Barry is really going places, the second half of this season is one of the best pieces of television ever: Hilarious, terrifying and incredible performances. It seems Sally is going dark for season 4
Amazing scene, I was blown away by Sarah Goldberg this episode, the intensity was insane! Wonderful job from both actresses, really uncomfortable scene to watch.
Rewatching this scene and reading the comments made me realize Sally and Barry actually aren't so different. Both characters only care about themselves at the end of the day, and if something doesn't go their way, instead of accepting the consequences, they commit bad actions. Barry "cares" about people until they threaten to expose his assassin lifestyle, then he kills them. Sally "cares" about people until they do better than she does, then she sulks, harasses, and bullies them. Both are perfectly happy with throwing others under the bus to save their own skins.
You can definitely see how interactions with Barry and Sam influence her behavior in this scene: she's copying them because that's her reference point for holding power in this kind of confrontation. Copying Sam by hitting the wall next to Natalie, getting up in Natalie's face like Barry did earlier this season...
She's clearly a toxic human. After seeing her no wonder her ex flipped out. I would too if I was around her all the time. If this were real life I'd hate this woman with every ounce of my being. I mean her very first interaction with a stranger (Barry) she's SCREAMING at him because her dumbass was in a parking lot basically sounding like something was happening and he had the audacity to check on her.
I like how they shot to make it appear like Sally is this psychically imposing to Natalie, even though Sarah Goldberg is shorter than everyone. And D'Arcy is one of the tallest actors in the show.

@@fargoshome That’s the point, he’s a killer. But Sally is just a terrible friend and girlfriend too, even before Barry lashed out at her the relationship solely revolved around her. She would ask Barry for rides and help practicing lines but would never help him. Knew it’d happen eventually, didn’t expect it to happen immediately with Joplin getting insta-cancelled, but knew as soon as things stopped going her way, the REAL Sally would show up. She’s never really shown concern for anything beyond her own ambition.
That’s so true! For the first part of this season, I was like “why didn’t I like Sally in the other two seasons, again? She seems kind of cool…” then the moment things stopped going her way I was like, “oh yeah, that’s the reason…” lol but I’m glad they’re addressing it and not erasing the toxic traits she was portraying, before.
I stopped liking her when she straight up told Barry to his face that if he gets this Swim Instructors role she is going to be jealous of him. Who says that? Sure you can feel jealous but keep it to yourself. She expected him to be cool with it. And then she says it's because she is a better actor and therefore deserves more opportunities because she made him. Wtf???? If anything Ryan is the one who pushed him to get onstage and act, and what sort of person tries to take credit for another person's capability?
My wife and I have never liked Sally as a character, so when this episode happened there was alot of catharsis, I was starting to think the show was never going to address her real flaws. All you needed was ten minutes to make it clear who she really is
Tell her to rewatch the show and you’ll see that she made up her abuse story to further her career. It most likely will be revealed this season or the next one.
Sally's Barry moment. She yells at and backs Natalie into a wall. Taking out her personal anger and frustrations on someone who was once her friend, there for her throughout her ups and downs. And like Barry she pays for it. Great writing ✍ 👍

Honestly, Barry AND Sally went past the point of no return. Sally just took a little longer to get there and it was a gradual decline. Whereas Barry seemed to be suffering from the beginning of the season. It's going to be an incredibly interesting Season 4 when they pick up where they left off. I'm excited to see how Hank and Christobal come back, how Fuches meets his demise and how Sally deals with the fallout of everything crashing down around her. I can't wait.
Sally: YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A FUCKING DAUGHTER!! Natalie: Neither do you Sally- Sally: *screeches* This was a scary moment but that part made me laugh 😂😂
Reminds me of: Barry:"I can tell your on a farm cause I hear goats in the background" Fuches: "Im visiting a friend" "I thought you were at a hospital" "!!!"
this scene immediately reminded me of that one article where Sarah Goldberg says she got a lot of inspiration for her portrayal of Sally from watching Matthew Macfadyen’s portrayal of Tom on Succession Tom Wambsgans and Sally Reed HBO’s two most insane girlies 😌💗
I’d say it’s absolute payback for making Natalie her assistant and practically shutting her down when she gets every chance to shut Natalie down, cause she always shat on Natalie every chance she got before she got the show Joplin, and now Natalie gave sally the sweetest payback. I’m happy for Natalie.
Natalie was a good friend to sally and sally Treated her like she did with Barry’s as well as everyone else in her life. As a prop to further her own gains

@@ellie1903 I relate to Sally a lot actually. When you struggled and have a dream you can get like tunnel vision and get so passionate about it . @@love-ip7sz lmfao Natalie isn’t trying to ruin her career, she simply exposed sally for being a shit person which she did all on her own by freaking out like someone with a low emotional iq. The delivery of each line is just so *chef's kiss*, I love how unpredictable of an actress she is, she's always been great but this season she's on a complete different level.
and the thing is...Natalie's show isn't at all like Sally's show. At most its just similar in that it is about a mom and daughter but it's clearly a sitcom while Sally's show Joplin was a drama. Sally is such a painful mix of traumatized and entitled that she's actually deluded herself into thinking that 1. Natalie somehow betrayed her 2. that this makes what she's doing ok
Has anyone noticed that the end is also a reference to the acting class scene where Sally and Barry each could only say a single phrase ("I love you.") to express different emotions?
The way she reacts to her trauma are totally realistic and validated. But what makes Sally so flawed is not that she thinks deserves more because of her trauma, but that others deserve less. Just because Natalie "didn’t have a hand around her neck", she wasnt deserving of success. The goal of any actor is not just to understand your own feelings, but also attempt to understand your scene partner's. It’s sad that Sally was so caught up in her trauma that she couldn’t do that. Again, not her fault, but still.
That little moment, when we see Nathalie treat her assistant like Sally treated her... the usual cycle of abuse, with victim repeating the pattern of the abuser and becoming one themselves. We saw that with Sally, now it's Nathalie's turn and it will be passed down every single time. An automatic abuse machine that basically run itself and ruin life without any sense or reason.
Natalie's show is like Sally's show but with those formula bits they talked about, like always starting an episode with someone eating dessert and having Dev Patel in the cast.
I loved this scene, particularly when she does the 'metal voice', she sounds demonic. If you've ever seen someone break like this in real life, their voice can go all over the place. What an actress.
Sally's meltdowns and freakouts are the best I've ever seen. I didn't like her character as a person (writing-wise she makes perfect sense but definitely not someone I would put up with irl) but her neurosis and temper are so enthralling, I couldn't look away this whole scene.
The next time I hear someone brag about having "no filter" I'm going to show them scenes from Barry. It makes you think how sometimes people who go on about how truthful they are really just use it as an excuse to say whatever angry, selfish thing comes into their head regardless of the consequences. Sarah Goldberg's performance here gives you really valuable clue as to why "Joplin" failed without us even seeing the show. It was "her story", and if she shoehorned in ten, fifteen, twenty lines about how great everyone thinks her character is in episode one the audience isn't going to be entertained they're just going to roll their eyes and pur on a a sitcom instead. That's why mentioning Everybody Loves Raymond is such a great framing device, an easy on the brain family comedy....sure. But it held such universal appeal Russia made it's own version of the show for goodness sake. Comedy and drama have always been at odds, Bill Hader's screenplays make them come together and explode.
@@matthewriley7826 ever since her and Barry broke up it's been downhill for Sally, I'm sure next season they will get back together and she will find out he's been a killer all along.

it’s incredible how barry is just inadvertently influencing people in his circle first we got gene trynna make amends by getting eisner a job. now we have sally going off the rails same way barry did earlier in the season
I think there maybe some influence from Barry but I also think its meant to show how Sally, and even other people’s judgmental view of Barry’s break down, was arrogant and hypocritical. Barry’s reaction and conduct was driven by his sense of futility and failure and his desire to fix it. Sally’s blow up is very similar as are the ramifications. I think we in the audience tend to view Barry’s mindset and attitude as something limited to him but in truth we’re all in someways selfish and capable of snapping over setbacks. Just without the whole mass murder and violence aspects hopefully.
I love that if Natalie didnt responded "neither do you" Sally would had probably keeped the sad act all the way through and the viral video would had been pretty much in her favor, but after bursting out it was absolutely unsalvageable
imagine trying to say this behavior was because of barry and not just her being her because it was the first scenario that called for it. Hypocrite, people yell, but oh she dumps barry for it.

Honestly, after all she’s been through, I’m happy things are going good for Natalie
I don't like that she's treating her assistant the same way Sally treated her
@@fangal12 The Cycle Continues...
All she’s been through? Her boss was vaguely naive on their creative job in Hollywood. Hardly a lot to go through hhahaha
@@PrimerCinePodcast
Her boss was narcissistic, entitled, and impossible to work with.
@@fangal12 eh she still comes off as more likable than Sally imo, plus that's not really out of character for Natalie to do.
"You ainnnnt nothing without me, you ain't nothing, nobody, you sssshhhhhtupid piece of sssssshhhhhit" the way she delivers that line LMAO
The fact she’s obviously recording and I didn’t catch it before is amazing
Barry is really going places, the second half of this season is one of the best pieces of television ever: Hilarious, terrifying and incredible performances. It seems Sally is going dark for season 4
We're about to find out very soon.
Ding ding ding!
Sure hit that nail on the head…
Amazing scene, I was blown away by Sarah Goldberg this episode, the intensity was insane! Wonderful job from both actresses, really uncomfortable scene to watch.
I swear Sally's scenes especially past S2 just makes me go "😬" 90% of the time..the actress absolutely nails this role
Loved that the stare & growing static bgm mirrors Barry's rage moments
The absolute tiniest hint of a "gotcha" smile on Natalie's face at the very last moment...
Sally always talked about how she was in an abusive relationship
Interestingly, here, she’s acting similar to how an abusive partner/spouse would be
It’s a vicious Cycle. Not many people are able to breakaway from it sadly... :/
Sometimes the Abused become Abusers themselves.
My ex was the same way. Always talked about having been emotionally abused, but was herself really emotionally manipulative, aggressive, and mean.
God that actress that plays sally is so phenomenal. I’m worried she’s going to take up Barry’s offer
I'm thinking/ he finale Is gonna be her visiting barry in the hospital and asking for help
@@GamingBenchmarksBI Or, what if it’s like Macbeth and Sally has blood on her hands and has to deal with guilt?
@@Sharpe1502 Holy shit. I think you nailed it. That's EXACTLY what they're going to do, Bill is a genius.
I saw what you did there, and I dig it.
@@Sharpe1502 great catch!
@@themadisonmafia7230 good call! I could see that
I like how they shot to make it appear like Sally is this psychically imposing to Natalie, even though Sarah Goldberg is shorter than everyone. And D'Arcy is one of the tallest actors in the show.
Pretty realistic since not all abusers are physically superior to their victims, just another incredible detail from this show
glad this happened, she's always been all about herself and the camera recording was genius, didnt see it coming. just how she left Barry in his darkness, everyone is leaving her in hers
@@fargoshome That’s the point, he’s a killer. But Sally is just a terrible friend and girlfriend too, even before Barry lashed out at her the relationship solely revolved around her. She would ask Barry for rides and help practicing lines but would never help him. (Or reluctantly help) She would gleefully tell him about her roles she got but when Barry got a role she was spiteful and rude. So yes, Barry is a psycho killer, while Sally is an extremely self centered and entitled person with a superiority complex.
@@helpy8973 yeah they had the most toxic relationship I’ve ever seen on tv😂
Eh, she was not wrong for dumping Barry. She is an entitled asshole, but she was totally right for dumping Barry.
@@fargoshome Just because Sally is abused doesn't mean she is flawless. The show is so great at manipulating you into thinking that she's an innocent victim who can do no wrong.
Sarah Goldberg needs to win an Emmy
This girl is a fantastic actress. Love her freakouts
Lol I love the freak outs too
Her facial expressions are better than Meryl Streep
My wife and I have never liked Sally as a character, so when this episode happened there was alot of catharsis, I was starting to think the show was never going to address her real flaws. All you needed was ten minutes to make it clear who she really is
Tell her to rewatch the show and you’ll see that she made up her abuse story to further her career. It most likely will be revealed this season or the next one.
@@masterzombie161 no it wont lol.
@@masterzombie161 it's already been revealed

Lol that's exactly what she did 😅
The parallels between Sally and Gene are so incredible.
Notice that Natalie is already doing the same to her assistant what Sally did to her, the vicious cycle of Hollywood continues!
Sally's Barry moment. She yells at and backs Natalie into a wall. Taking out her personal anger and frustrations on someone who was once her friend, there for her throughout her ups and downs. And like Barry she pays for it. Great writing ✍ 👍
It’s even better when you learn Natalie taped Sally’s freak out and sally just makes it even worse by trying to damage control the situation. She 100% destroyed her career
It’s all on her; and I’m happy it’s going bad for her
@@codyhiginbotham6616yea that’s what makes it satisfying it’s not some high up executive shooting her down its the fact that everything is self inflicted.
Lol the look on her face at the end just says “You just buried your career, sweetie.”
I mean I knew it right from the get go with the way she was holding the phone/how she is as a person and how that whole world operates. Soon as the scene I was over I was like "damn, Sally just fucked up"
I think she was doomed to end up that way, Sally is a dangerous mix of talented, ambitious, and narcissistic.
The fact Sarah Goldberg hasn't won an Emmy yet for this show is criminal.
Good for both of them. I get Sally’s absolute rage and anger, but I’m glad that Natalie gave Sally a taste of her own medicine
Sally: YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A FUCKING DAUGHTER!!
Natalie: Neither do you Sally-
Sally: *screeches*
This was a scary moment but that part made me laugh 😂😂
Yeah it’s her ex’s son who she didn’t care for and was another reason why she faked the abuse story.
Reminds me of:
Barry:"I can tell your on a farm cause I hear goats in the background"
Fuches: "Im visiting a friend"
"I thought you were at a hospital"
"!!!"
@@masterzombie161 is this the only thing you can talk about with this show lol
*Growls LOL
@masterzombie maybe that was your experience idk not sallys
Notice how her voice register went so deep in the end, straight from her gut. She went primal.
this scene immediately reminded me of that one article where Sarah Goldberg says she got a lot of inspiration for her portrayal of Sally from watching Matthew Macfadyen’s portrayal of Tom on Succession
Tom Wambsgans and Sally Reed
HBO’s two most insane girlies 😌💗
Sally does seem the type to emasculate and marry someone in a heartbeat
I'm looking forward to Sarah's nomination on the next Emmy Awards.
Sally seems hilarious in this scene.
I know there is something dark behind it but I laughed a lot .
She deserves an Emmy.
As a prop to further her own gains
same but honestly, Natalie has always been a very self centered person as well. Not to say she deserved this but I love how this show makes you root for otherwise shitty people lol. I used to hate sally initially but overtime I’ve grown to understand her and relate to her a lot…I’m excited for the new season fr. I can’t wait to see her do some fucked up shit 😂😭
This very clip shows Natalie treating some other assistant with the same casual contempt she was treated by Sally. Sally was awful to her before, but it's hard to root for either of these abusive narcissists.
@@ellie1903 I relate to Sally a lot actually. When you struggled and have a dream you can get like tunnel vision and get so passionate about it . The way Natalie recorded and posted her meltdown was worse because she knew how important Sally's dreams are to her and she's gonna try to ruin her career over a meltdown which was ofc way out of line but still. Yeah I empathize with her here idc
@@love-ip7sz lmfao Natalie isn’t trying to ruin her career, she simply exposed sally for being a shit person which she did all on her own by freaking out like someone with a low emotional iq. Sally is in the wrong here a hundred times. Sally thinks because her previous bf put his hand around her neck she is somehow deserving of everything that comes with Hollywood, when she couldn’t even keep her own show around for more than a day. And just because your dreams are “important” you don’t get to treat everyone like shit around you, and expect them to keep being nice to you. People aren’t doormats
1:02 Natalie's assistant's hands are full and Natalie still makes her push the elevator button.
Sally's rage is so extreme
Love the directing, I have the same phone so I was focused on the lens of the camera during this scene. Noticed it but didn’t think she was taping, greatly played
The characters in this show are so surprisingly multi-dimensional.
Sarah Goldberg is brilliant in this scene.
Total Chernobyl Meltdowns are her Forte. However, sometimes it appears to go way beyond acting.
Sarah goldberg doesnt have that many acting credits either, yet she killed it in this show. SUCH GOOD ACTING.
This makes me think Sally will go back to Barry for help with revenge or possibly try some of his psychological terror tactics herself
Sarah Goldberg should have been nominated for the Emmy. She was incredible.
Sally: YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A FUCKING DAUGHTER!!
Natalie: Neither do you Sally-
Sally: screeches
This moment reminded me so much of Barry losing his shit on Sally in the same season.
Has anyone noticed that the end is also a reference to the acting class scene where Sally and Barry each could only say a single phrase ("I love you.") to express different emotions?
Sally sounded like a pure demon right there
0:16 I love this shot
1:50 she looks down at the phone to make sure is recording 😅
Sally always wants to tell people she brought them up soon as they achieve some success
"HARRY, DID YA PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE!???" Sally said calmly.
Natalie's show is like Sally's show but with those formula bits they talked about, like always starting an episode with someone eating dessert and having Dev Patel in the cast.
I wonder if Sally's rage will lead her to reevaluate Barry's usefulness in wrecking revenge.
Lol yeah she’s probably reconsidering his “non-violent” methods on Natalie.
Jesus fucking christ Sarah Goldberg did this in the first try and she did AMAZING
This was really intense the first time I saw the episode but the aftertaste is hilarious!! I can barely type this from laughing LOL
Her yelling is my new ringtone
Lowkey sally’s friend deserved all the success she got !
no
"Impressive, Sally. Barry has taught you well."
The next time I hear someone brag about having "no filter" I'm going to show them scenes from Barry.
It makes you think how sometimes people who go on about how truthful they are really just use it as
an excuse to say whatever angry, selfish thing comes into their head regardless of the consequences.
Sarah Goldberg's performance here gives you really valuable clue as to why "Joplin" failed without
us even seeing the show. It was "her story", and if she shoehorned in ten, fifteen, twenty lines about how
great everyone thinks her character is in episode one the audience isn't going to be entertained they're just
going to roll their eyes and pur on a a sitcom instead.
That's why mentioning Everybody Loves Raymond is such a great framing device, an easy on the brain
family comedy....sure. But it held such universal appeal Russia made it's own version of the show for goodness
sake. Comedy and drama have always been at odds, Bill Hader's screenplays make them come together and
explode.
A legendary scene
i knew at the end her holding her phone up she was recording lmao
Lol her face is like “You just buried yourself sweetie.”
@@matthewriley7826 ever since her and Barry broke up it's been downhill for Sally, I'm sure next season they will get back together and she will find out he's been a killer all along.

The Emmy's should have a dramedy category.
I've seen some of the best performances in dramedies overlooked due to it being pigeonholed into the comedy category.
The winners are always from straight comedy scenes only.
“Neither do you sally…?” Makes me laugh every time
I wanna take this show's screenplay and put it on a pedestal. It is so good.
This show might be about a sociopathic hitman but the only real villain is the crazy unhinged manipulative Sally
0:53 the apprentice has become the master
Perhaps but watch and see.
it’s incredible how barry is just inadvertently influencing people in his circle first we got gene trynna make amends by getting eisner a job. now we have sally going off the rails same way barry did earlier in the season
I think this was the best episode of the show so far.
I'll wager this is exactly how people operate in Hollywood.
"I chewed your carrots for you"
"You entitled ****"
😂😂😂😂
I love that if Natalie didnt responded "neither do you" Sally would had probably keeped the sad act all the way through and the viral video would had been pretty much in her favor, but after bursting out it was absolutely unsalvageable
This felt good to let out.
I have a feeling sally’s gonna need Barry’s help with Natalie since he offered to break in her bosses house.
This is classic narcissistic rage. Sarah Goldberg killed this role.
I hope Sarah Goldberg doesn’t get the same treatment as Anna Gunn
This show’s acting IS NEXT LEVEL OH MY GOODNESS
God I love this show so much
Barry is a great show~!
Sally's rage can be so scary
imagine trying to say this behavior was because of barry and not just her being her because it was the first scenario that called for it. Hypocrite, people yell, but oh she dumps barry for it.
I loved this.
