Should I train my birds to land on the landing board this late in the season?

This is a brilliant idea. We had the same and the birds never landed on the roof of the loft.
    1. The trap board must be long enough to the front to inspire land confidence.
    2. Coming from the training toss can be easier to land and in a race different as they can come from any direction and sometimes high
    3. From my experience they need that extra length in the front
    4. You can make it as an attachment and have a support to hold it up during racing season and then remove it after if you choose ...
I said a vid on van lint's way he did it. Ours was one long trap board like yours however the depth was longer coming more forward. I can't remember if it was 1meter or so ... It was a while back now ...

Yes, I think it is working. I thought it was a little late, but if you check today's video, you will see that they landed better. It is a good idea to put like a plywood that sticks out on race/training 👍

I’m thinking that the small trees just in front of your loft is causing your birds to first land in a higher location especially considering the direction the birds circle they don’t have a full view of the landing board when approaching. I agree with others that any change will take some time for them to adjust.

Yes, there are a lot of trees and the house that make the landing more difficult. I think they will adapt soon. Thanks

My 2 cents on this: I think your original set up is fine and your birds trap already very fast based on what I've seen in your videos. Also when birds arrive in large group, it's hard for them to all land on the landing board due to the momentum. I'd prefer them to land on the loft roof and trap in right after instead of landing on the house roof and going down. However, when they arrive individually or in small group(a few birds) like in a race, they may be able to land directly on the landing board with or without railing you have there.

Yes, My birds trap really fast without it. I was just trying them to land on the landing board to gain few seconds. I have lost races in my club for seconds. When you start racing you will see how easy is to loose races for seconds. I think if i train them to land in the landing board when they come from the race in small groups or individually they can do it in one shot. I will probably try it in the first races and see the results. Thanks for your advice

Sometimes changes spoil the enjoyment. Sometimes it's best to stick to how you always did it🤝

Forgot to let you know to remove the poles with the string just add picket fence on both sides of the loft then loop the string around the fence . String should be 1 foot off the roof

The picket white fence you have in front should stay, but add picket fencing on both sides. Tie string on each picket from side to side. At least 1 foot off the roof Don't try this with young birds till they learn the loft

I definitely wouldn’t do that. They are going to get injured. Use the roof as a big landing board. I think they will get hurt. Your original setup was fine I thought they trapped fast enough. I wouldn’t change the old setup.

Va trabajar pero el tiempo que vas a recuperar cuando paren en el landing board lo vas a perder cuando traten de bajar…se mira muy bien que paren en el landing board pero si pierden tiempo en el aire. Es lo que me pasa a mi.

Yes, the problem that they are landing on the roof of the house now and then coming down to the landing board. I tried this morning again, and it works better. Not sure if I will save time

@@quinteroloft9530 your bird’s trap fast any way but landing on the house roof is not going to save any time but they will get use to it after some time I hope 🤞.
I need to see how you get your birds in the crates I’m getting older I can catch my birds like I use to I need to see a easy way to do that thanks .

The old birds are used to landing on the roof it’s going to take awhile for them to overcome their old habits. Should work with the new youngsters.
