If it had been a real summer, the ducks could have stayed outside. But we have a cold wet windy summer so they need to stay inside a little longer. Every day they go outside for a short time to get used to the temperature, our garden, the pond and the other ducks.

I have a mini Black and Tan doxie who just turned One and I thought she was going to be as sweet as Lou Lou and Coco to other species HOWEVER we learned the the hard way…
A small bird flew into my kitchen the other day and my Mom and I were trying in a hurry to catch it so it would stop flying into the walls or windows and get hurt and didn’t think about taking Winnie (our doxie) out of the room in the meantime. Well, the bird fell behind a table and as I was kneeling under the table to get it, Winnie got to it first and shook it dead.
I screamed at her and she dropped it immediately…poor thing. I don’t blame her of course but sad all the same. We have been joking and calling her Murderer now.
Lou Lou and Coco are NOT your usual doxies...i used to own one so i know, they can be quite aggressive towards almost anything if their hunting instincts are triggered.
They can be quite grumpy and mischievious too, but i found that quite endearing...they are little rascals. ;)
Dachshund brains are wired to hunt so they can’t help it. If only they would catch palmetto bugs!

@@staren7354 yes exactly…I knew I triggered her hunting instinct because we were practically “hunting” the little bird.
She is also very mischievous and whenever she is missing we have to run to make sure she hasn’t opened the trash door. Lol!
