I'm glad Simon did a bit of an overview of the context surrounding the setting as it's been a few years since I watched Avatar, but I will watch every TTRPG let's play Dicebreaker put up as they're always guaranteed to be awesome every time!!!
I always end up rewatching it or at least seeing a reaction every year or so and I always catch things I missed beforehand, like the fact that dancing is forbidden in the Fire Nation but the original firebending form was a dance.
Read through the quickstart and it was so good that it made me create like four player characters off the cuff! Really psyched to see the full version :D
this video was posted about 1.5 years ago. Were there any changes to the rules after this video that we need to take note of? Otherwise, very much looking forward to watching this video and learning how to be a GM for the game. Just got my kickstarter kit this week and am preparing for my first group!
I thought it was a proper rpg as well considering it's got a Kickstarter and it's been taking months. But once I learned it's a fantasy imagination game you can imagine my disappointment that so many people are paying a group of people to be able to say "I cause air to get blown towards you" a board game would at least be kinda fun, but I feel bad for the suckers who will buy permission to use their imagination.
@@kungflupenguin1067 if you actually read the kickstarter description, it clearly says tabletop. You should be disappointed in yourself for not being able to read.
I am sorry to hear that. I got out of that limbo ages ago. If they just like fantasy try getting a different system for a fantasy game and start with one player at a time introducing them to the mechanics. If you can hook them one at a time then you have them where you want them.
@@dangarthemighty0980 Maybe I will hook them with "The One Ring" rpg. I try to write a one shot about the last days of balins expedition for some time now. I've already tried call of cthulhu, blades in the dark, band of blades....
Hey man, at least you have a group. Out here in Nepal, none of my friends are into TTRPGs so all I can do is live vicariously through videos like these :(
@@dangarthemighty0980 Try them on Dungeon World! It’s like D&D, in terms of fantasy world questing, but using the same system as Avatar, namely Powered by the Apocalypse. Who knows where that could lead?!?
@@aegresen Try online play! It’s exploded during the pandemic - the people in this video are all from all over the world, brought together to game! I got my start playing Blades in the Dark with a great GM from Kazhkstan, with players in China, Germany, Australia, and Cambodia!
Earth bender can do this Lavabending I know in canon it’s a birth genetic thing of a fire bender and a earth bender Metalbending Sandbending Mudbending Glassbending Liquifying earth Pigmentbending Crystalbending In this game I will be happy
Lavabending is not a genetic thing of firebenders and earthbenders together. Mako and Bolin just happen to have mixed heritage. The origins, mindset, or spirituality of lavabending has not yet been covered in the show or comics, which is a shame
According to the FAQ the game is ideally made for a group of 3 to 5 players but it is possible to play it with a GM and a player. The GM will however have to provide good NPCs to help the player and adjust the difficulty of the opponents.
Hi! I really liked this playthrough Simon as GM is awesome! Does anybody know Where and how I can buy the game? Since the kickstarter campaign is already over and the pre-order buttons on the Magpie Games website aren't working... or... I wonder if you know if there's a way to buy the digital version of the game? I learned about Demiplane and Nexus but honestly I'm so confused hahaha
17:37 I was excited and interested in hearing you all play, …until you said, you would describe everything cinematically, like a television show. I understand your logic, and I’m happy if this works for you. For me, it makes me feel like the players are not their characters. Rather, the players are playing actors in a show; not their actual characters. It feels like a broken fourth wall to me.
"99 Years just after the last avatar existed" so 99 years after Roku "just before episode 1" actually its still 13 years till episode 1. The war didnt start till Aang was 12. i mean he said it himself in one of the first episodes "do i look like a 112 year old man ?"
So there's a Kickstarter for fantasy role playing. When I first heard about this I thought it would be an actual rpg game considering it doesn't take long to make a game that uses your imagination. You don't need anything for that actually a piece of paper and a dice would work plenty.
@@laurensdh Oh! I totally understand! Dude a full on Avatar video game would be amazing! I think that a Kora one released a few years back. Not sure if it was any good or not.

okay but RPGs are my favorite Dicebreaker content
Happy to see the game in action. I’m waiting for my next paycheck to back the Kickstarter and I’m excited to play my first ever Apocalypse RPG

YES YES YES! I was really hoping that you would play this.

Ooooo been debating backing this....
Flying bison or bust
Don’t debate it just do it
Their squad should be called Chaos Children xD
