So I was considering a geothermal heat pump for my house build (I know I know not doing it). Pulled soil temps from a local university associated research farm. There was a very slight trends towards cooling over the last 20 years. LOL 🤣

I love what you are doing but I totally disagree on your take about climate changes and the reasons about inflation. When you look at who's getting massive record profits since 2020, you know they are gouging customers. Same with oil companies. Laughing all the way to the banks. Banks laughing all along with money being pumped into their vault every time they vote to raise the interests (Bank of Canada is sold to the interest of private banks, not the country).
This newspaper owned by a major right-wing organization (Postmedia/Chattham), they favour sensationalism over facts. Revenues are what they are looking for. Not facts. It's quite sad to see all the newspapers and medias owned by only 2-3 conglomerates.
I have an old dictionary (I do this to find the meaning of words before it was tampered). Inflation: “the act of inflating; the state of being inflated; sharp increase in amount of money and credit causing advances in price level”.
The experts on tv use the word wrong, politicians use the word wrong, and everyone uses the word wrong. CPI is “consumer price index”, which can go up or down, not inflate or deflate. It is used as a measurement of general inflation/deflation, but inflation is just 1 factor for CPI.
Companies can increase prices or even price gouge on top of “inflation” as well. That’s why a free market so important and prevents price gouging.
The definition of “inflationist” is “one who causes or believes in manipulated expansion of prices”
I've been in the press a few times too. You're right that they have their story already written in their heads before they talk to you and they're just there to snag some pictures and some brief quotes to tack onto their pre-existing story scaffold.

I love the technology and techniques that you use on your farm and will be copying a lot of them for myself. It's unfortunate that the journalist lied about your reasons for using your technology. That was underhanded. But as a scientist, I find it sad that you are an intelligent person who is denying climate science and climate change. It's funny that you use an Infra red camera (brought to you by scientists) but scoff at the greatest threat facing humanity, climate change (the knowledge of which is brought to you by tens of thousands of scientists). It's unfortunate that you are spreading misinformation about the climate crisis. I guess the tens of thousands of scientists are all in on the conspiracy. I guess the insurance underwriters of the world are also in on the conspiracy as they claim insurance costs are sky rocketing with the increased natural disasters. You should consider taking a first year science course on climate change, I think it would be a real eye opener for you. Or do you think university professors are in on the conspiracy too. (The extra heating of the planet's atmosphere, oceans, etc. that is caused by human activity and the effects that extra heating is having, and will have on our planet). Yes extra CO2 is great for plant growth/health. It's why some cannabis growers use CO2 generators. Unfortunately extra human made CO2 is heating the planet.
QUESTION: After 35 years at a major Canadian university I turned 65 and retired this year. I should be getting a Cybertruck soon, and when I do I'm planning a cross Canada road trip. I would love to visit your farm. Would that be possible? We could test the truck out as farm equipment lol. Anyway, I love your channel and what you're doing on your farm.
QUESTION 2: Did you ever consider using hempcrete as a building material? I went to a three day workshop and was impressed with the product and plan on building with it. Hemp grows well all over Canada and can be used in place of pesticides to clear fields of weeds before planting crops. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Luckily, CO2 is 1.5x heavier than air, and we have gravity so the plant food can get to the plants. Hempcrete looks promising but is not widely used and available here. Lots of neat innovations. Clay rammed earth walls are neat too. I stick to what works and is economical and quick…. Used commercial flat roof insulation, pole buildings, etc. I can build really good things quickly for very cheap.
It's not YOU; it's NOT the CO2...it's the SUN (Solar Cycle)! P.S. I would love to see an average global temperature of 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit, coupled with 1-1.5% atmospheric CO2! Talk about a GREEN Planet!

I grew up in Germany and when I started school in the mid 70’s we were all worried about the coming ice age and we know how that turned out.
You should look into Dr. Willie Soon that talks about the gas of life and fossil fuels. It’s very interesting and entertaining.

Ps: your claim of the definition of inflation is incorrect, inflation means "a general increase in the prices of goods and services in an economy". So, when you raise the rate of prices for your goods, that is inflation. Mostly inflation occurs due to a lack of supply and a strength in demand. This can be due to an increase of money printing, but can also be due to a bad crop and a lack of supply of goods.

StarPhoenix is notoriously disingenuous, I've been approached on the sidewalk by their reporters on a couple occasions over the years to provide my random hot take opinion of some popular issue du jour and both times my words were twisted to show support for whatever it was they wanted to misuse my words for. First time they apparently made me out to be a die hard Roughriders fan that was living my life for them to win a Grey Cup, the other time I was apparently going to great lengths to find a ways to cope with a late spring. I outright refuse to talk with them at all when they approach me now.

Libel is the print version of slander. It would be wise to not give any interviews to the legacy media. You do a better job of showcasing your own ideas on your own social media channels.

South of the Canadian Border we call them the Alphabet Soup News Channels/Crews. Just like in a bowl of Alphabet Soup, you can rearrange the letters to say anything you the writer wants said.
Note that even the TV/Cable Station have embraced the Alphabet Soup title with their Nicknames-ABC, BBC, CBS, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, etc.

Hey man, I appreciate you an all that you do. I think it's crappy that this person misquoted you for their agenda, and there will be many who try and use climate change for their own goals. That said, that doesn't mean it's not real or that it's not going to be a problem, it just means there are shitty people in the world trying to use a crises for their own personal gain. But saying that "doubling the carbon in the atmosphere" would create more food in the world is just simply not true. That's like saying if I dropped a thousand tons of grain on your house you'd be happy because you'd have lots of food - but you wouldn't because you'd be dead and your house would be crushed lol. The problem here is that there are many inter connected systems. For instance if there is more carbon in the atmosphere building up that osmotic pressure will force more to be absorbed into the ocean where it is converted to carbonic acid. That carbonic acid has a bunch of consequences like breaking down the calcium rich exoskeletons and shells of small zooplankton and small marine life which form the bedrock for entire marine ecosystems. What will the earth be like if our oceans are so acidic that life as we know it can't survive? We don't know but I'd put money on it not being good.
Also keep in mind that to make a cake you need a bunch of ingredients, just like you need to grow a plant as I'm sure you know. Sure the main ingredient is flour, but you need salt, oil etc. etc. If I just double the amount of flour in your cake batter you're not going to get twice as much cake, you're going to get a pile of crap that's not edible. It's the same for C02. If we double the amount of carbon without anyway to increase our nitrogen, phosphorous, water.... it won't matter. In chemistry to accelerate a reaction you need to increase the limiting reagent that's causing the bottle-neck, which carbon already is not.
I can appreciate your anti-government sentiment and the fact that your words were misused here and that would annoy me as hell. But just keep in mind that you're in the middle of a misinformation war. Oil companies have spent literal billions on PR campaigns to try and get people to think that climate change is a lie, despite the fact that their own scientists discovered climat change and recognized it's potential destruction of the environment all the way back in the 70s! news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/2023/01/harvard-led-analysis-finds-exxonmobil-internal-research-accurately-predicted-climate-change/ . It's the same tactics the Tabacco industry used for years by trying to tell people that smoking was not a health concern, when documents revealed internally they already knew it was. Obviously because of your great packaged products you have had conversations with bureaucrats and federal employees and know that there are some people who do know their job and others who only think they do. The reporter who twisted your words and his colleagues in main stream media also fall into these categories. A retraction would likely not be on the front page, but it's still a victory you need. A letter to the editor with the content of this video worded in a way more suited is also a good way to go. In fact, if 6 newspapers ran this story, each editor should get a copy of your letter. List the papers you know of and others of us here in your comments can say hello to the editors as well.

“Almost” a non issue. If there is any issue, it would be the exact opposite problem and solution as the general public thinks. Example: I produce grass fed beef on native grasslands, which helps everything. Hydrocarbons make the planet flourish. But a bug protein factory and canola oil with big-ag plant protein to feed a government worker is a major problem. 👍👌

I just read a lot of the comments and hear about CO2. There is a lot of miss information out there and how it affects plant life. Maybe a little video would help.
I have a question for you. My grandmother always said that her plants loved her singing, because they always seemed to become healthier. Was it her singing? Or something else? 🤔
It was the CO2 that her singing was putting out that was helping her plants grow better. So, the answer is "Yes" talking or singing to your plants makes them Happy. And Happy plants produce more O2, which makes Humans & Animals Happy, too.
P.S. Most plants produce O2 from CO2 only during the day thru Photosynthesis. I know of at least two plants that do that at night. An ideal location for Mother-in-Law's Tongue (Snake Plant) & English Ivy is in the Bedroom. You breathe CO2 for them for 8-10 hours and they breathe O2 for you for 8-10 hours, the Perfect Symbiotic Relationship.
Well the CO2 levels are really high so they get trapped in the atmosphere and that warms up the climate am I correct? But I have another question how does the CO2 get up that high? I remember grade 7 science class out teacher told us the CO2 is very heavy and it drops to the ground! Maybe I have forgotten my science class. So if the CO2 rises can't we just use it in a balloon like we use helium? I'm just pondering over this stuff! Or maybe the world's upside down and backwards 🙂
They spray CO2 to form clouds that they call “cloud seeding”. CO2 is higher than a few decades ago (we were almost extinct as a planet), and overall historically low. ✌️👍
Well we can tell if CO2 is high are plants and trees growing faster are they putting on more biomass? Have you recently observed in your lifetime plants growing dramatically faster? I don't know I have the attention span of a fruit fly I prefer to get my information from the news! 🙃

Dean I love all the stuff you do and of course you wouldn't have built that greenhouse the way you did if you were concerned about climate change (and God knows you wouldn't have used THAT much insulation if you were thinking of global warming.. lol....But how have your winters been this last decade?....I used to play pond hockey in Southern Michigan from December 15 or something to like beginning of March yeah that was 30 years ago but these last few winters the lakes don't even freeze over enough to go out there once or twice the entire winter, hell we used to be able to drive our cars on these local lakes....things are getting warmer maybe we are concerned incorrectly about CARBON and it's actually other gases the science is evolving and getting more precise and maybe we should too and governments should as well....we may find out that we could do with much more carbon in the air and the plants would love it...maybe it's methane or some other gas that has far more reaching effects on the warmth I've seen over 30 years....I do love your inflation reasons and rants about that and actually that's the better thesis for that article if the author could have just stuck to that....any thoughts?

When life on earth disappears, (Carbon Based) where do the base elements go? ......to the atmosphere. So saying that rising carbon levels in the atmosphere is going to produce more life on earth is not entirely accurate. Look around most humans are reducing the environment to its most simple form (entropy). And the most simple form of life is stored in the atmosphere as Carbon, nitrogen and oxygen. As the desert expands life oxidizes and becomes a gas. As a farmer tills and sterilizes the ground life in the soil dies and becomes a gas. As the city expands, the life that was present before the dozer strips the soil turns to gas. I could go on and on.
So yes the carbon, oxygen and nitrogen in the atmosphere could be used to create new life on earth, but it can also be used as the grave yard for life on earth. Our choice.

The debate that is not allowed to be had is that more co2 is a net positive. Lots of problems on the world for sure. A human should help nature flourish as it’s in their best interest. As for me, I try and increase my carbon footprint, plant trees and dig ponds to create microclimates and ecosystems, grow soil (carbon), and also increase livestock and wildlife. I guess I promote true sustainability, not fake sustainability.

I live a few hours north of you and have seeded a 200 plus acres of cultivated back into perennial forage, dig ponds (have our own earth moving equipment. We have 1000 acres now under our control being grazed holistically, and a large beaver population that we protect and more wildlife every year.. However if atmospheric carbon was rising solely from unlocking a new carbon source underground that would be good, but if the atmospheric carbon levels are rising because of biodiversity loss and environmental degradation then that's bad. Think about it if there was a catastrophic event on earth , and life got scorched then the main elements necessary for life would be floating around in the atmosphere. My neighbors who farm conventionally also tell me that more co2 is good for plants, yet they have to apply more fertilizer every year and there soil degrades further, plus the continue to simplify the landscape and reduce it to just bare ground. In order for more co2 to be a net positive, we need the natural systems in place to capture it like your demonstrating.
The first 2 polar meltbacks that we know about were before the industrial revolution and all the pollution.
That doesn't mean that humans don't have an accelerated effect on our environment. We are a keystone species, shaping the landscape around us ...
