But seeing that Paul co-wrote some of the songs, he should be fine. Many bands that had bad deals with record companies for their first few records (since they were young and eager to sign on the line) hardly see any money.

The first two Iron Maiden albums with Paul DiAnno on vocals were incredibly great. Even Bruce Dickinson acknowledged that by naming his solo album "Balls to DiAnno".

I've seen Paul a few times over the years, first with Battlezone - which was a *really* good band! - and some time later with another band. You could definitely tell the drinking / abuse got to his voice... I always loved his voice on the early IM albums, and he just couldn't sing like that anymore. And that was at least 25 years ago.
He sang on one song on Jake E Lee's comeback album (Dragon Cartel), and thát voice doesn't compare to his earlier vocals either.
Shit happens, and Paul's definitely had (well more than) his share - self inflicted or not.
All that aside, I hope Paul gets better in every way.
