  • I measured the approximate radius to be about 6 ft across which would be 12 ft diameter

    Hello Linda.

Tu as allégé mon cœur ! Je t'aime, mon ami !
      Hello Denis! I read your comment and have to say what beautiful things to say! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I thought of something similar to what you said about taking a piece of wood from the tree and making something beautiful! The tree will live forever! You"ve lightened my heart! Love you my friend!

    😢 Oh linda that is so sad . Plus the price is a big burden ! Thank GOD ya have a lil time to maybe save for that. So sad to loose a tree from your yard. It would be sadder to of not noticed and something worse happening though. Much Respect and Blessings to you and your family.

    Man, that could be expensive. My guess is eight feet around it. I'm curious to what it measures. Sorry to hear about this ♥ Skunk in the grass!!! Oh, it's Sylvester.

      Hello Shlisa! Yes, they came by today and it will cost $2500! The tree trunk where I measured it (best I could) is about 6ft maybe 61/2ft radius which would be 12 to 13 ft the diameter of the trunk. It's so sad to me that it died. I talked to the guy and he said it was beetles that killed it. I told him that I remember putting my hand on the trunk and I smelled my hand cuz there was this funny odor ( not like pine) and thought that maybe the beetles hand emitted some kind of odor. I will have the tree cut down tomorrow! I think it takes up to 6 months for fatwood to form. I'm keeping some of the lower trunk and some limbs going into the tree.
      ~Lol Skunk. Sylvester is a lil stinker sometimes 😆

      ~Yeah, I'm saddened by it dying and still can't believe it. Beetles killed my pine tree. I'm gonna have them put some of the pine tree they cut down in my back yard. They will cut it down tomorrow. and just think that tree is over 6ft wide and I'm only 5' 3" tall. Thank you for coming by Dish!

    Im glad your getting it cut down, where i live, we have a lot of ash trees an we had infestation of beetles and the trees looked good on outside but were hollow, we had some high winds an they were dropping all over the place. Sure will be interesting to see what fatwood it has, especially where it was hit by lightening.

    • @ShlisaShell
      @ShlisaShell Місяць тому +2

      I remember the ash bore coming through and taking out the trees over a ten year span. Still so sad. I remember trees like I do friends. Have since I was four. I've watched so many trees grow up and have kids of their own. I wouldn't be surprised if Linda's tree only has a little to no fatwood in the dead branches. I've been skunked many times with dry dead trees like that. Not a drop of resin.

      That's just horrible to think a tree is fine and healthy but on the inside it is being destroyed by beetles. They remind me of termites. Awful! From what I understand about fatwood forming, it takes at least 6 months. I don't know if any has formed in it except for the knots that are already there. However, I am getting some of the tree they cut, put in my back yard.

    Sad your tree died. I’m guessing your neighbor wanted you to know because telling transfers all the liability to you, should it fall and cause damage.

    When I was a child we had one that was about 15’ around and another about 10’ around. The city cut the big one down when they paved the street. And the other may still be there but I don’t know. And huge cones! And dozens of brown thrashers around. You don’t see them
    Much any more.

      Hello larkljc! Wow! That 15' is huge! Mine is about 12' around. That's just SOooo sad for them to cut that beautiful tree down. Too bad they couldn't pave the road around the tree😆Wow! Huge cones? I wonder what kind of pine tree it was?? Very interesting. I know that we have some longleaf pine trees here and the cones are bigger than my loblolly. @@lindacampbell9187 my dad said he was kind of glad the city took care of it because he didn’t want to have to do it! It was tall too. It was the tallest tree around just love pine trees. I think it was actually in the way of the ditches they were putting in.

      @@pysvtfa4 yeah. It had to be about 1968-70? We came home from school one day and it was gone!!!! We were shocked. Apparently it was partially on the easement so they just took it down. That’s one reason my dad bought that house. He loved the trees. We were almost in a pine forest! Shady in the hot southern summers. There was unincorporated land all around the neighborhood and we ran the woods in the summers and swam in the creek. Close to the river and there were cold springs and blue holes in the woods. Blackberries everywhere
