A lot has changed in the last year when it comes to how PvP plays out in Sea of Thieves; Where it used to be all about going out and finding an opponent the hard way, has now changed as you can be matched up against another player, willing to fight, with the press of a button.
So what does an average day of PvP look like in 2023? That's what I'm here to find out. So join me as I get into some Hourglass PvP as a Solo Slooper in an attempt to build up a winstreak.

What a fight! Reminds me of my own, worst fight I ever had in the hourglass mode. A battle that went on for 50 minutes. Like... where are the interrupters when you need them? 🤗
I had not a single cannonball left... shot over to his Sloop while his mast was down, his ship was full of holes... he laddercamped me to prevent my board from the water.
But the creaking noises made him go below deck to bucket and thats when I came up. After a nervewrecking1vs1, the only Pirate 1vs1 during the entire battle, I defeated him *'just barely'.*
And when he killed me on his respawn and was just about to bucket again... the BWUM noise sounded and declared his ship sunk. He wrote "f u" and we never met again. But the twist was...
... before he respawned and killed me, I took a look in his cannonbarrels and he still had *300 MORE CANNONBALLS* in there so yeah, if I had not made it count on this single board after +50 minutes of him defensively wearing me out... I would have lost. I did not had a single shot anymore in my own Sloop. 😑👌
This battles are not good for my heart. I'm so glad I got both Skelly & Ghost curse and must never queue in ever again. °sigh° 🗿

Average moment of PvP for me usually involves the following.
Step 1 - See a massive brawl going on in some part of the map just as I'm selling my loot and decide it might be fun to get stuck in and get some experience.
Step 2 - Sail to said brawl, psyching myself up to fight through it no matter how bad I am.
Step 3 - Fling a little iron, maybe land some hits
Step 4 - Get boarded, maybe get a hit or two in before falling.
Step 5 - be shaking so bad I can't think straight - give my killer a courtesy "GG" and log off while i deal with the shakes.
I'm over 50 man, my heart can't take the Adrenaline with I'm solo slooping :D
Respect for giving it a good shot though, clearly you're still in for the adventure!

6:07 Cliff echoing once he gets in the cannon is a pretty nice touch. Not sure if it was the game or edited in, but it was nice.
Cliff does a bunch of audio edits to enhance the immersion, stuff like his friend sounding like his voice is coming from far away when far away in game, or more muffled when Cliff is in the vault enclosed by stone in the first shore of gold tall tale or more echoey in a cave, that type of thing

The video has been out for 4 minutes (and I'm 3 minutes late to the upload) BUT I really like that part where you shot that guy, and they shot you but you lived. Much wow, very good. Watched the entire thing front to back.

I had a long discussion with a buddy recently about what we would change in this game, as this is one of both of our favorite games. We never play it because of the lack of progress saving and the PvP system, but one thing we landed on was a limit on total repairs. Once a hole is patched any additional hit is immediately a level 3, any hit before patch is elevated to 3, and have ships have a total “health” in addition to the holes and sinking. You can’t just infinitely repair. Once you take enough hits you have to dock for repairs, and those repairs aren’t instantaneous. It should take 5-10 minutes. You are now on the defensive and guarding for repairs or hunting the ship you’ve been grinding on that’s low, etc.

That guy with the keg was trying to do something I usually did when I was alone on the seas and just wanted to destroy hopes and dreams...I would go to forts and stack the front of my ship with tons of kegs, then proceed to ram straight into someone that was preferably unaware, but just before hitting them, shoot the kegs, causing a massive explosion and killing everyone on board instantly, works on galleons btw, then proceed to grab a rowboat and go away with the loot, trust me, it works, a 1v4 sloop vs galleon was never easier.
