Tonebox once again delivers! There's really no song that one could "just skip", everyone is enjoyable! Having said so... My personal favorites are Shock and Memory Uploaded. Shock is so dark and twisty: a complex, ominous song. But then, by the end, it hits you first subtly, then openly, with nostalgia. Memory Uploaded sounds like a very happy song for a Tonebox album but, weird enough, it's actually its "Un-Tonebox-iness" that makes it so "Tonebox-y".
Great attention to detail on both the high and low ends; adding those small details and making changes and detailed additions you wouldn't know were there unless you were paying attention to the editing. Some are gradual and you are lulled into a sense of serenity, only to have a stark, low end shake you back to reality. It's like being on a roller coaster, which is the trip good music is supposed to take you on. He does a great job of mixing styles up and the use of both synthesized and music played with real instruments (keyboards, guitar, bass, you name it) makes for a great mix which shows his years of training at the Berklee College of Music. A serious school for musicians who must audition before being accepted. Looking into their faculty list is a trip down memory lane of the professors who were the backbone of progressive jazz, instrumental rock, and other noted studio musicians, exposing you to all facets throughout the music industry. I would love to hear him come out with another album.
