@@donaldcarpenter5328: I have to agree with you, Donald. I’ve often thought the same thing. What happened to all that talent after they broke up? Prior to that, Paul could write a hit song nearly every day of the week. But after the breakup, you could count his really memorable songs on one hand over the next 40 years! My favorite McCartney song after the Beatles was “My Love”. That’s one of the few that sounded like it could’ve been a Beatles song.
@@mileswalcott7241: Yes, I do think that’s one of the big reasons, Miles. Whether they intended (or meant) it to be their “last” song, or not, that’s certainly the way most of the public thought of it, and it was a sad one at that! I was around back then and I do remember “The Long and Winding Road” as being their last release. I think it was right around the same time as “Let It Be,” actually. But I definitely think people think of, and associate it with being the last song of the Beatles…and, therefore, the end of The Beatles. Let’s face it, it does sound like a farewell song.
Timeless and beautiful, never realized growing up in the 60's how great the Beatles were then, and still are today. Brings tears to my eyes, all the memories.
In the documentary Get Back (on Disney plus only unfortunately) they show Paul sitting in the piano and just creating the lyrics and melody out of the blue - He says the fist 2 lines quickly and sits down and simply plays. He’s a genius, a prodigy!! He and the Beatles. I LOVE them for the rest of my life.
“It's rather a sad song. I like writing sad songs, it's a good bag to get into because you can actually acknowledge some deeper feelings of your own and put them in it. It's a good vehicle, it saves having to go to a psychiatrist." - Paul McCartney, 1994
The Beatles’ art is today part of the British Treasure, and no wonder why. This is the Michelangelo of our times. I can’t stop listening and it makes me cry!!
Written in 1968 in his farm on the Highlands. It's about the forthcoming Beatles dissolution, but also and for everyone of us a memento of life. It's memory and desire, loss and hope. ❤
Four words and two dates = the most poignant and loving message I've ever read in response to a video. Your mother loves you as well Charley, and you will be together again.
Beautiful is all i can say. No one in our lifetime will ever write a song like this. So many bands nowadays most are not good. They can NEVER top the Beatles.
This is so beautifully simple, strangely this is how I remembered it. I came here because I heard a version played today on the radio with a huge orchestral accompaniment which just didn’t sound right, in fact it sounded like a Peter Skelern Ballard if anyone remembers him.
Four years into our marriage, my wife left me. I came one afternoon, knocked on the door and she did not answer. She had left forever. We only had one set of keys and was left standing there by the door. You can imagine what I feel every time I listen to this song. I had always loved the song for its emotional effect it has in all of us. But now I listen to it and it breaks my heart every time in the most painful way possible, but ever so beautifully and in a sad nostalgic way.
A soul filled song that truly showed us the struggle of breaking up with people you have been friends with for a while. It had to be done because the individuals had to much talent and needed to spread their own wings. Although they aren't the most talented band, I believe them to be the greatest band of all time because of their influence. This song represents our love for others who are leaving us. "In the end, the love you make is the love you take".

This is how The Long and Winding Road shoud have been released - all stripped back. Paul never liked the actual released version which was 'over produced' by Phil Spector
+andyrob35 I'm an avid Beatles fan and have been for over 30 years and I dont even own this album ( have Let it Be Naked instead). I think Phil Spector did a lousy job with it. The Glyn Johns version in my opinion was the best compilation.
I like this better too but the story always was that Ringo called McCartney on the phone and asked him if he liked the acetate and he said it was ok. He didn't sour on the song outright until a few days after when he had an outburst on Ringo and formal announced Beatles was over beating out Lennon from announcing such due to legal obligations. And Spector was never wrong when he pointed out that McCartney happily accepted the Academy Award and went on to use Spector's arrangement in over 25 years of touring.
+TRJ2241987 I love Spector's arrangement. The ghostly choir was a bit much, that's where he fell down for me. But the lush strings and harp really added to the song. Lennon was right to have him on board, if only for his work on this track. It's a great song which stands alone even with piano and voice alone, but I love Spector's take on it.
Winding is a great song....at the time miraculous....but my fave song ---after thinking about it a long long time --- is here comes the sun. what a gift that song is!
I met my future husband in 1969. We lived about 30 miles apart . This was our song. We are still going strong. Married 43 years. Love him so much more today. Still our song.

This song, this road, while I believe to know the reason written, as does Paul, creates an emotion. Not only the sound but the words, though words not needed. Wind blowing through the leaves on a trail once shared or a sunset, that sound, that place, moments...I am thankful for. I know it was a place, moment, beautiful, as all are. Yesterday is only in the mind, the heart. But today is hopefully the place that reflects that place/moment.

I like this naked arrangement possibly the best. Can just hear the others slightly in the background supporting Paul, it's sweet and nice to listen out for it. Someone talked Paul's vocal vulnerability in this song, what a great way of putting it.
I had a cathartic release of emotion listening to this song. One minute I was drawing & quite happily singing along to Beatles music & then this came on & when it got to the line 'you left me waiting here, a long, long time ago...' up came this fount of absolute grief & I sobbed my heart out; I felt utterly heartbroken... I knew what it was about but it was so unexpected & I felt quite empty & cleansed after it. I had similar experiences to some scenes in the Lord of the Rings... every time it came to one scene the same thing happened. Music is very healing.

Is it because it was the last released single from their let it be album. It sums up the journey of the Beatles.
The Worlds Number One Group.
yesssssssssss
They sure are.

Betaboog that's some joke.
doors were more creative sorry just how God works
Timeless and beautiful, never realized growing up in the 60's how great the Beatles were then, and still are today. Brings tears to my eyes, all the memories.
This is such a beautiful and moving song. I always cry when I hear it.
Me too automatically
One of there greatest songs

In the documentary Get Back (on Disney plus only unfortunately) they show Paul sitting in the piano and just creating the lyrics and melody out of the blue - He says the fist 2 lines quickly and sits down and simply plays. He’s a genius, a prodigy!!
He and the Beatles. I LOVE them for the rest of my life.
He had idea for this song in 1968
@@nixon9346 Oh I see. Not an expert here though.
“It's rather a sad song. I like writing sad songs, it's a good bag to get into because you can actually acknowledge some deeper feelings of your own and put them in it. It's a good vehicle, it saves having to go to a psychiatrist." - Paul McCartney, 1994

As I 've grown older this song means much more to me it is simply beautiful to hear this version.

Just a genius and a one of his many masterpieces
ua-cam.com/video/cWAk68sBrfo/v-deo.html
The Beatles’ art is today part of the British Treasure, and no wonder why. This is the Michelangelo of our times. I can’t stop listening and it makes me cry!!
Still beautiful and bittersweet. I love the Beatles!

I'm having my sisters memorial at a beach in 2 weeks. This is the song she wanted played as we throw ashes & flowers into the Ocean !!

Written in 1968 in his farm on the Highlands. It's about the forthcoming Beatles dissolution, but also and for everyone of us a memento of life. It's memory and desire, loss and hope. ❤
I love you,Mother

Charley Neal sorry to your loss
Four words and two dates = the most poignant and loving message I've ever read in response to a video. Your mother loves you as well Charley, and you will be together again.
so sorry
Big hugs Charley xxx 😘
so sorry friend
the Beatles changed everything!

this song is already so vulnerable. this version is just... is someone cutting onions in here?
ua-cam.com/video/cWAk68sBrfo/v-deo.html
Beautiful is all i can say. No one in our lifetime will ever write a song like this. So many bands nowadays most are not good. They can NEVER top the Beatles.
ua-cam.com/video/cWAk68sBrfo/v-deo.html
A song in a class all its own. None better anywhere.😭😭
I'm not even born yet and I love this music
ua-cam.com/video/cWAk68sBrfo/v-deo.html
My parents weren't even were born
This is so beautifully simple, strangely this is how I remembered it. I came here because I heard a version played today on the radio with a huge orchestral accompaniment which just didn’t sound right, in fact it sounded like a Peter Skelern Ballard if anyone remembers him.
It makes you wonder where he was in that moment in time when he was putting this song together. Absolutely beautiful ❤
The Maestro playing my all time favourite song.

This song take me to different places... places I've never been... ♥
God bless you, Paul, RIP, John and George, and Ringo, never change!

If you could see my skin now...goosebumps straight away! I simply love this song and this version enhances its beauty so much❤
A soul filled song that truly showed us the struggle of breaking up with people you have been friends with for a while. It had to be done because the individuals had to much talent and needed to spread their own wings. Although they aren't the most talented band, I believe them to be the greatest band of all time because of their influence. This song represents our love for others who are leaving us. "In the end, the love you make is the love you take".

this song reminds me of my mama who was sadly beat by cancer.

This song always makes me sad. It reminds me of an Uncle. This song was playing at his funeral.. He died unexpectedly.
this song was played at my grandfather's funeral so I would listen to it when I needed it and I am very sorry for your loss😢💖
I love so many of the Beatles’ songs, but I don’t think any of them make me as emotional as this one
This was their swansong. It was the Beatles last single.I remember feeling sad that they were gone .But they ll never really be gone will they ?.They re immortal now .
Love this, hard to find, rendition of this song. You can’t hear the beauty of the piano in the released album with an entire orchestra.
absolutely one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded
Why don't more people talk about his song ❤️

This is how The Long and Winding Road shoud have been released - all stripped back. Paul never liked the actual released version which was 'over produced' by Phil Spector
+andyrob35 I'm an avid Beatles fan and have been for over 30 years and I dont even own this album ( have Let it Be Naked instead). I think Phil Spector did a lousy job with it. The Glyn Johns version in my opinion was the best compilation.
+andyrob35 Yah well apparently PS murdered more than just this song....
+andyrob35 Yah well apparently PS murdered more than just this song....
BEST BEATLE SONG NO DOUBT!!
PAUL McCARTNEY SONG, by the way!!!
+Joao Arminio What?
+Tronald Dump this song was write by paul
Gabbo Ever Yes but it's a Beatles song
Winding is a great song....at the time miraculous....but my fave song ---after thinking about it a long long time --- is here comes the sun. what a gift that song is!
I met my future husband in 1969. We lived about 30 miles apart . This was our song. We are still going strong. Married 43 years. Love him so much more today. Still our song.
Glad your marriage is still going strong!! Lucky YOU!
Their last hit. I remember it still.

Personally I think this is Paul’s most beautiful song, how incredible are the emotion, lyrics, and piano? This song is proof that he is an ALL TIME GREAT

This song makes me cry every time I hear it. First, my boyfriend passed away in September of 2017, then my brother passed last November 2018 unexpectedly. They both left me "standing here" grieving for them!

One of the most beautiful songs of all time! ❤️

It's so live and vivid. It's like you are in the room with them. All the imperfections just make the song outstandingly great. Great shot. Thank you very much for publishing!

@@ochilatitedegustatori760 because he is my idol. And he is a good man. He told us that whenever he will reach of conpensating in his channel he will.donate it to the public school in their province.
This song always makes me cry. It touches the past, my youth, the loss of love and time that I can never get back. The fear of my life being over, never finding true love or happiness 😭😭😭
I'm sad, I'm 11, none of my friends care about amazing music like this, they laugh at me because I like it and they call me "old fashioned "
I'm in the same situation hahaha
lol
They also probably think that Justin Beiber is a 'musician' hahah. Don't worry - THIS is real music!
lol
noi in Italia diciamo : "Non ti curar di loro ma guarda e passa"... Love The Beatles
Recuerdo a mi abuelo en los noventas y luego su partida luego la de mi madre. Es muy sentida está canción, significa mucho para mí. Gracias Dios por los Beatles
I heard this was the Beatles last song, either recorded or composed,
I always thought of it as a Beatles goodby to each other, a Breakup. Once you start listening to the song, you cant stop until its over.

So much peace and grace, they really gave you space and time to appreciate the genius works of art you were listening to. This will be playing in my final taxi.

Thanks for this upload
James Murphy yes this is the best one I've heard on you tube..
This raw version of long winding road by Paul only shows how talented he really is, I find myself wanting listen again and again.
I agree, and from a later version, a keen listener will notice how Paul at this stage, is still "working" on note choices for the melody and phrasing.
Every time I hear this song I think of my brother, Darrin, who passed away from esophageal cancer at the age of 57. You'll always be with me in my heart! RIP bro.
Angel, you WILL see Darrin again. I promise.

Omg please don't make me cry, This song has special meaning to me....

The Beatles Hym is a masterpiece.
