- The Hawes Trail Alliance brings us Sunset Ridge; the newest, funnest, and most difficult trail in the Hawes network. Too soon to say it's is one of the best mountain biking trails in Mesa? Certainly a fun spot to hit if you are looking to do some MTB in Phoenix. Most Hawes Trails don't have the technical aspects of South Mountain biking, or Gold Canyon, but don't sleep on Sunset Ridge. A mile of techy fun, sure to bring a smile to your face.

Mountain biking footage shot between the Gopro and Skydio2 for a good perspective of what Hawes has to offer; both the trail and the amazing Salt River scenery.

Strong work, man! Some of the best shots of sunset ridge that actually show a bit of how gnarly it is. 💯🤘
That looked pretty gnarly!!🤘🤘
Well done video! Looking forward to ride Sunset Ridge over the holiday break.
Should be awesome conditions with all the rain. Enjoy!
I was there (from WA state) last month - Hawes, South Mountain, Brown's, etc.. Had a blast. The new DH trail at Hawes was killer!
We moved down from WA a couple years ago (Vancouver). It's a different kinda riding but really tough to beat the winter weather.
Awesome video Boss... as always.
Appreciate that
Nice job man. You’ve inspired me to go ride it.
Have fun. If you're comfortable on Ovaries (NRA) or Geronimo and CDL at South Mt, this is doable. If not, it may be a bit of hike a bike. I've seen a few nasty crashes out there... Take some time to check the sections if you aren't following a rider you trust.
Hello Mike, appreciate your reply and hope your life changes are one benefit and prosperity. Homeward bound at the end of the month whereby it will be great weather to MTB. See you on the trails...
Great video again. I really enjoy the different angle you have . You certainly made this trail look easy. The drone footage really gives a good perspective of the trail. Keep it up thank you. Word of advice to the average Joe rider. Read the sign , twice!! I wish I had . It does not get any easier as you go down. Ha!
Appreciate it. Looking for something a little more flowy and fun, check out the new big sister trail!
You did great down a very very tough trail. I’m still getting my lines together down Pure Ovaries. This was a really nice edit.
Appreciate it! This is a nice step up from Ovaries... But I think I still prefer RMR as my fav Hawes trail.
He makes this look easy, it’s actually hard and scary as hell. I walked my bike most of this trail - it’s a long ways down.
Really good video!
Appreciate that!
Excited to go in November with my bro Scott. I'm sure they'll be a lot more snow but that will make it more challenging for us.
Snow 😂
I did this trail after watching your video. You made it look easy! You're so neutral on the bike and in full control. Impressive. The trail did get majorly chewed up during the MBAA race though
Thanks! I rode this before and since the race... I certainly prefer the pre race version. Will be interesting to see how it does after some rain.
That trail is definitely not an easy one to clean.
Do you have someone who pilots the drone or does it just follow you?
This is the Skydio drone and it follows on it's own. It still requires that you frame the shot, move the drone to the right location, and occasionally stop to get the drone back on track. But not too bad for solo recording. It also requires quite a bit of editing to get any close up shots. And, as you can see, I'm still learning how to get the color correction right:)
Mike, Truly disappointed that I have reached out to you on numerous occasions both complimenting your videos and wanting to ride with you since we both live in Mesa and with NO avail or response from you!
No disrespect intended, just had some significant life changes that really limit my availability to ride. I don't always plan my rides as much as just hit the trails when a time opens up. Again, no disrespect intended, just don't have the flexibility I used to.
Always love your videos. Drone gives a great perspective.
