After winning the Sing Off in 2013, Home Free bought out their contract to become independent artists. Big labels will shape you into what they want, whatever sells is what you will become being owned by them. Home Free chose to be who they are, bringing laughter, smiles, tears and every other possible emotion from the music they create. Bravo, Home Free! Band of the people.
This is such a feel good song done by Peter, Home Free & the choir of Patreons. This was done during the pandemic. Fabulous editing! Love all the collaborations Peter has done with Home Free & Tim Foust.
Home free kept me going during lockdown every two weeks they dropped a song which I feel are some of the best songs they’ve done. Can’t wait for this Saturday after 4 years i get to see them in my home town of Manchester UK.
Chance , the one you said you don't hear solo as often , has a softer , smoother , storytelling voice that can really tug at your heartstrings ! Most of his leads are melancholy songs ( " I Can't Outrun You" or "Cover Me Up" ) ... that rich baritone/bass of his really appeals to me the most . The leads are determined by the guys themselves , as to who sounds best doing each song ... no egos in this group ... it's all about the music !
All of the people of Patrons of Peter and Home Free. They sent tracks to the people who wanted to be in the video for each voice part and they sang and recorded themselves singing.
Home Free fans are Home Fries. Flagstaff sign is probably somebody from Arizona who is proud of their hometown. The pictures at the beginning of Peter Hollins with Home Free were outtakes from their pre-pandemic collaboration on Amazing Grace, which is also a great song. Pentatonix did a great version of the new Amazing Grace (my chains are gone) and Peter Hollins and Home Free decided to do the traditional version. Peter Hollins does have an amazing voice. He collaborates with a lot of people. He has done enough songs with Tim Foust of Home Free that he was able to put out a whole album of them. He has worked with Avi Kaplan, also.
Shout out to Darren Rust for the choral arrangement and for mixing the audio of around 350 Patreon patron video submissions! (I remember the call for videos but I've heard myself sing ... that's why I stick a trombone in my face.)
Peter Hollens is an absolute MASTER at layering voices. Many of his works are literally hundreds of layers all synched, tuned, blended, and perfect. Definitely worth your time.
This was during the pandemic. Peter is an amazing artist and he’s a master of layering so I can’t imagine the editing this took. Peter and Tim (bass of Home Free) have done many collaborations- they have an album out. Try Misty Mountains, And So It Goes, Greensleeves. Also Chance has had many leads - try - I Can’t Outrun You, Yours, Some Girls Do, Sea Shanty Medley, Helplessly Hoping and his new one that he wrote Skull and Bones.
What they did was have Rob and Austin record their parts when they weren't singing their verses and then everyone picked one to sing along with. Those tracks were then masterfully mixed into the product we enjoyed.
They harmonize so well with Peter Hollens. Considering this was recorded separately during the Covid lockdowns, kudos to the editor/producer who put it all together! Peter & Tim do wonderful duets of "Green Sleeves" & "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Home Free's fans calls themselves Home Fries. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
I love Chance’s voice! I see that others have suggested I Can’t Outrun You. Other Chance led songs: Skull and Bones ( Chance wrote it and it does have guitar and mandolin in it), The Gambler, Some Girls Do, Yours, Brothers in Arms ( with Tim), and Working For A Living.
When this came out during covid it really hit hard when all the folks came in. Not having been around that many voices for so long... Thanks for reviewing this.
Peter did this Disney villains collab with a lady who is amazing, and she did it in the Brady Bunch windows feel like this, but had one number outside. It's so good! They sing more than one part on each song too. Home Free fans are Home Fries.
Every part of their journey is extremely important and significant to Home Free and is to be celebrated. Their respect for all the groups they interact with is paying off in mega-dividends back to them. They are very intentional with their respect and are extremely humble. They look for the good in others on purpose. They look to collaborate not only with established stars but make opportunities with new rising talented artists as others have done for them. They are what is right for this industry that makes us all fall in love with them individually and collectively as Home Free!!!! They with their leadership are bringing us all along for the ride for the right reasons. Long Live Home Free!!!! ❣
The singer that you said you don't hear sing very often is Adam Chance. Watch the Home Free song Cover Me Up. He is the main singer and be sure to watch until the very end for a surprise.
Yes this was done during the pandemic I remember when Peter was asking for his fans contributing their videos to this. Not the only one he did of this type of thing. I believe Peter Hollens started the whole trend of doing acapella by himself and with Lindsley Sterling. He has done collaborations with not Home Free but Pentatonix, The Hound and The Fox, David Archuleta and many others. His wife is also a great singer.
They are singing the arrangement from the U2 Rattle and Hum live album from about 1990. It is a straight cover of that arrangement, with all the parts represented in the original.
You need to also watch the 1980s music vidio of this shot with Bono & U2 on the streets of old Vegas. Also there is is a great Video of U2 playing with BB King "When Love Comes to Town in the Studio.
How do you mix the home videos of 350 Patreons? I would think some one sings the part, send them the link so they all practise the same thing and then overlay each recording by the 350 recordings. it sounds like an heavenly choir. Great work everyone. Like the reaction as well. CHEERS!!
The one you say you haven't seen very often was Adam Chance aka Chance. Check out HomeFree songs with Chance as lead singer... (Some Girls Do) (Catch Me If You Can) and he shares lead with Tim in (Brothers In Arms).
Follow up suggestions.... Peter Hollens: cover of Ed Sheeran's I See Fire from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Peter Hollens and Tim Foust: So It Goes Peter Hollens and Tim Foust: Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci: Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold
I didn't participate in this one, but I did another one with a friend in 2020. The organizer records the melody and sends out the recording along with a timing chart of some kind, plus instructions/lyrics/etc. You record yourself singing/dancing with the music and send it in. They then have to match up however many people they receive it from. The video & audio mixing on these is an artform in & of itself. In this case, Austin from Home Free & Peter Hollens took responsibility for the melody, timing & instructions. There were over 350 HollensFam and HomeFries who responded. Darren Rust and their video producer (whose name I don't know) did amazing work.
They guys are independent records, so big bucks behind them, and there is no category for acapella . As much as I would love to see that happen, no, just no. I love being able to meet and talk with them, affording their tickets. These guys are the magic, change that dynamic, and it's dimmed, gone.
Great collaboration. If you are interested in the how look up the The Longest Johns, they did some of thos in lockdown, but are still doing them and the how and the audios for parts are online so you take a look - sea shanites and English folk based....
Greetings girl, excellent video. It's been a while since you uploaded anything from home free. You have to upload more videos. Take care of yourself since 🇺🇾🤟🤪
Regarding Chance (the one you don't hear from as much in the group), for an absolute melt-your-heart performance in which he sings lead, check out the song Cover Me (and stay tuned at the end for Chance's proposal!)
You made the comment about how the “industry “ hadn’t taken them over. You should watch the entire season of the song off with home free. Their first appearance was them. But the industry made their changes throughout the competition. And you have a great voice also!!
Hey, this is really lovely! Please check out the Rattle and Hum version of this song by U2 with The New Voices of Freedom gospel choir. You'll know why I suggested it when you hear it. Please consider doing a U2 reaction sometime! Thanks for your videos!
One of my least favorite HF songs. I really don’t know why. I enjoy Tim’s bass line & the video of the Patreons but…. See - even the Home Fries don’t 💜 everything. 😊
You talk to much.... seriously...lol! Ever think of actually listening before pausing & talking & treating viewers feel like idiots? You're good when u listen not pause every 15 seconds & try to teach bigger fans then you. Hmmmm?
After winning the Sing Off in 2013, Home Free bought out their contract to become independent artists. Listen to Peter and Tim sing "Misty Mountains." We Home Free fans refer to ourselves as Home Fries. Proof that music can unite us.
I will keep it in mind, thanks!!

Yes to I Can't Outrun You!!!
Along with Helplessly Hoping, Dive Bar Saints, Yours, and more. 😃👍🏼
All of the people of Patrons of Peter and Home Free. They sent tracks to the people who wanted to be in the video for each voice part and they sang and recorded themselves singing.
And there were black people there as well.
Home Free fans are Home Fries. Flagstaff sign is probably somebody from Arizona who is proud of their hometown.

To hear Chance take the lead, watch "I Can't Outrun You" he directed the video as well and it us just incredible!
I will keep that in mind, thanks!
This ☝️
This is a favorite of mine ❤ i love when peter & home free collab ❤
When the choir of fans comes in it gets me every time.
This such an awesome song. They did this during the pandemic. I love what they did with this. Love your reaction!

I believe you would really enjoy Mayday.

The video editing on this is fantastic, and how much planning went into assigning all the parts to so many contributors??
This one just makes me feel good, just joyful in sound.

Peter & Tim do wonderful duets of "Green Sleeves" & "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Home Free's fans calls themselves Home Fries. Thanks for playing this & your comments.
This was an awesome cover of one of my favorite songs! First time seeing this! Thanks so much Britt! 😅

I wasn’t aware of this cover, thanks for reacting to this. Well done.
The still at the beginning is from their in person recording of Amazing Grace, which was done before COVID.

Chance also has the lead for Some Girls Do - a Sawyer Brown cover.
If you want to hear more of Adam Chance, try "One man band , " Blue ain't your color" "Brother in arms"
You need to also watch the 1980s music vidio of this shot with Bono & U2 on the streets of old Vegas. Also there is is a great Video of U2 playing with BB King "When Love Comes to Town in the Studio.
U2 deserves a deep dive. The've got a ton of amazing songs, and even great version of the same song ("One").
Between Tim and Adam, you have a complete percussion and bass section! Home Free symphonic orchestra!!!

It was during lockdown and home free made some fantastic videos during that time

Peter does an amazing version of Shenandoah--a Cappella
This is why home free is the best. These guys are just awesome!!!!
Great collaboration.
If you are interested in the how look up the The Longest Johns, they did some of thos in lockdown, but are still doing them and the how and the audios for parts are online so you take a look - sea shanites and English folk based....

The Sing off. All A Capella groups.
I would also say they probably left a lot of money on the table staying authentic. That makes it mean that much more.
You didn’t mention my favorite participant in this video-Austin’s cat, Dawg! This was during the pandemic.
