Awesome tips! Thank you for a very informative video. I have a TON of cross stitch/craft magazines. I just listed a small bundle it sold within 5 minutes of listing. WOW! :)
My best & luckiest find was 1600 sports magazines for $200. Ranging from mid 1970s to early 2000s. Mostly 1980-90s. The first issue I sold went for $25-30.
I am new to online selling. What is the best way to ship the magazines? Should I ask yhe post office? I am not understanding how to figure out the best and least expensive way to ship. Thanks for all of your info. It really is helpful
Great question- first and foremost, remember you can't use media mail for magazines (due to advertisements in mags). Your options then go to first class and priority. First class is good if light enough, but cuts off at like 13oz. I you have a single mag, this may be best. Otherwise you will use priority mail. Here, get your weight and check cost between regular priority, flat rate, and the regional rate boxes. The regional A is often the best deal, unless you have a big stack- then flat will be best. There are flat rate card board envelopes too- if you can fit in those and put in a backer board, they may work- but I'm partial to boxes for protection. Hope that helps!
Old video, but for those who don't know, check out Priority Mail Cubic shipping for bundles of magazines. Pirate Ship can do it, but it's not an option on ebay. It's usually around 9 dollars for me to send 10 or 20 pounds of magazines in a lot.
I have to log into Pirate Ship and from there import my ebay listings. It would be nice to have the option right in ebay for sure. Pirate Ship works nice though!
What do you do when you have magazines that have someone’s name and address printed on the label box? Do you put a label over it or don’t worry about it.
I have about 100 older Nintendo magazines, but don't want to list individually or sell them as lots. Have you done any single listings with multiple items (sports card sellers use them a lot)? They usually list them as "complete your set"... Curious if you've had any success with that type of listing. Thanks.
Thanks for the video! I have a question , what do you do if there’s a sticker with the Previous owners address and name on the sticker on the front of the magazine? Do you try to rip it off or cut it out Or use a sharpee to mark it out?
Hi- I just leave them. If I were to do anything I would try to use a hair dryer or heat gun and gently remove them, but with magazines it is dicey. I just prefer to leave them.
I have not. I had some once but decided the ones I had were not worth the effort and just donated them. Since they can’t go media mail, I would look at priority mail boxes if total weight is over a pound. For one or 2 you can basically just keep the box “flat” and insert mags wrapped in paper. Of course for larger lots you can expand the box. Just check box dimensions on the USPS site. They will actually deliver boxes for free. Also, check dimensions on priority regional rate boxes- they can provide cheaper rates. Finally when shipping, check Pirate Ship rates vs eBay or USPS. They use cubic shipping and can be less expensive for thin items- especially if you use the boxes in “flat mode”. Hopefully all that makes sense.
Ordered a big program for my self to keep. They folded a box over the magazine and bubble wrapped the cardboard over the magazine then through that in a big envelope. No damage when it arrived.
If they are the Hero Illustrated mags, not for too much. Maybe $1-3 each depending on issue, condition, and if in lots. Just go to ebay and type in the magazine title. Switch on the 'sold items' filter and see what sold comps are.
@@SuperDstepp Hmmm- good point. When I buy them second hand and addresses are there, I figured someone donated them with the info there so no big deal. I guess it depends on how sensitive you feel that info is. Your shipping label on the postage could have your address too.

I just got a huge haul of free magazines from an estate sale. I was so happy and the people just looked at me like I’m crazy.
Great video. Appreciate the knowledge!

How do you store your inventory? I see the book shelves behind you, so I’m in curious!
I store on those 2 shelves and 2 more to the side. I just did an inventory video last week on the system, but basically on 4 set of bookcases.
great vid, awesome examples thanks for the knowledge.

I don’t worry about it. Just make sure it is in the description.

Have you sold and shipped the oversized Life magazines before? Any recommendation for shipping those?
