I have been doing Carotid sonograms for the past 7 years and I believe the ICA measurements she was getting was actually the ECA. If you noticed the ICA prox and ECA measurement are almost the same. Who agrees with me?
Oh good... not just my imagination.. I was thinking that is such a high resistance ica prox. & mid.. However, I think she got the correct ica when she did distal ICA.
Excellent. In my clinical rotations, the radiologist is always thankful for a cine loop of the CCA and vertebral to show direction of flow in both. This video is excellent for showing up to optimate the machine for vascular scanning.
Woah, I barely started doing CCA protocol in my DMS class and this is all so crazy to me. The speed at which she does it, her left hand is so fluid, and it looks seamless.
on rt ica prx and mid that you show it looks like it is eca instead, note the high resistant waveform on the doppler now for the rt ica dist looks good due to the low resistance waveform .....just my opinion
-I WONDER HOW COULD SHE FIND PROXIMAL,MID, AND DISTAL ICA AT THE SAME SPOT AND UNDER THE CHIN. -THE LAST WAVE FORM IS DEFINITELY THE TRUE ICA WAVE FORM, THE PREVIOS TWO WAVEFORMS (PROXIMAL, AND MID ICA WERE WRONG) -SHE SHOULDN' HAVE POSTED THIS VIDEO.
If your doctor tells you that you have barely detectable thickening, what does this mean? Does it refer to plaque within the artery wall, or is there so much plaque, say 1.5mm thick that it is pushing slightly into the artery?
I HAD THIS done and asked if they can put it all on cd with sound and movie but they said its against state and federal law and they can only give me stills on cd

Did you try tapp test for ICA/ECA to differentiate them?
I though the same, because of the end diastolic velocity

Yes, embarrassing. Proximal and distal ICA diastolic flow are completely different.

In rt int carotid you obtain the external carotid

exact like what I was thinking. sharp peaks with sharper sound for eca. ica shows fuzzier waveforms. good vid tho.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed that as well. She definitely measured proximal ECA and mid ECA instead of ICA.
I also agree that those high resistance blood flow were obtained from proximal and mid ECA, not from ICA
