People need to put their hatred for Axl Rose aside and respect the man for the fucking bad ass frontman that he was. He created some of the greatest rock music in the history of rock. He was the voice of his generation, the way that Kurt Cobain was the voice of the next. If you listen to rock stations that play 70's through 90's rock, Guns N' Roses still dominate those stations. And they have so many songs that are unbelievable that for whatever reason weren't as big as their mainstream ones, but equally as great - Such as this song for instance.

Joseph Selser I love all GNR material. Appetite, of course, is where most of their classics come from, but I personally like Illusions, 1 and 2, equally as much. Most of my favorite Guns songs come from Illusions - November Rain, Civil War, Estranged, Coma, You could be mine, So Fine, Garden of Eden, Don't Damn me, etc... Also GN'R Lies was great with songs like Patience, One in a million, crazy, etc.. And I even loved Chinese Democracy - check out songs like "Sorry", "Better" and especially "There was a time" - Great song. Greatest band ever man .

This video was my first exposure to Guns ‘n Roses. I just sat there, 8 years old, mouth agape, wondering what I’d just watched. Needless to say I was begging my mom to buy me the album the same day.
What a great song. If they would have captured this moment in time and just stayed this way, we would have surely gotten at least 5 more great albums. Doing Use Your Illusion as a double album automatically felt like they knew they were breaking up.

It means as a society and especially Hollywood, all we do is seek pleasure and sex, hence the metaphor, since the garden of Eden was a pleasure Utopia where everything was taken care of for you. The fall was that we had to work for our food and survival, but now we're somewhat past the point of survival, and trying to emulate the garden of Eden in a materialistic way by pursuing pleasure and money. The rest of the lyrics are more about the current state of the world, with religions trying to tell you what to think, and the government trying to control you.
This song is SO underrated. The overall sound, energy, attitude, and tone defines Guns N Roses perfectly. Deserved to be their most popular song, but sadly is overshadowed by songs like "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "November Rain"

True Story: Winter 1992, I was hired by a good friend to work as a Production Assistant on the video for "Garden of Eden". My friend usually only Production Managed TV Commercials as the pay was always better and the work more "humane". We all agreed to do the Music Video (Ugh!) because it was paying Commercial rates. We prepped an elaborate video shoot for 4 days. I drove a truck all over NYC picking up Props and assorted Expendables for the shoot day which would commence on the beach in Coney Island and then move to a cool old Synagogue on the Lower East Side where a heavily Art Directed set awaited. The "premise" of the video is lost to history but apparently would address Guns N' Roses feud with Motley Crue. On the shoot day we loaded up a caravan of trucks, vans and a stretch limo to await Axel, who would be the only member appearing in the first half of the shoot day. We drove to Coney Island and waited. It was 20 degrees that day in NYC and even colder on the beach. Soon, the calls started coming in from Axel's people at the Royalton Hotel. "Axel is still asleep". A couple hours later, "Axel is in the shower". A couple hours later, "Axel is eating" and on and on. We broke for dinner but a few of us P.A.'s stayed with the trucks and equipment as we passed a bottle of Blackberry Brandy back and forth to stay warm and pass the time on "Fire-watch". Finally, around 7 or 8pm the call came, "Axel's not coming, it's too cold". The shoot was completely scrapped and we did two more wrap days AND we ALL got paid. I remember the Producer commenting that he was "3 for 7" on actually getting GN'R videos completed. I did get a cool Les Paul "copy" that was originally meant to be tossed into the sea during a shot.
DIRECTOR: Okay... We're almost there. But it needs a little more chaos... a little more action. I'm gonna stick a couple of random interns in back of the drums flailing their arms. That should do it. Places everyone...

People need to put their hatred for Axl Rose aside and respect the man for the fucking bad ass frontman that he was. He created some of the greatest rock music in the history of rock. He was the voice of his generation, the way that Kurt Cobain was the voice of the next. If you listen to rock stations that play 70's through 90's rock, Guns N' Roses still dominate those stations. And they have so many songs that are unbelievable that for whatever reason weren't as big as their mainstream ones, but equally as great - Such as this song for instance.

Agreed brotha. Appetite was nothing but hits. Every song on that Album still gets played today on the radio..and its almost 30 years ago...Im not a fan boy of Gnr or Axl, but being in my early 30s, they are a huge influence in my musical taste.
Joseph Selser I love all GNR material. Appetite, of course, is where most of their classics come from, but I personally like Illusions, 1 and 2, equally as much. Most of my favorite Guns songs come from Illusions - November Rain, Civil War, Estranged, Coma, You could be mine, So Fine, Garden of Eden, Don't Damn me, etc...
Also GN'R Lies was great with songs like Patience, One in a million, crazy, etc..
And I even loved Chinese Democracy - check out songs like "Sorry", "Better" and especially "There was a time" - Great song.

It means as a society and especially Hollywood, all we do is seek pleasure and sex, hence the metaphor, since the garden of Eden was a pleasure Utopia where everything was taken care of for you. The fall was that we had to work for our food and survival, but now we're somewhat past the point of survival, and trying to emulate the garden of Eden in a materialistic way by pursuing pleasure and money. The rest of the lyrics are more about the current state of the world, with religions trying to tell you what to think, and the government trying to control you.

This song is SO underrated. The overall sound, energy, attitude, and tone defines Guns N Roses perfectly. Deserved to be their most popular song, but sadly is overshadowed by songs like "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "November Rain"

True Story: Winter 1992, I was hired by a good friend to work as a Production Assistant on the video for "Garden of Eden". My friend usually only Production Managed TV Commercials as the pay was always better and the work more "humane". We all agreed to do the Music Video (Ugh!) because it was paying Commercial rates. We prepped an elaborate video shoot for 4 days. I drove a truck all over NYC picking up Props and assorted Expendables for the shoot day which would commence on the beach in Coney Island and then move to a cool old Synagogue on the Lower East Side where a heavily Art Directed set awaited. The "premise" of the video is lost to history but apparently would address Guns N' Roses feud with Motley Crue. On the shoot day we loaded up a caravan of trucks, vans and a stretch limo to await Axel, who would be the only member appearing in the first half of the shoot day. We drove to Coney Island and waited. It was 20 degrees that day in NYC and even colder on the beach. Soon, the calls started coming in from Axel's people at the Royalton Hotel. "Axel is still asleep". A couple hours later, "Axel is in the shower". A couple hours later, "Axel is eating" and on and on. We broke for dinner but a few of us P.A.'s stayed with the trucks and equipment as we passed a bottle of Blackberry Brandy back and forth to stay warm and pass the time on "Fire-watch". Finally, around 7 or 8pm the call came, "Axel's not coming, it's too cold". The shoot was completely scrapped and we did two more wrap days AND we ALL got paid. I remember the Producer commenting that he was "3 for 7" on actually getting GN'R videos completed. I did get a cool Les Paul "copy" that was originally meant to be tossed into the sea during a shot.
