Spider-horse, Spider-horse Eight legged steed from a magical source. Likes to help, in any way. She's not creepy, she's called Aunt Nay. Look out! Here comes the Spider-horse!
You've seen those videos when a big spider gets squished and all the baby spiders that were riding it run away in all different directions? It's like that
My favorite Dragon Magazine monster is the Chessex or "Fear Deer"! A "Fear Deer" pretty much a normal deer but has poison extruding horns. The poison causes incredibly intense fear in most creatures and thus Chessex are very bold creatures who don't back down from a fight. A fun random encounter.
The duck bunny is one of my favorites from this article. The platypus bear is something that I would like to see in Dungeons and Dragons after seeing it in Avatar the Last Airbender. There are so many combination animals in that show. Another source of combination creatures is The Croods movies and cartoon series.
Todd, thank you so much for deciding to do videos with Meagan. I love these videos. I am normally a Sea Horse (the Mythological Creature) but you have is could definitely get on board with team Spiderhorse.
I am putting these in my Dambrath campaign, it's a culture of horse nomads that was ruled by the drow, some Crinti wizard must have made some of these for the cavalry.
I always thought the duckbunny was the star of the article. The cutest, least offensive abomination against nature ever! Also, if wizards are doing this sort of thing in training, making duckbunnies is the safe choice, so there's lots of these adorable (?) things being made.
A friend of mine once ran a Half-Dragon/Half-Dragon/Squid character. And yes I intentionally listed Half-Dragon twice. He was a Monk, and spent every Boss encounter grappling the enemy with the highest CR and stuffing them into his bag-of-holding. Our GM in that game gave us WAY too much leeway. :P
I literally have a 7 legged spider mount for my Half Drow Bladesinger a couple years back from AL Liar's Eve event. I should try and reskin it to Spiderhorse.
I love SpiderHorse Its been a monster I've used in all my dnd games since I heard about it in 2010. SpiderHorses are a common drow mount in my worlds and or by adventurers.
Other hybrids from this issue (DRAGON #243, January 1998): armadillaphant (armadillo/elephant), dragonfly turtle, duck bunny, moat cat (newt/puma), and venom dog (mastiff/scorpion).
One-shot's Rock ! Chris Perkins is a god ! Spider-horse would work great in a horror game. You could spend some time down that rabbit hole. With a Lich at the end. Huzzah
As soon as you both started explaining the spider horse I was like "what the f*** is this horror!?" (not a fan of spiders, especially huge horse sized ones). But, as the vid went on I couldn't stop smiling wide (Aunt Neigh .. tee hee hee) .. The spider horse needs to become official canon material and I think I might want one too. Would make a perfect ride in any Underdark related adventures.
I also have been a fan of Spider Horse for some time. I saw it and immediately tortured my fiance with the art and description. I should point it she's scared of Spiders not horses. She loves horses.
If Spiderhorse was made like the owlbear it'd be a regular horse with a spiders head, have twice the hit points of a warhorse and no special abilities at all. 👍
The longhorse of Solara scoffs at the spiderhorse. The longhorse was created by some REALLY obscure illithid experiments that didn't create aberrations...unless you count a horse with hands as an aberration. I didn't have a horse mini. The players were doing a cart escort quest. So, we made a wagon out of a dice jail, and a player made a horse out of a piece of paper ripped from a pizza box. It was HORRIBLY drawn, it was entirely too long, and it's member...well, it was too. "Does the horse really look that enlongated?" was the question at the table. "Absolutely," I responded. I still have to add a SOLID picture, but here are it's details: www.worldanvil.com/w/realmspace-and-beyond-darias/a/longhorse-article "Beyond the length of it's broad muscular back, the feet of the longhorse are what sets it apart. Rather than ending in hooves, the legs of the longhorse end in a grasping palm similar in size to an ape, but thickly padded like that of a camel. This is beneficial to the craggy mountain terrain as it enables the animal to grip on to wide, rounded, yet uneven surfaces." Such are the creations of DMs far and wide.
So I killed my cavalier’s horse because they left them alone while sleeping and I rolled up some dire wolves as a nightly encounter that they didn’t perceive. Then after that I was looking for a way of getting her a new horse and I watched Todd’s DDB video about Ravenloft and horror with a couple other ladies that kept talking about baby hands lol. I was then introduced to Spider Horse and knew that was the proposition for her once we got to Ravenloft. She surprisingly fell in love with spider horse ever since I introduced them and now calls it her baby 😂
So are we going to get a Dungeon Masters Guild purchaseable race or will this homebrew be available on Patreon? If they (D&D/WotC) won’t make it official then release your own!
i just cloned myself so you guys can have another subscriber. both of us are working on humunculousses(?) so you can have even more subs. #Wizards4Spiderhorse!
Maybe no one brought up Spiderhorse because they assumed that they misheard what you said. 😂😂 Did she say Spiderverse? No she said she was diverse? The worst? No she seems nice
wouldnt ya know it.......the one of only a few dragon magazines i dont have....and a classic monster gem was in it!! almost as good as the lethal blade golem in polyhedron ....want players to respect monsters....have few blade golems hunt them.....never ends good...few survive to tell the tale....forget what mag #.
have had some of the most memorable hunts....oops adventures with dragon and polyhedron magazine obscure monsters.....great sources for keeping players guessing and quivering with fear....
@@Keovar as 1st edition veteran......i actually have most dragon mags in dead tree copy......and even more complete collection of dungeon mags. Yup i have the Dragon mag CDROM collection.....awesome library of goodness
Spider-horse, Spider-horse
Eight legged steed from a magical source.
Likes to help, in any way.
She's not creepy, she's called Aunt Nay.
Look out! Here comes the Spider-horse!
Everyone remembers exactly where they were when they first experienced Spider Horse.
Right here. Right now.
I was here
i prefer the spiderwhores
brothers Grimm
The Spiderhorse content we NEED...
My question is what is more upsetting, a spider-horse the size of a horse, or a spider-horse the size of a spider?
You've seen those videos when a big spider gets squished and all the baby spiders that were riding it run away in all different directions? It's like that
Spider horse, spider horse, does whatever a spider horse can.
Spins his web through the trees,
Flurry of blows with his knees
Watch out! Here comes a spider horse! (radioactive spider horse. radio active spider horse...)
The spider horse would be the ideal mount for my wereoctopus.
Love seeing the two of you working together.
Megan became a Drentaur: a centaur-Drider hybrid! 🤣
💝 you guys! Wasn't on my radar,, but now adding an undead version into my Dragon of Icespire Peak Campaign. Calling him Mr. Scary! 😆
Will Spider Horse make friends with the wonderous figurine, Onyx Horsefly?
HaHaHuzzah!
The duck bunny is one of my favorites from this article.

I like reskinning races. I’ve done changelings as slime-folk, centaurs as driders, and tortles as snail-folk. It’s fun to spring on people.
I am putting these in my Dambrath campaign, it's a culture of horse nomads that was ruled by the drow, some Crinti wizard must have made some of these for the cavalry.
Thank you for explaining this one! 🕷️🐎
Seconded
you should totally do the gnome squidling thing!
A official miniature and stat block of spider horse would be awesome.
I think the lessen is - with good roleplay you can play nearly anything
I can't wait until my players are high enough level for Spider Sharks.
a spiderhorse showed up, it was a pretty normal session. i really have to step up my game.
I'm running a Dread Metrol campaign where spiderhorses have replaced regular horses.
I always thought the duckbunny was the star of the article. The cutest, least offensive abomination against nature ever! Also, if wizards are doing this sort of thing in training, making duckbunnies is the safe choice, so there's lots of these adorable (?) things being made.
Literally laughing out loud. "Who's a good venom do... oh no, not good... calm down boy... dear gods what have we done."
Me: *See’s image of spider-horse*
Also me: *KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!*
❤️❤️❤️ I loved this episode and it’s another example of why Meagan and Todd are so endearing to all of us.
A Spider Horse is the perfect mount/companion for a Wizard.
Ok ok ok but what about an Indiana Jones boulder scene, but the boulder is a curled-up Armadelephant defending its nest
You are way underselling Aunt Mae the Spider-Horse, she needs her own breakout actual play
@@Keovar thanks, i totally misheard that.
Spider Horse? Oh... You mean Horse Spider, i.e. Hider. :D
The things you can find on the web.... like a spider horse! :D
I like the idea that spider-horses might like to prey plant creatures, since horses are herbivores, but spiders are predators.
I literally have a 7 legged spider mount for my Half Drow Bladesinger a couple years back from AL Liar's Eve event. I should try and reskin it to Spiderhorse.

Just twitted my support for the Spider Horse
Still waiting for “SpiderApes” tho
So I just discovered that Bitmoji has a spider donkey mount that made me think of y'all.
Can Druids shapeshift into a spider horse?
16 minutes of Spider Horse. You guys are the best! 😂
I had never heard of spider horse before
Totally gonna play a Dhampir centaur when Van Richten's comes out.

we all need an Aunt Nay in our lives
Can we get you guys to have a game with a spider horse player character and post a video?

They tend to scare off horses...spiders don't mind so much.
I also have been a fan of Spider Horse for some time. I saw it and immediately tortured my fiance with the art and description. I should point it she's scared of Spiders not horses. She loves horses.
spiderarmdilophant ?
Interesting I like the idea of an Armodillo elephant. Also I'll always take s Chocobo (reskin axebeak) over anything else.
I gotta use this in my game
If Spiderhorse was made like the owlbear it'd be a regular horse with a spiders head, have twice the hit points of a warhorse and no special abilities at all. 👍
Wouldn't a Drider be good for a starting template?
I was halfway through the video before I realized it was Neigh and not May.

Venom dogs need love too they can be the bestest boi
Aunt Nay is the best character I have ever seen!
A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E !
Regards from Tabasco, México [Land of The Olmecs]!
I would flavor the spell Find Steed or Phantom Steed as a spider horse.

and yet a Bugbear is neither a bug nor a bear ^_^

now off to design a menagerie of hybrid creatures to be in a wizard university research project
Yes! Yes! Aunt Nay! Of course you could do a centaur and drider stats! And add Aunt Nay to homebrew so we can all play her! lol amazing
Ha will i have a new sleep demon to add to the list i think ill name him ted

Is the back-home barn fleshed out?! All the siblings omg!
Bless y'all's hearts

I had no idea there was such a thing. It'd be my wife's favourite and worst thing all at the same time.
Such a cute couple.
Centaur half orc monk.😁😁
Ice gnomes
