I feel you man... I had 2 wishes and FUCKING 17 PITY, and waiting for Raiden, but I just wanted a Layla or something. AND AT THE FIRST WISH A GET A GOLD AND I DIDN'T REALIZED BECAUSE SKIPED IT AND A YAE MIKO APEARS ON MY SREEN. Never build pity because this could happen to you. (Edit) Also I forgot to add...I JUST GOT NAHIDA I WON A FUCKING 50/50.
Counterpoint: letting your resin cap is fine. Trust me, your life will not change if it’s capped. Worrying about it will probably just make you more stressed out.
fr best decision in my genshin life was to allow me to let my resin cap. The game feels much more chill and honestly i dont think im missing out on anythingd cause all my artefacts are trash anyway💀
Thanks I’ve been feeling like that but I’d rather use it to lvl characters and their talents mora exp books using it for artifacts made me feel depressed and burnt out no longer having fun or felt like my account is moving forward
The reason why people don't want to allow their resin to cap is because it's a finite resource which creates a feedback loop, if you don't use it, you don't get more and if you don't get more all your other resources that you need to fully beat the game, and build more characters that you play the game for, dwindle. Other than that, yes, I agree.
When the game launched, the cap wasn't 160. It was 120. I started logging in obsessively, checking my resin more or less around the clock, which established a very unhealthy relationship with the game. It's true there's 180 resin per day, and so you'll "lose" 1/9 of it if you let yourself cap, but for most people that's a small price to pay for a little bit of sanity.
I tried to simultaneously build pity and get Diona when she first came out since I needed that shield, and didnt care for childe since he was considered a whale's 5star. I failed to get diona, and got childe after 40 pulls (which is where I said I will stopnin advance to be "safe", and it was the ONLY time I ever got a 5star before hard pity. Needless to say Im still bitter about that. Fortunately HSR is being much much nicer to me. I already got 4 5stars (though one is himeko lol), and I got 2 of them after just 30-something pulls, and 2 at around 70. That and I won the 50/50 both times on event banner.
If I had a nickle for every time I "tried to build pity" and immediately got a 5 star in my first 10 roll, I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice (yes, this really happened. I got Diluc in 2 wishes on Kazuha's first banner and Mona in 7 wishes on Hu Tao's 2.3 rerun)
That's not really a loss tho if it's that low, also you even lost the 50-50 which is good cuz free guarantee for the next char. Building pity only really hurts if you accidentally waste a guarantee on 5* you don't want, or if you win 50-50 early but quite late (like >40-50 pity) on a 5* you don't want. I never consider it a loss if you lose your 50-50 while building pity.
happened to me three times, twice on hutao, i lost 5050 to jean at 76 then got hutao 3 later, qiqi 7 later and on miko it was first 10 pull when what i did want was sayu and fischl
Wasting fragiles definitely hits home. I spent way too many fragiles on the Unreconciled Stars event (thank the archons they changed it so we don't have to spend resin for event rewards) because I really wanted Fischl and was extremely impatient (and I was new so didn't really understand how stuff works)... And then right when the event ended, I pulled Fischl C1 on standard.
Glad I'm able to control myself. It's my first time ever saving primogems for a character and it feels liberating. Sitting at 15.5k and I'm so proud! Happy to say I got him and his weapon! I got C2 wanderer and C6 faruzan!
Most I ever saved was around 16k if i recall correctly and that was for raiden and kokomi on their release. I saved for kazuha rerun and had around 12-13k and havent reached that number since but now that I got yae I'm back to saving for shenhe or baizhu (whichever comes first). Looking forward to what the number will reach this time lol.
I think there's a difference between building pity and trying to snipe a four star. Building Pity happens because of wishing addiction, sniping a four star is just that, trying to get a four star, but it can still burn you just as much as building pity can.
I did risky pulls on Xiao's banner once, because I wanted a 4-stars, as I didn't have any of the 3 promoted ones at the time. I was intending to stop when I reach soft pity, but then I "won" 50/50 at exactly 70 pity, 9 pulls in, before getting even a single 4-star. i learned my lesson.
@@WannaComment2 Oh I wished on Xiao's banner wanting Yanfei, I C6ed my Noelle and Barbara, AND got Xiao at 40 pity, but no Yanfei constellation. Thankfully she's C6 now though
Building pity is not something you should plan to do but it may be something you realize you have done afterwards. But that doesn't mean you cannot pull on banners of 5-stars you don't plan to get, just make sure you're ok with every potential outcome. I was pulling on Miko's banner for Layla and I successfully got Layla and no 5-star. But if I got Miko I'd be happy because I don't have her, and if I lost 50:50 I'd be happy because I'd have next 5-star guaranteed after early 5-star. And if I got nothing after 30 pulls I allocated to it, I'd have built my pity. That's a win-win-win-win scenario.
I totally agree! I believe building pity is a bad thing, but if you're okay with the worst possible outcome, then you should do it. On my alt on which I have Yae and Yoimiya, and I'm saving for Raiden, I pulled a tiny bit on every banner this patch : Yoimiya, Yae and their weapons. I was extremely lucky that I got only the 4 stars that I wanted, Rust, Stringless and Heizou. But in the end I was a little disappointed that I didn't get punished for doing it because I wouldn't have minded any of the 5 stars... Especially C1 Yae... I guess it always happens this way when you're in a win-win scenario (:
Wanted yoimiya and didn't get her because I lost to keqing, which also works out because I main keqing, but kept wishing for yomiya and still didn't get her but it help build to getting childe
I am kinda in a cursed situation. The characters i needed are ayaka and kokomi. But the reason I am wishing is that I want to lose a 50/50 so that then I can build up my primogems. Problem is that I am now in a 3 50/50 win streak. Got yae miko, Raiden and now Alhaitham. Miko and Alhaitham are just sitting doing nothing while I replaced fishcl with raiden. I am doing it not for build pity but for me to lose a 50/50 so that I can guarantee my next 5 star is the one I want. Also WHERE IS AYAKA'S RERUN???
@@foxfm1987ult My suggestion is, stop trying to lose 50:50 and instead save your primogems for that. Meaning collect some 28k primogems, that way you could pull for the character you want and if you lose 50:50 on it, you will still have enough to keep going and get it as guarantee. And if you win the 50:50, then you'll be left with primogems you can use to start building another such pile for next character you'll want.
@@kasuha But thats the thing. In the kokomi rerun I tried so hard to get her, only to get mona(whom I hate). Then I got nahida and has been in this streak. My next only target is ayaka and thats the issue, nobody knows if she will get a rerun or not. And unless its a 5 star I don't need, if any new characters gets my attention, it i have a guarenteed chance I can get them. As soon as i lose another 50/50, I will stop wishing completely until ayaka comes in
It's true, that is more or less regular wishing. Building pity refers to rolling for wanted 4 stars on a banner where you absolutely do not want the 5 star but you're working towards soft/hard pity for the next banner with the 5 star you actually want.
The beginning got me. I literally got Yae Miko yesterday. I was at 32 pity, guaranteed a banner 4 star, no 5 star guarantee. I did singles, to stop at the first sign of a four star. I got Yae Miko at 37 pulls. Oh, and the four star I got right after, pulling singles out of frustration because "well now I have her, it can't get worse"? Thoma. Glad to see I'm not the only one. I never pulled on a banner whose 5 star I didn't want before. And now, I never will again. Lesson learned. Thanks for being a relatable UA-camr with great content that can distract me as my handguards slowly close in on zero.
Well tbf u had no 5 star guarantee and were only at 32 pity and yae’s c1 is actually rly good, this banner I got her from c0 to c2 and got her weapon and it’s doing wonders for me g
I was building pity on tighnari's banner and ended up getting him, but then later got his c1 from the low pity on the standard banner and now he's one of my best units
i got tighnari from his banner, a c1 from standard, and lost 5050 to him on cyno banner, setting me up for a guaranteed nahida. id say thats a complete win!
I'm usually not able to spend more than 1 month saving rolls in a Gacha, but as genshin has a guaranteed Pity that doesn't reset between Banners, I feel more comfortable saving because I know that saving enough I'm guaranteed to get something
I built pity when I was trying to get constellations for Xingqiu on Eula’s first banner. I was at 20 or so pity, got my last five stars super early and just got Zhongli, so I thought there was no way in hell that I’d get Eula. At the time I also wanted Klee and read leaks that she’d get a rerun. I ended up getting Eula at 28 pity. It worked out though since I would’ve gotten Klee as the alternative which now I know is the worst thing ever, so I failed successfully. And got a copy of Xingqiu after I got Eula so even bigger bonus.
I “built pity” once, 1.4 windblume festival, wanted Childe but got Venti instead this is an insanely amazing loss imo because I’m a lot happier with Venti than I would’ve been with Childe but thankfully that helped me learn 😭😭 now I only ever save, don’t let the gacha addiction screw you over
Back on Kokomi's Rerun, I tried to get Dori so i somewhat tried to build pity and hoped to lose 50/50 but ended up getting Kokomi early but i didn't regret it cause she's a good Hydro applicator and a walking statue of the seven. I got Dori in the end at 55th pull :v Btw Kokomi was my 2nd character that i won 50/50, Eula was my 1st on her release :v
I never do "building pity" unless I don't mind getting the character, just like what I did with the current banner where I got Yae. I never regret it since I know that she would work pretty good with Nahida
I once built pity on Yoi's banner. At the time, I've lost 50/50 to Batman, and I thought, yeah I'm gonna save this for 3.0. Did like 7 pulls, and she came home. It was bitter sweet, I knew I won't get a Zhongli at that time, but at the same time I've always wanted Yoi too. She ended up being my main DPS ever since. It's a good thing it was Yoi. I can't imagine if it would be like a Klee or Xiao. Ever since that day, I learned my lesson, and I never build pity ever again in my whole life.
Building pity isn't an issue. The issue is doing it while you have a guarantee. 50-50 will still be 50-50. Just because you won accidentally in a banner of a character you didn't want it doesn't mean you would've won that same roll in the banner of the character you did want. That said, if you want to guarantee a character you REALLY want, then save for 180 pulls for them.
Ironically the only time I have “built pity” on a banner was on the original Raiden Shogun banner because I wanted Sucrose and Xiangling constellations. I didn’t have any interest in the Raiden Shogun but I ended up getting her early in pity. It was the best mistake that I have ever made in Genshin.
I had no idea how the artifact strong box worked, but now that I do I shall save all my bad 5*s for it. I wasn't expecting to learn something genuinly new in this video since I'm a day 1 player, glad to be surprised.
I only roll for 4* when I am not on a guarantee for a 5* and less than 20 pulls into pity. This way I don't lose too much pity when I actually get a 5*. I really appreciate the Donkey Kong Country music 🙌🏻
For a lot of these things, it's only a mistake if you care about optimisation/min maxing. I personally 90 and triple crown all of my favourite characters, even ones that don't need 90 like shenhe and don't need talent levels like kazuha. As long as you're having fun and you know what you're doing, it ain't a mistake. At worst, it's inefficient.
same here, i also dont prioritize artifact grinding because i dont find it fun. My characters have half decent artifacts and they work just fine for exploration and domains (not focusing on abyss rn cause people pressured me to build meta so i lost my enthusiasm for it) Realizing that i didnt need to play the game with optimization in mind made the game a lot more fun for me
The first time I "built pity" I ended up with a Ganyu. She became my main and got my my first 36* on abyss. I've never regretted building pity ever since, and it's lead to some awesome happy accidents like a very early Shenhe and a C1 for characters I like. I pretty much have all the characters I want as a welkin only player at this point, so "ruining" pity is more like a happy accident
maybe its just me but i appreciate the early 5 stars no matter what they are even if i get a qiqi that just means my next 5 star is 100% so instead of needing 160 total pulls now i need 80-90 which as an F2P is really good really saves up a lot of gems also since we have double banners most of the time one of the 5 stars will have good constellations that'd be nice to have like yae's C1 as seen in this video
The funny thing is that the perception toward characters is as skewed as the perception about what is a good (not great) artifact, in the community. Building Qiqi isn't a mistake as long as it doesn't prevent you from reaching your goals in Genshin. If you aim at clearing the Abyss and have build characters that can reliably do so, then you cannot make a mistake by building another character, by definition.
Mistake 1.. getting stressed over a Game. 2 over spending ( u should be getting useful stuff in life) 3 over thinking instead of having fun playing a game
For me, accidentally getting a 5-star character (standard or otherwise) within the first 20 pulls is really good. It's a chance to get the 4* characters/constellations that you want. Overall it's still a lot of value. Pulling beyond 20 is just slowly making yourself into a joke with the excuse of "building pity".
The concept of "building pity" is kinda funny, considering that you have a better chance of getting what u want if u just wait for the banner to come out. Just build pity on the literal banner u want to wish for since u don't save time/resource by doing it sooner and you have a higher chance of wasting your primos in you don't wait >.>
This is all wonderful advice. Especially the artifact stuff. You can definitely heighten your standards to ridiculous crit roles and such... after you have decent pieces already. And sometimes pieces that look bad end up rolling crit 4 times... If I had to add one thing to this- it's for players to account for five star artifacts with four substats at level 0. It might only have one good substat- but again it has an extra roll because it started at four which increases your chances of it being the substat you want. That sort of piece deserves more recognition than some people give them.
When Dori first came out, I did about 50 pulls on the Ganyu banner, hoping Dori would come home, but I stopped because Ganyu came home early. I wasn't going for Ganyu, but I was happy to get her at least. But then, shortly after the banner ended, I got Dori on a random standard banner pull! And now she's free from the current event!
@@SekayKFP of course, me too and I build her with some random HP artifacts just for some electro application & resonance. The heal is an added bonus as well.
I always just do a 10 pull on every banner in case I get lucky or just to get something. Honestly I’ll take whatever I get including the standard characters or weapons
I did this on the Shenhe banner. I just wanted a Yunjin because I thought she was cute, got Shenhe on the 2nd 10 pull...I don't regret having her, I just wish she wasn't so niche.
When you got to the strongbox section I was deathly afraid because after AR45, I throw ANY and ALL artifacts into it except the 20 for my main team(which i occasionally replace with better ones if i see substats with potential). then, relief.
BUILDING PITY IS A DELUSION! No matter what pity you're in, it's basically the wishes you spent. When you're in pity 74, it means you've used 74 wishes MEANING you should've had 74 wishes on the banner you REALLY want and possibly got early 5* or even cons if you keep saving from there
Reading the comments, and i was like hey these people are lucky. I always get my 5* on the 80th pull. So i think building pity is not that bad. If you leave it to your luck, then you better prepare yourself for the unexpected. It's always good to have a plan, at least you've prepared yourself to whatever might happen. If you get them at an early pity that's great, if not then it's still according to plan.
Building pity was actually not a bad strategy at all during the 1.x times, when you had banners with Sucrose+Xiangling+XQ. Every ten pull was basically a winner and they were arguably more valuable in the long run than the 5 five stars that were on it. Now, the banners are so polluted with garbage (Thoma, Sayu, Heizou, Dori, Sara, Collei, Layla...and the list will only get longer) that it is barely worth the risk at all.
sara isnt even bad if you own a shogun or literally use any electro dps layla isn't even bad shes a shielder and just bc she doesn't do 500k per tick doesn't mean shes not a great cryo applicator and shielder. heizou is fine he's not niche and he hits pretty hard if that's what you're worried about.. using the same 4 stars in a game full of so many characters is gonna gett boring as fuck
Sara has her niche if you get her to c6, and now burgeon thoma also works well as a niche although his cons doesn't do much. Sayu is super valuable for the first copy since she's god-tier for exploration but her cons are useless. As for the rest though, yeah. Heizou/Dori/Collei/Layla/Candace/etc just aren't too useful. You can make use of them if you like them, but meta-wise they don't offer anything unique and there are chars better than them for the same role. Personally I'd rather have a banner with all 4* that I already have c6 on, so I get more starglitter refunds. Much better than getting cons on 4* I will never build and use.
Building pity has yet to hurt me because I'm not "lucky" enough to get early 5 stars too often. It also doesn't hurt that I only pull on banners if I want the character, so I guess I just stopped pulling for pity
I usually give new 4-stars a single 10 pull especially if the 5 star character is someone I don't necessarily want. I didn't learn my lesson after going for Xingqui cons and accidentally getting Ganyu which made me unable to get xiao (ended up being a good mistake!) but I did learn after getting Zhongli C1 when going for Yanfei (didn't even get her!!!)
Man, this game really can stress you out if you just wanna be efficient. Now a days, i just play the overworld, and sometimes, i just turn my resin into weapon crystals when i feel like i don't wanna do domains. I've been enjoying the game since then
If you're just starting out, its actually best to focus building one or two high dps units to the max instead of building supports. It allows you to have them carry your team through the early ARs where resources are scarce. Once they get to the endgame, then building supports become the main priority because the game is called SUPPORT IMPACT for a reason lol
At a low AR the best you can do is give as much ER as you can to your Xiangling, slap an Instructor set and the Fav Bow on your Amber or use a Bennet (with Instructor too) if you have one, take your Barbara or any other hydro you may have (except maybe Candace) and everything will die peacefully... I don't think main DPS is a very good term for low AR players... I mean, who is a main or at least an on-field DPS in the starters? C0 Noelle?
@@browniesansnoix xiangling is the main DPS in the starters since she does the most dmg. Unless you're talking about pre AR20, then yea, Noelle and especially Kaeya are generally good enough to carry the player through that period since I believe they only made the abyss into two halves after like chamber 5 or sth so you only really need one team. I also remember Anemo traveler slapping a lot for me early on so yea, before XL its generally not a that bad Plus, new players generally would've wished for a five star at the start, and most of them can carry the team quite well (unless its Qiqi or sth)
I remember people telling me I was the one making a huge mistake using the strong box, but it really proves its worth, even when we did have limited sets
I was pulling for Razor, Rosaria and Sayu constellation during Ayaka's eternal banner, I was at zero pity and had two 10-pulls to spare. I got two Razors and a Rosaria on my first 10-pull so I was like "Oh! Can I get a Sayu?" so I did 10 singles and on my 7th one it glowed gold and I wanted to lose 50/50 or something but there she was...Ayato's flop sister staring back at me. Up to this day she's still Level 20!
This is what happened to me during Thoma release on Hu Tao rerun banner. Around 40 pity count and guaranteed, I was like "Well I never get early anyway, a ten pull won't hurt right? :D" Then I see gold and I swore at myself to never become a slave to my own desire again.
@@dhruvagarwal7854 Would be nice if that's the case... the thing is: 1) It's C0 (I wasn't planning to pull Hu Tao, I wanted Thoma) 2) I was saving my guaranteed for Albedo 3) I don't like Hu Tao's playstyle So yeah that was a big slap on my face. 💀
@@TheReaIestOne Yeah izzoke, I realize my wording was kinda ambiguous at my post anyway. 😂 At the very least I now learned to not pity-building + I actually have Albedo now so I let bygones be bygones, but it's still a silly thing to remember.
Ok so about building pity: i set a rule for myself, if i REALLY want one or two of the 4* on the banner, but i don’t want a 5*, i just do 1 ten pull (only if i am below 20 pity already and don’t have 100%). That way you can possibly get a 4* that you want and don’t get a 5*. And even if you get it, you did only 1 ten pull, it’s a win/win situation actually. If i don’t get what i want in that 10 pull, i just stop and wait for the 5* that i actually want. I got Heizou today, 0 pity, 1 ten pull and he is finally home, i also want Layla, but i would rather wait for her rerun.
A lot of these mistakes remind me of the early days. I remember my friends telling me not to use my fragile resin, but I barely listened. I wanted my characters to be strong as fast as possible, no matter if I couldn't get 5-star artifacts. I didn't get the difference between 4 star and 5 star so I thought "But it's a bonus regardless" - which was so stupid. I mean, my friend and I did have an easier time in the overworld and we always remember that, but when I got to AR45 and was farming for Kazuha's release I really could've needed those :/ I also did the pity thing as a new player and instantly learned my lesson as I got Klee early pity while I was saving for Kazuha. I remember going "Just three wishes" because I hadn't wished on a limited banner since I started the game. I could've gotten Kazuha early :') I was completely f2p back then with no wekin or BP and remember grinding crazily. I did every single thing you could do in Mond and Liyue. It was madness and I was still on 50/50, which was even worse. I was lucky I had barely done much side quests AND won 50/50 or I would've had waited a freakin year - which is also something I think many people don't consider. If you're lucky your fave is back in a few months, but with the pool growing bigger and bigger reruns recently easily take up to a year or even longer for some. Don't risk it. Right afterwards I learned not to wish any longer if I ain't okay with the 5-star. I didn't want Cyno so I sadly still have no Candace. As a Childe main I wanted cons but got Nahida and am saving for another character. I would be happy to still get his con, but now my pity is so high that I'm probs giving up on Layla and Faruzan on Scara's banner too. It's just not worth it T T I have lost all my 50/50s since freaking 9 months so I thought to myself "I'll lose 50/50 AND get the 4-stars and everything goes according to plan" but then right when you think that your curse is suddenly lifted. :') I DID lose and wouldn't have gotten Cyno, but who could know
great video! just wanted to say you make some great points, and I really appreciate your videos as they’re great fun for me to watch as someone who is experienced (even tho I may know what you’re saying, it’s still fun to watch) and they’re great for me to send to friends who are just getting started! you’re awesome!
I started with 3.0 and I'm still "building pity" because I have a really bad luck with wishes. I literally can't imagine the system working other way than let me lose 50/50 and wait at least for a total of 150 wishes to get the 5 star. btw, nice vid!
Buillding pity is a good thing if you know what you are doing. Its sad people telling the basic dont summon on weapon banner or dont build Pity. Its good and worth if your smart about it.
It's just so painful having to keep on wishing through a lost 50/50 to the next pity for a character you really want, when you've got all the 4-stars on the banner to C6. Every 5 glitter feels like a slap in the face, "here, you've wasted 10 wishes, so we'll give you one of the next 10 you'll be wasting for free". The pitiful number of characters we get in the store for glitter means they're usually the exact same ones on the banner that was giving us the glitter in the first place, and even when they're not, the limit to one per month means it could take 3 WHOLE YEARS to get a character we never have the luck to get on banners to C6. The only reason I'm not way more salty about this, is because my lost 50/50 wishing for Yelan was Jean, instead of yet another constellation for the 3 5-stars from 50/50s I already have, of whom Mona is the only one I use.
I only "build pity" when 1. I dont mind the 5 star 2. I already have c6 of at least 2 of the 4stars. 3. No nearby/upcoming 5stars that i really want. The second one seems kinda counterintuitive, but hear me out. Getting copies of 4stars i already maxed out is basically a free 1 pull closer to pity. I build pity, to literally just build pity, not to get a new 4star. Ive never regretted this, cause somehow i never got the 5star early on, idk if thats lucky or unlucky. But if i do get the 5star, i wouldnt really feel bad about it, cause i wasnt saving for anyone at that moment anyway
Building pity ironically gave me Kazuha on his first banner (Although I didn't really know how pity worked, I just wanted Bennett and I didn't get him). Then on his rerun I tried to get at least c0 Heizou... I got 2 Kazuha and 1 Jean, both in very early pity (Like 20-30 pulls at most) but yeah, no Heizou.
My biggest mistake/regret was listening to the community. Everyone was hyping up Yae Miko, telling me she was going to be godly. I, as quite a new player at the time, spent all my primos on her and ended up being completely disappointed to the point where now I benched her and use Kuki instead.
Most people don't know this but the artifact strong box actually provides better artifacts than those farmed in domains because they are 1.7x more likely to start as a 4-liner.
when i "build pity" its my way of saying, i dont necessarilly want the character but i sure as hell wont complain if i win the 50/50 or get an early 5* of any kind lol
I was a solo player until about AR 55 when some friends finally picked it up. I saved all my fragile resin for the eventual day when I have friends that want to grind something and I would always have resin to spend when they're on. Now that they are also AR 50+ I don't regret it.
I wish the parametric transformer would just reset on monday like everything else. Its 1 week cooldown means it'll keep getting pushed back to later hours or days every week and it's annoying to keep track of when to use it.
im playing for 3 months and i made a mistake by spending all my fragile resin to artifacts while my characters are unbuilt but you are right mistakes hinders your progress
I wanted Fischl and Diona cons on Tighnari banner. I ended up with a Diluc and 2 Tighnari in 60 pulls. It ended up okay for me but it certainly was n part of the plan.
Ive done all of it at some point and still do some of it, throughout all my experience since launch, i am very comfortable enough to waste resin by capping it even after a few days because in the end of the day, i can only ever flex my characters on the character display and my non-existent friends on genshin so non of it even matters.
as for saving primos... or as i call em, primogerms, the hardest part for me is saving from 1-19. idk why, but as soon as the wish count goes above 20, i'm able to not spend a single wish until the banner is out. saving for scara rn, 63 wishes if im not mistaken, 15 pity and a 50/50 to win. plz plz plz wish me luck, my life is trash and scara is the only thing im looking forward to. 10 days left.
haha, I can relate to this; lost the 50/50 on Miko banner by "building pity", later drop one more multi and got yae. Don't complaining, pretty cool character
Honestly the Strogbox point is very debatable. Some ppl just like me really need the artifact xp more than anthing else, I don't care if an artifact could have turned out good in the strongbox because I won't have enough artifact xp to upgrade it anyways so it doesn't really matter, this is different from account to account but in my account I try to get everyone to hold +20 artifacts, I don't have time to do artifact xp routes (when I do them it is because something is at +19) and artifact xp to fully max out my gear is just so much more valuable. When 2.7 ended I had all my built characters with artifacts so I started stockpiling for the strongbox but later Dendro came out and I ran out of fodder to build all my new characters + old characters that I didn't build but wanted to try out with Dendro. For people who aren't like this and feel like they don't need the xp, sure use the strongbox, but in my case I literally never have enough to consider throwing at it, farming Crimson Withch during the eternal Ayaka actually helped me a lot because I only got 1 set of the domain that I cared about and I could spend the rest on getting +20 for all my supports
1. Building pity has always worked for me, except on Cyno where I got a character I didn't necessarily want, but didn't have, so meh. 2. Don't spend resin on artifact domains before AR45. At all. Just use what's in your bags. 3. I throw away anything that has two "bad" stats, regardless of if it has theoretically amazing potential because the chance of getting even 3/5 upgrades on things you want is sadly pretty pathetic. But I wouldn't do that if I were on a new account, no. 4. No argument. 5. When first going up the AR treadmill, pick a team of four. If you singularly focus your resin on them, you *should* be able to keep up with all four, their weapons, and their talents thru AR45. But you absolutely 100% have to focus on them to make that work, and if you're grinding out story content, you might have to settle for less. Lightning round: Meh, parametric transformer. Worrying about that is like worrying about doing ore and 1-star artifact farming daily, except worse.
I never had much of a problem with building pity. But there was one time I was waiting for Kokomi's rerun, right after Yae Miko's banner. Around 10 minutes before miko's banner ended I decided to check how much time is left before it changes. I opened, blah-blah and when I was about to close the wish menu, I somehow missclicked on the wish 10 banner and got Yae... 20 pity...
Building pity is the only lie that keeps me hoping that I one day c6 any of my 5 stars with their signature weapon and have my op power fantasy realised
I'm saving for Wanderer. At around 65-70 pity, guaranteed. I currently have 3 pulls worth of primogems, + the 5 extra fates from Paimon's shop. Add in the primogems from maintenance and stuff, I hope I get him.
This reminds me of when I did indeed risk building pity (it paid off but i still count it as a mistake): Intentionally lost 50/50 on Kokomi debut in 2.1 to set up a guarantee for Ganyu rerun in 2.4
I only 'build pity' on characters I kinda want. If I don't get them at least I have pity, if I do get them then that's also a win. The main difference is that I'm mainly in it for a four star, whereas if I really want a five star I'll go all in despite the four stars
Biggest mistake is wishing for a new 4 star on a banner when you're on a guaranteed pity, close to 76, and you don't want the featured 5 star. That's pretty much shooting yourself in the foot if you get gold and there goes your pity for the next 5 star that you want. These 4 stars aren't going anywhere, they'll be featured eventually. (the new 4 stars they've released aren't that good, either xd)
Rules for artifact farming and leveling Learn what "bad" and "good" substats are for each character. This is the MOST IMPORTANT THING for artifact farming. Def scaling characters want otherwise worthless Def artifacts. Standard dps characters want atk% crit rate and crit damage. If the character does reactions as their main source of damage (specifically it is the reaction damage proc itself when their damage comes from) they want EM. If they're a burst support or most healers, you want fairly high ER. If an artifact has only 1 good stat, too risky. Fodder it or give to strongbox. If it has 2 good substats, your call, it's 50/50, level it to 4 and see if the 4th substat is good. If it has 3 good substats, level it. Even with a bad 4th stat roll, you've got a high chance of the other 3 good ones getting boosted each 4 levels. That's really it. You MUST learn what is a "good stat" for every scenario. Then level intelligently.
On building pity, after being "screwed over" by an early 50/50 beating Kazuha and Kokomi that I did not want at the time while wanting the Shogun and Itto right after (and luckily having just enough free/welkin primos to get what I truly wanted) my new rule is: only "build pity" if I absolutely want the 4 stars, wouldn't mind the 5 star/am curious about them AND either have enough primos to guarantee the next 5 star I want or don't really want any known upcoming 5 star That's how I got my 35th pull 50/50 defeating Wanderer who....is actually pretty fun as it turns out, even though I don't super want him still
i mean i 'build pitty' on nearly every banner that has a new 4* since i like having all the 4* characters- but to be honest especially now that there are always 2 banners i usually wouldnt mind getting atleast 1 of them. but thats easy to say for someone who has been playing for over 2 years by now and basically has all the charcters they need to clear content. anyway nice video, i appreciate you disclosing on the whole dont spend your resin on artifacts till youre ar45 bc a lot of people seem i know that got into genshin later on got a bit stressed out over that :)
Building pity has never been a problem for me as I've only one 50/50 and I've been playing since day 1. I've been able to go for every 4 stars that I want without worrying about getting a 5 star that i dont want. I guess only getting 5stars at 75+ pulls and always losing 50/50s has its own upsides , NO cope?
I will never forgive Yae Miko for this.
She pranked you.😂
*Evil laugh*
*Smug Yae intensifies*
I feel you man... I had 2 wishes and FUCKING 17 PITY, and waiting for Raiden, but I just wanted a Layla or something. AND AT THE FIRST WISH A GET A GOLD AND I DIDN'T REALIZED BECAUSE SKIPED IT AND A YAE MIKO APEARS ON MY SREEN. Never build pity because this could happen to you.
(Edit) Also I forgot to add...I JUST GOT NAHIDA I WON A FUCKING 50/50.
Thats what i thought about Kokomi when I got her while wishing for Xingqiu on her first banner. But after using her, I dont regret it
You can give her C1 to me cuz I want C1 also
Counterpoint: letting your resin cap is fine.
I stopped worrying about cap long time ago., now I can play other games worry free.
Everytime I "tried to build pity", I always go in with the thought: "I'd consider getting ANY 5* at 20 pity a win so go ahead game."
Same.
Qiqi c1 reaction:
Building pity is a way to deceive yourself to gamble more
If I had a nickle for every time I "tried to build pity" and immediately got a 5 star in my first 10 roll, I'd have two nickles. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
(yes, this really happened.
@@luckyjc8702 i also dont call it a loss if u win the 50 on like 20 pulls. only if u waste ur guarantee or get something u dont want at 50+ pulls
happened to me three times, twice on hutao, i lost 5050 to jean at 76 then got hutao 3 later, qiqi 7 later and on miko it was first 10 pull when what i did want was sayu and fischl
Wow can't imagine
Well at least it got you a guarantee.
OH MY GOD
i forgot how spending resin on timed events was a thing, that's scary.
nostalgia bro. even forgot myself I did that same thing
This hits so much for me. I lost so much resin because of that darn event. Same with primo gems
oh my god i fell this in spiritual level. I wish i knew better at that time. So much fragile resins wasted :(
That's also my biggest mistake ever in Genshin.
I had 17k primos and i got bored so i threw them all at childe, ig it worked out cos i 36 starred the hardest abyss for the first time
I had 40k in pulls because there was a huge downtime on character I wanted and I got really lucky with Nilou (got her in 3 pulls)
Saving for Scara, and I’ve never saved like this before lol, I have 12.3k primos
I'm on 22K
I think there's a difference between building pity and trying to snipe a four star. Building Pity happens because of wishing addiction, sniping a four star is just that, trying to get a four star, but it can still burn you just as much as building pity can.
I got fucked up twice whit this 1 time whit yae miko on the 3.2 banner (wanted layla) and now whit alhaitam i wanted yaoyao
This doesn't apply to me I'm on fuckin 76 pity on 50-50
I need kazuha but iam sure I'm gonna get qiqi
Mika's rumoured to be on the next banner and I'm going to C6 him if it kills me, so, wish me luck because i'm definitely going to regret this!

As soon as i lose another 50/50, I will stop wishing completely until ayaka comes in
I build pity because I like too many characters and wouldn't mind getting most of them, which was how I got Kazuha. I don't regret anything.
Wow I thought im the only one in the world thinking that
That just sounds like regular wishing. I mean if you don't mind getting most characters is it really building pity?
@@assassin101c Yes it is, lemme have my copium because I didn't have enough to get the 5* okay!?
I love collecting characters, it's a hobby now 🫡
It's true, that is more or less regular wishing.
I don't pull to build pity. I pull because I like it when the shooting star changes colors. It makes my heart jump.
@@adrin181 The gacha gods really wanted you to main tighnari lol
tighnari is so goooood
Yup i built pity too and a friend on the internet scolded me way too much 💀💀 so i stopped building pity all together :DD
I “built pity” once, 1.4 windblume festival, wanted Childe but got Venti instead
this is an insanely amazing loss imo because I’m a lot happier with Venti than I would’ve been with Childe but thankfully that helped me learn 😭😭 now I only ever save, don’t let the gacha addiction screw you over
I got Yae Miko at 0 pity in a *single* pull. I didn't want her but now I really love her.
I would have also been happy to have gotten her but sadly already had her and her C1, while good, is not the most exciting con around.
i did the same, but got mona instead.
never used her.
Back on Kokomi's Rerun, I tried to get Dori so i somewhat tried to build pity and hoped to lose 50/50 but ended up getting Kokomi early but i didn't regret it cause she's a good Hydro applicator and a walking statue of the seven.
I got Dori in the end at 55th pull :v
Btw Kokomi was my 2nd character that i won 50/50, Eula was my 1st on her release :v
@@123leyang321 building pity is an issue no matter what
Ironically the only time I have “built pity” on a banner was on the original Raiden Shogun banner because I wanted Sucrose and Xiangling constellations.
My only case of building pity ended up as a win
Aka building pity for Kokomi while getting Sara and ended up with C2 Raiden
Personally, when maxing out a character, I just do it in whatever order I feel like to minimize burnout. I know I'll get there eventually...
maybe its just me but i appreciate the early 5 stars no matter what they are
even if i get a qiqi that just means my next 5 star is 100% so instead of needing 160 total pulls now i need 80-90 which as an F2P is really good really saves up a lot of gems
also since we have double banners most of the time one of the 5 stars will have good constellations that'd be nice to have like yae's C1 as seen in this video
That Fire Emblem GBA kill sound effect gets me every time
The "building qiqi" one hit me hard lmao
My qiqi who is lvl 90 and with 10 10 9 talents be like:
The funny thing is that the perception toward characters is as skewed as the perception about what is a good (not great) artifact, in the community. Building Qiqi isn't a mistake as long as it doesn't prevent you from reaching your goals in Genshin. If you aim at clearing the Abyss and have build characters that can reliably do so, then you cannot make a mistake by building another character, by definition.
You are one crown away from becoming a legend, king
Mistake 1.. getting stressed over a Game.
Just build pity on the literal banner u want to wish for since u don't save time/resource by doing it sooner and you have a higher chance of wasting your primos in you don't wait >.>
i love artifact strongbox and wanderers/gladiators theyre so handy to give spare pieces to characters
Plus I heard she sucks anyway. I mean it's a fun character but het scalings aren't good unfortunately 😅

When you're in pity 74, it means you've used 74 wishes MEANING you should've had 74 wishes on the banner you REALLY want and possibly got early 5* or even cons if you keep saving from there
Exactly, there is no such thing as building pity, you're just rolling on the current banner and that's it.
This… got Nahida at 77 and 85 respectively. My earliest pity pull yet was Qiqi at 39.
Heizou? Garbage?
heizou isn't garbage my dude
sara isnt even bad if you own a shogun or literally use any electro dps layla isn't even bad shes a shielder and just bc she doesn't do 500k per tick doesn't mean shes not a great cryo applicator and shielder. heizou is fine he's not niche and he hits pretty hard if that's what you're worried about.. using the same 4 stars in a game full of so many characters is gonna gett boring as fuck
None of em ain’t bad tho
(I don’t know a thoma since I don’t use him or see him in co op)
I also remember Anemo traveler slapping a lot for me early on so yea, before XL its generally not a that bad
Plus, new players generally would've wished for a five star at the start, and most of them can carry the team quite well (unless its Qiqi or sth)
Up to this day she's still Level 20!
ayato's flop sister is one of the best main dps in the entire game 💀 but i understand not wanting her haha
@@BlueStylus Her numbers are the only thing carrying her I fear
For me on ayakas eternal banner all I wanted was c6 razor… I walked out with c2 ayaka… all low pity 50/50 wins with no money spent…
She hits like a truck if you build her correctly tho.
@@kaboomzzz She looks she got hit by a truck
This channel is way too underrated!!! UA-cam what are you doing?!
This is what happened to me during Thoma release on Hu Tao rerun banner.
Around 40 pity count and guaranteed, I was like "Well I never get early anyway, a ten pull won't hurt right? :D"
Then I see gold and I swore at myself to never become a slave to my own desire again.
Hutao c1 is buggest w in my book
@@dhruvagarwal7854 Would be nice if that's the case... the thing is:
1) It's C0 (I wasn't planning to pull Hu Tao, I wanted Thoma)
2) I was saving my guaranteed for Albedo
3) I don't like Hu Tao's playstyle
So yeah that was a big slap on my face. 💀
Hu Tao has the best C1 in game besides Bennett.
She's the only 5 star character that I want a c1 of.
Edit: just read your comment above 😂
@@TheReaIestOne Yeah izzoke, I realize my wording was kinda ambiguous at my post anyway. 😂
At the very least I now learned to not pity-building + I actually have Albedo now so I let bygones be bygones, but it's still a silly thing to remember.
I love the chocobo racing background music at the last minute of the video❤️
I don't have a gambling addiction, I'm just building pity!
Keep going,
You're almost there
imo, a good artifact depends on the character. not all toons needs crit stats or atk. some are perfectly fine with both hp or both def.
The one thing i did not know when i started the game is the existence of artifact strong box i am so mad at myself for it
Ok so about building pity: i set a rule for myself, if i REALLY want one or two of the 4* on the banner, but i don’t want a 5*, i just do 1 ten pull (only if i am below 20 pity already and don’t have 100%).
I mean, my friend and I did have an easier time in the overworld and we always remember that, but when I got to AR45 and was farming for Kazuha's release I really could've needed those :/
I also did the pity thing as a new player and instantly learned my lesson as I got Klee early pity while I was saving for Kazuha.
This was so fun to watch especially in the end
I started with 3.0 and I'm still "building pity" because I have a really bad luck with wishes. I literally can't imagine the system working other way than let me lose 50/50 and wait at least for a total of 150 wishes to get the 5 star.
btw, nice vid!
Wolf’s Gravestone ain’t never coming back so I’ve just given up and just started praying I lose
Not me actively planning to build pity next patch and this video drops and attacks me 🥲🥲
Buillding pity is a good thing if you know what you are doing.
I only "build pity" when
1. I dont mind the 5 star
The crimson witch artfifact rolls were insane
Building pity ironically gave me Kazuha on his first banner (Although I didn't really know how pity worked, I just wanted Bennett and I didn't get him). Then on his rerun I tried to get at least c0 Heizou... I got 2 Kazuha and 1 Jean, both in very early pity (Like 20-30 pulls at most) but yeah, no Heizou.
Building pity is an excuse to get some dopamine from gambling on pulls.
9:18 ot Xiao honestly, dude just shouts and pants to the beat of Vietnam flashbacks
5:55 that was such a good artifact. I'm jealous dude
when i "build pity" its my way of saying, i dont necessarilly want the character but i sure as hell wont complain if i win the 50/50 or get an early 5* of any kind lol
I was a solo player until about AR 55 when some friends finally picked it up. I saved all my fragile resin for the eventual day when I have friends that want to grind something and I would always have resin to spend when they're on. Now that they are also AR 50+ I don't regret it.
I'm gonna use "i'm gonna build pity for next banner" strategy in hope of getting the current one.💀
I wish the parametric transformer would just reset on monday like everything else. Its 1 week cooldown means it'll keep getting pushed back to later hours or days every week and it's annoying to keep track of when to use it.
That's me on tighnari's banner while looking for collei
And it hurts so so so so much, cost me my nilou
im playing for 3 months and i made a mistake by spending all my fragile resin to artifacts while my characters are unbuilt but you are right mistakes hinders your progress
I wanted Fischl and Diona cons on Tighnari banner. I ended up with a Diluc and 2 Tighnari in 60 pulls.
It ended up okay for me but it certainly was n part of the plan.
as someone who made this EXACT mistake on Mikos on first banner when wanting fischl, i feel your pain
Nice choice of music on lightning round.
haha, I can relate to this; lost the 50/50 on Miko banner by "building pity", later drop one more multi and got yae.
I got Yae Miko while ‘building pity’ as well when I was going for kirara. She is now my main. Happy accident :)
This reminds me of when I did indeed risk building pity (it paid off but i still count it as a mistake):
Intentionally lost 50/50 on Kokomi debut in 2.1 to set up a guarantee for Ganyu rerun in 2.4
I consider getting a constellation on the first 10 pull a win. You’re not losing much progress in terms of reaching the next pity for a 5 star
Leaving the game open (on mobile), while receiving a big package, with Zhongli on field. Poor deliveryman got scared...
I'm guilty of foddering my 5* artifacts. I will work on it and save them for artifact strongboxes.
Rules for artifact farming and leveling
Learn what "bad" and "good" substats are for each character.
On building pity, after being "screwed over" by an early 50/50 beating Kazuha and Kokomi that I did not want at the time while wanting the Shogun and Itto right after (and luckily having just enough free/welkin primos to get what I truly wanted) my new rule is: only "build pity" if I absolutely want the 4 stars, wouldn't mind the 5 star/am curious about them AND either have enough primos to guarantee the next 5 star I want or don't really want any known upcoming 5 star
That's how I got my 35th pull 50/50 defeating Wanderer who....is actually pretty fun as it turns out, even though I don't super want him still
i mean i 'build pitty' on nearly every banner that has a new 4* since i like having all the 4* characters- but to be honest especially now that there are always 2 banners i usually wouldnt mind getting atleast 1 of them. but thats easy to say for someone who has been playing for over 2 years by now and basically has all the charcters they need to clear content.
anyway nice video, i appreciate you disclosing on the whole dont spend your resin on artifacts till youre ar45 bc a lot of people seem i know that got into genshin later on got a bit stressed out over that :)
