As a new seller on Ebay with around 300 books currently, Ive made $4,300 in my first 51 days of selling. 61 books sold in total. Nonfiction/ vintage fiction are my two top categories. Definitely have a good amount of my success to attribute to your tips & tricks! I look for 10X or more net profit per book, which means I hunt for $15 & over listed price books for $1 or under, and will pay more as the potential listed price goes up. I source almost daily at 1-3 different locations, and am lucky to see a few library book sales every weekend. Im VERY fortunate to be in the Chicagoland area where tons of books were produced, with a significant population of people donating to libraries.
Man I miss my library sales! Having a few each weekend would be awesome. I'm told our main library will have one January 29! You are growing fast! Keep up the hard work!
I am currently going through my book inventory and finding that many of my book listigs have just disapeared from ebay. Some books have sat on my shelf for years while I assumed they listed and they were not. My suggestion is to implement some sort of audit system to ensure that you listings are still live or they will just sit there taking up valuble space and collecting dust. Great info though, Live long and prosper.
Buyer pays the shipping. Have to almost get books for free. Then it can work but no real big profit unless you are getting rid of lots of books. And hopefully a few high priced books!
I was gifted more than 100 books like you I wonder how can anybody sell a book for $ 3.99 free shipping and make any money some of these books are best seller books but the avg. sell price run around $ 4 to 5 dollars
Portland Oregon is not the place to be a book scout anymore.. Every time I hit an estate sale, thrift store etc. I now have to compete with at least 3 other book scouts. And it has gotten ugly! I now pack a 9mm. Dog eat dog, law of the jungle!
Very good video!! Effort & Sources matter most. Also once you hit a certain point it will plateau for us as 1 person book sellers. The books will sell just as quick as we find them and our equilibrium will be hit. There definitely is lots of opportunities to start a book business and make lots of money!!
Thank you for the info! What kind of Non - fiction books would average a net profit of 18-29$ per book?Im an FBA newbie and have shipped only 2x( total of 50)
I wanted to sell some encyclopedias I had. But even shipping media mail was pretty expensive. So I’m going to lean toward single books. Thanks so much for this video. Im just looking to sell to help pay off debt.
Interesting. I’m going to figure out my per book profit average as well. I think it will be about the same as yours. It looks like we got into this for similar reasons. I had to find a way to support my baseball card collecting!
Great Video, I enjoy watching your content. I have had some success selling books but the hardest part for me is knowing which books to buy. The goodwill stores near me normally have 200-300 books that cost between $1 and .50 cents I just don't know which books to pick.
Just keep learning- that is a skill you can improve! My recommendation is to concentrate on non-fiction. Learn genres of subjects that work instead of individual titles. All of my 'haul' videos give examples of the types of book types/genres that work in my store.

I really enjoy your channel. Your information has been so helpful. I have a question. How do I sell only part of a series listed? I had 5 books listed in this series but the buyer only wanted 3 of the books. I have no problem selling the three but not sure how the transaction would go.
Hi- I have done this before too. A couple of options- 1. Just revise the listing for them to say 3 books with a new price, 2. Just have them do a best offer for a negotiated price and include in the offer it is only for the 3 books. Either works. The 2nd is simpler. Both protect you from the buyer saying you did not send the right stuff
Thanks for the videos, great information! I have around 150 erotic books from the 60's. I am trying to find their values but the majority of them have none for sale online. Some titles have articles written about them or their authors, others have ebook available. Of the 150, I have priced about 60. At least 15 have value of over $100 with the average around $50. I really don't want to invest too much time in each price since this is only a few boxes of about 15 storage units of items I have to for sell. In a situation where you can't find any information on a book, how do you suggest I price the item on eBay? Thanks so much for your time
That is always tough. I look on eBay, Amazon, abebooks, and Alibris for any kind of comp. List or sold comp. If you can’t find a title on any of those sites, search by author or subject and try to get something similar. Sounds like you have a goldmine!
Have you considered selling books on Amazon instead of, or in addition to, eBay? Do books sell faster and/or for more money on one platform vs. the other? Aside from the fixed $3.99 standard shipping fee for used books on Amazon, it's not clear to me what the difference is. If you've already done a video on this, could you post the link? Thanks, your content is very helpful.
I’m selling on Amazon now as well. Started in May. I have a couple of videos out there on my Amazon updates. Fees are higher with Amazon but sales price is generally higher too. It has been positive for me to do FBA so far. There is the shipping fee, then either $1 per item or a $40 monthly fee (the monthly gives you pro status), then there is a referral fee of about 15%. Ballpark it Adds up to 40-50% of your sales
I just checked my last 90 days- average sale price was right at $30. Average profit was $17 (includes cost of goods). A little bit down for me as I usually stay in that 18-20 range.

You sold 61 books in 51 days with an average selling price of $70.50 for each book? Where you at today? Curiosity is killing me!
@@stevehaile3325lol seriously. What cheat code is this person using?

I see books that are selling for $3.50 with free shipping, but media mail would cost me $3.89 to ship! How do these people make money?
My question too
@@tammyschindewolf8455 I ask this to multiple people, but no one ever answers me. I really want to know.

@lesliehagg8444 that's why I wonder how they charge so little. 🤔

Equilibrium. That is a nice, succinct way to phrase things. We build inventory and as we do- we approach that nice plateau and an equilibrium state.

How much time investment would you say you put in as a part timer

The eBay app will tell you if that book sold, when and the price. It’s a helpful source.
Very helpful! Thank you.

If youre on Ebay, I believe they show you the per item average on your seller page.
Yes- just be sure to back out your selling costs and cost of goods to get true profit.

I was curious if you use a PO Box or list your physical home address on the packages you mail out?
I use a P.O. box 📦

$18-20 profit per book? Average sales price of about $33?

You now to pay £25 per month to be an Amazon seller.
Those monthly fees are such a drag- especially if there is a down month for sales.
