heat gun and using my fingerstips as measure to when things got too hot i was able to pry it off with a very thin yet sturdy plastic sheet, slowy along the edges. if you pry off the plastic cover on the top (glued ) where the buttons are it makes the start even easier
Thanks - I just changed mine today. This was my mom's tablet where something happened so that the device only charged if the cable was plugged in with upwards tension at a 30-degree angle. Now it charges with a normal cable when lying flat. FYI I used a Philips Head 0000 (PH0000) to get the screws out. THe other thing you might mention is removing the old glue before applying new, I decided to remove all and add a new layer.
Very good detail. Thanks. USB C connectors seem very fragile. How long do you leave it on the heating pad? The bezel is very thin on the lcd. Maybe 2mm. It’s amazing they used 19 screws on the speaker cover and none to hold the back on.
Sehr gute Anleitung, besser geht es nicht. Ich habe gerade bei meinem TAB 7 die defekte Ladebuchse gewechselt. Mit dieser Anleitung ein Kinderspiel. Vielen Dank 👍
I honestly had no idea we could change that part out ourselves until this video. Going to try this on my gf tablet. One curious observation is you actually never tested the "new" usb port to ensure it works (again)? Seems the first thing I'd verify after screen turns on...
I'm a newbie to this. HELP. Should I be worried about static electricity? I'm just thinking that these electronics may be sensitive. I don't know how I could either dissipate it or keep it from building up from my activity (I have wood floors and a rubber mat on a workbench). Thanks of the video
Nice tutorial!! Mine still won't charge after this and nothing turning on 😪. I am not sure why. Took it apart and back together still nothing. Any advice?
I used a syringe to put a very small amount of rubbing alcohol in the groove around the screen to soften the adhesive. Let it set a few minutes before lifting a corner. The screen will virtually fall out.
You have to very careful when you are adding alcohol to remove the screen. Sometimes the screen get damage by showing water inside. Little is fine but be cautious
GREAT video, but after I replaced the charging port I'm now having trouble with the top 1/4 of the screen being black. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Ty
Well it is good to disconnect the power. Lcd screen is for the safety. If you are confident enough, can leave the lcd connector. You can replace the charging port while all are connected. But do not take risks.
I did everything and now you can hear the charger port works as soon as I put in charger except......now my screen s black. Any suggestions....thanks!!!
Sorry for the late reply. if the screen is not working. You need to check the connections first. But i feel like something went wrong with the screen removal. Have you sort it out?
Thank you! Fixed my tablet! A bit of a struggle getting the screen off but I did it!
Great job!

Great, yea it is a good practice to apply new adhesive
What type of adhesive is used? It wasn't mentioned in the description.

Well try to wear anti static strip

Try with another part. Sometimes the replacement part can be faulty
@Geardo I see what I did. I pushed the pry tool too far and damage the side tape on the digitizer. New screens coming but it charges lol
@@toshlarue same exact here but could not find any damage... yet the LCD is bad and shows lines... FML

@@DIYGeardo Thanks for the important tip.

Most likely the screen got damaged. This might be the closest issue. Double check all connections
Yep.....you bent it too much. Don't ask how I know.
Where can I get those binding clips? Can I use regular paper binder clips?
Rubber bands will be fine.
Why do you disconnect the battery and lcd connector? Couldn't you replace the charging port with those still connected?
