Beautiful! ALL wood and BIG, simple windows = is just so beautiful with all the lush green forest! I grew up on 5 acres in beautiful Colorado, in a home my parents built. I’ll always TREASURE EVERY memory of growing up surrounded by such natural beauty!
I'm a native as well! Whereabouts did they build at?? The lady and I wanna do that too once the new baby gets a little older. Have a few towns/areas in mind here in CO.
Spectacular! Lego's is what I kept calling Your tongue & groove milled lumber! Loved that no finish work needed, no drywall, no insulation, no outside siding, etc. I' intend on doing the same as you, with a uniquely added twist.. NO trees or wood...Waste plastic for a completely plastic house! I'll be extruding [into molds] plastic lumber in the same shape/size with same tongue & groove. Thanks for the great innovative style!
I can't believe I just sat for two hours and 20 minutes and still haven’t finished your video. Absolutely fascinating what are your construction techniques being from the US it’s exciting to see skills of people in other countries the extra steps they take while building. At my age 79 I live vicariously through you younger folks and I am absolutely fascinated buy the things some of you do. So I'm gonna watch the rest of this video and I have signed up to see what else you guys are gonna be up to in the future. Be well stay safe and I have a bunch of questions but the one most important to me is did you design us build yourself. Almost time for my bedtime.
This is an embarrassing comment but I was doing an art project and liked the light jazz music in the background. I was drawn in and stayed for the incredible craftsmanship and ability. Well done!
What strikes me most, is the work ethic! That's a lot of work and a lot of manhours all in side of 6 months! I can think of many places in the USA and abroad that the home you built would be worth a ton of money. It's a lovely and creative home........I thoroughly enjoyed watching this....especially the dinner time! :)
Love how you building your log, cabin. My grandfather did the same way in building, but of course he didn't have a motorized drill. It was all old-fashioned and thank you for not talking every 2 minutes about what you're doing. God I can't stand those youtubers like that.I love your just showing us what you're doing
Building an off-grid wooden house for your young family is not just about constructing a home-it’s about creating a sustainable and nurturing environment that fosters growth, connection, and a deep appreciation for natural living.
Wow, what a beautiful wooden house! Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship and your amazing workshop. I love that you have help from your whole family too!
I love the Ikea Kit-like feel of the house. It's so logical and stepwise... truly as if someone had designed the entire build around simplicity and function and placed it at a level of novice DIY'ers. It is truly inspiring and confidence building. I love the construction materials and techniques for assembly. It really speaks to an emphasis of quality that you just don't see in typical American construction. It has opened my eyes to a whole new world of options. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastick I never get bored watching your video absolutely you all three of too good for this job always some thing new to look well done cabin no 3 .
Hallo you two folks we so enjoyed watching your build of the house and I adore the sauna wow, I was able catch Sasha name but not the clever hubby. Lots of blessings and joy to you and your family. Sean and Alex
Great video. I got here via Nik's videos, but this is my favourite log cabin build on UA-cam so far. The style of build is similar to the "flatpacked" log cabins that we buy from Holland which we slot together without screws. I think it is fine to screw the wall logs together if you are cladding the building.
Do not be discouraged by people’s negative comments. They are sitting in armchairs & complaining about you-they are jealous that they cannot accomplish the beautiful home you have made!!
Holy cow now thats a saw mill @ 24:40 !! Awesome to have access to that bad boy, money saver for sure! Must be in the family/family business or somethin
I am very impressed by the quantity of wood workmanship. Three layers of wood is impressive. I did see the tiny mistake on the concrete foundation but it is so solidly built that house is going no where. I love it! A build that i have never seen and wow! Thank you for sharing. ❤
Finally, a house I think I could build myself. It’s so simple but strong. Don’t think I’ll fell the trees, but the cuts are smart and easily done with the right tools. Thank you so much for sharing. Great future plan too.
Greetings from Central Pennsylvania, USA. I watched the entire video and loved it all. Very interesting to see the differences in building practices in the US and Europe. My family built log houses in the NorthWest US over 40 years ago. We did not cover the interior and exterior walls as you did so that was interesting. Though we did the roof similar to what you did. Tongue and groove boards on the ceiling for the interior finish and foam insulation on the exterior covered with purlins and metal roofing. You possibly got more thermal break with your layers of purlins and your insulation was thicker. I like those metal tiles but ours was long sheet metal. It was easier to wire the house with your interior wall method. We had to drill for wiring as each layer of log was laid and no room for error. I loved all your finishes --T&G walls and tile in the bathroom. The mountain scene in the loft was beautifully done Sasha. I never made it on the roof so kudos to you. I always stayed firmly on the ground and handed up supplies. I do remember one terrifying day when I had to go up on the walls and mark the location of all the 2nd floor joists for the crew I had that day. Never got me to do that again!! Thank you so much for sharing your project.
Thanks Cynthia! Yes, there are definetly differences in building process. Haha, my wife, Sasa, she is not scared of anything 😀 she did most of the tricky jobs on roof 😀
That's pretty amazing! Will be nice to see how ur bedrooms and living room is going to be set up. I have to admit that having a kitchen and living room combined on top floor would be amazing. Having a deck off the kitchen for BBQ would be quite the view. Being that a kitchen would be high up, less chances of certain wildlife being a problem. That's just my opinion and observation of wildlife behavior.
