Installing a Longer Kickstand on the Honda CX500 Cafe Racer (FINALLY)

- The last piece to the CX500 Cafe Racer puzzle was a longer kickstand to hold the bike upright. I got one at a motorcycle salvage yard near me (APF Motorcycle Salvage Yard in Fresno), and it was from a 1982 Honda XR85 dirtbike, so the mount and the spring was in the exact same position and was a direct replacement for the stock CX500 kickstand. It all worked out!

love that wire method to remove springs, going to be using that on so much now, awesome bike too! just got my 80 model yesterday
When I lowered my bike, I ordered an extra kickstand from e-bay, then shortened it, and welded the foot. Now I have 2, original, and short. It's a good thing too, because I went back to not being lowered.
Oh, nice! Luckily the XR85 stand fit perfectly, same mount and right height for this one. I also have the unmodified stock one if I need it. :)
