  • Quick video with brief overview on doing the throttle body sync on my 2023 MT-10. Couldn't really find any videos on UA-cam of it

    If anyone is in the Charlotte, NC area and wants general maintenance done (plugs, TB sync, filter), let me know

    Very good. We'll done.
    There is another tool called STM air flow meter. It was made by a German company to synchronize carburetors in the old days. It is useful to measure the butterfly opening and adjust them. That will help a lot from 0 to 50% throttle response. Not expensive, about €70 euro

    Great video. I will be keep this in mind and never knew it was this easy. Love the racefit exhaust. Waiting for them to release an xsr900 version soon.

      Yea its easy. I would of done mine sooner, but didnt want to purchase the tool. Its paid for itself though, cause I've done all my friends bikes. The MT-10 is a pain to take apart compared to say an R1, but the syncing process is easy

      @@RotorRidesNC yeah def not hard at all especially if you’re mechanically inclined. Hard to trust anyone with my cars or bikes. Was a bit disappointed hearing about the throttle body sync was a necessary maintenance. But isn’t so bad at all after watching your video.
      Thank you again for taking your time to post a short and concise video on the throttle body sync procedure.

      @@ASBP12 No problem! I dont trust the shops in my area either, especially the dealer I got it from. I dont want to, but will probably be doing the valves myself too

      @@RotorRidesNC hope to see a video on that soon! I know how to adjust valves on a car but wondering if it’s any different on a motorcycle.
      Thanks again 🍻

      @ASBP12 Yea. I've done them on small block Ford and Chevy.
      Bike valves are different. Unlike car valves that loosen, motorcycle valves tighten. That's why it's super important to check them at the right interval, otherwise literally grenade your motor
      Basically pull the valve cover. Timing chain has marks you line up. Use a feeler gauge and check the gap. If it's too tight, you chnage the shim to get the desired gap. Most Yamaha's don't need adjustment at the first interval. Still wanna check though

    Great video thanks. I am very sceptical that any dealer would check this at the first service after break in. I didn't quite see the adjustment screws, are they running parallel to the horizontal plane or the vertical plane? Good work. And lastly do you rev the bike to see if they stay synchronised throughout the rev range? Regards.

      I would be skeptical a dealer would check it too, just because of the amount of work involved. On the R1 you can do it with the air box on.
      They stick out of the TB horizontal. There is a small brass flathead screw. Screw it in to increase vacuum, screw it out to lower. You rev it after each adjustment a few times, but it only needs to match at idle

    Did you have any trouble getting to the other 3 adjustment screws with a standard flat blade screwdriver? Trying to avoid buying the Tim Burton looking tool Yamaha sells for this.

      @RotorRidesNC  Місяць тому

      @@CombatMagnum nope. They're all relatively easy to get to. I used a somewhat fine tip, 4 or 5" long flat head

    So the first time that needs checked. Is at 8000 thousand miles ?I've got a 2022 with 4500 miles.

    • @RotorRidesNC
      @RotorRidesNC  5 місяців тому

      Supposed to be done at the 600 mile break in, and then every 4k miles afterwards. I dont see it as that necessary personally. I'll probably do it every 8k

      Are these intervals the same for the first gen MT10?@@RotorRidesNC
