It always make me laugh that an instructor qualification includes shooting. What does my individual ability to hit a target have to do with my ability to instruct a student. That is like saying all NFL running back coaches need to still run a 4.5 40yd dash. Or an NBA coach must hit 74 out of 100 free throws. Or an MLB hitting coach has to be able to clear the park 7 out of 10 pitches. Really? What if I have been an instructor for 40 years and now have Parkinsons or had a stroke. Is my knowledge any less valuable? Hitting the target in NO WAY indicates if you can relay information effectively to a student.
If an instructor cannot perform the tasks he is asking of his students, that would be a clue that he/ she doesnt fully understand what they are “teaching”. There are too many instructors out there that do this and it needs to stop.
@@CraigSummers Yes. I hold numerous state, alphabet and gun advocacy instructor ratings. I also have coached HS and D1 sports. Coaching/Instructing is the ability to relay information, diagnose issues, provide corrective support and connect with a student. At some point, our physical abilities fail us but we still may have the knowledge in our heads. If I have a spinal fusion, I may not be able to hit the golf ball straight any longer - does that negate telling you the proper way to swing a club? I never even touch my firearm when on the range teaching.
@@papimaximus95you are doing your students a disservice when you dont demo. In addition to displaying a certain level of proficiency, it is also providing another teaching style to the student who needs to see things done. Some are auditory, visual or hands on learners. But im pretty sure you already knew this being a teacher
