Bear lol, I was about to quit watching, I can usually feel when we are going to lose, it's an instinct, but for once I was wrong. That goal caught me completely off gaurd (in a good way).

I would have been happy if he did get it but i'm thinking if he would have got a bit more production in the sens series he'd have gotten it because he was great the other three rounds
HD Tributer Vlogs I was pulling for him, but seeing Crosby win it wasn't too surprising. It was between Crosby and Malkin in my opinion, Guentzel was close, but it was probably a long shot. The true MVPs are Fleury and Murray though. Goaltending won the Conn Smythe in my opinion.
I believe Sid assisted a bunch of game winners including one that resulted in Guentzels overtime hat trick and of course Kunitz's series winner against the Sens those won him some big points towards getting the smythe

People forget about Conor Sheary since he usually doesn’t get on the scoresheet but the reason why I really liked him was because he always played with so much speed and energy. He forced countless turnovers and created odd man rushes.
I love him!! Every thing about his game. I don't care what anybody said about him, he belongs on Sidney 's line forever for many many reasons, He is so similar to Sid and no matter line he is on he creates offensive with his defensive. It so much to say . I hope he replaces Connor inconsistent clumsy butt Connor belongs on 3 line mostly 4 line definitely needs to be traded this season.
Tiny Tiny I agree with you opinion on Guentzel. He is almost an extension of Crosby. I disagree with Sheary. During the regular season he went through about a month of time where he was the hottest player in the NHL, period. He had a great regular season, yet he struggled in the playoffs. You can't judge a guy based off of one full NHL season. Give him some time, he was still classified as a rookie last year. Also he found his game in the finals, and was a key player in those big games. Trading him could be a big mistake in the future.
Bobby T. I guess maybe its me.. I don't like him .. he doesn't not bring it .. maybe my mind will change one day .. Well if not trade , he should be on three or 4th line , he is too inconsistent and he did not get hot ,Crosby make him looks good. The hottest player (s) to me on the Penguins were Sid, Geno,Jake, Shultz,Cole , Horrny , Rowney and Phil among players on the team who brought it regular then postseason. I don't think he bring it he lacks so much . He lost . Turnovers. No forechecking.Never ready for the puck. He mess up plays when Sid beat off his man off puck... the boards even on the rush etc .. mHe brings Crosby down my observations from being at many games definitely from watching games over and over. ...Its times I see he is frustrated with him ( on the bench from expressions)on his line then when its Jake Horrny Rust even Kunitz on his line he is very happy and do his thing . It shows through regular and postseason especially in the playoffs. Sid' s is better off with Jake Horrny or Jake Rust on line with rotations this season. In game one against Jackets Sheary said "Our line didn't play good" No Sheary you didn't Crosby and Jake did with defense forechecking with try create offense .if you go back you will see.
Tiny Tiny I still tend to disagree. I think Sheary can be a top line forward, but that all depends on the best way to set up the lines. Sheary is skilled in my opinion, he just was a little off during the playoffs. If you watch him in the finals he played pretty well too.
