    Well... I've been receiving some negative comments recently regarding the title, movie clips...etc. I would like to make some points.
    [1] I didn't use standard wing chun terminology like lap sao or Pak sao because I wanted everyone (even those inexperienced in Martial arts) to understand the point.
    [2] When I gave the title "Unnoticed" it does not exactly mean invisible. Most people would miss those movements even though they have seen the movie 1000 times (check some of the comments). You might notice the feints if you are specifically looking for them in this video. It is very hard to notice them if you are watching it in a sequence.
    [3] Movie footages have been used because they are the only ones available for Bruce Lee. A lot of Bruce Lee content are being held by private collectors. Also don't compare saying Bruce was just an actor. Please understand that Bruce Lee came into film only to spread his philosophy of fighting. He thought that was better than starting a school. Bruce lee's fight choreography is based on realism. Many MMA fighters including Anderson silva, Jon Jones, Conor McGregor...etc have said that Bruce Lee was their Idol.
    [4] The movement before the sidekick is definitely a feint. Please read his book.
    [5] Please read the description before you dive in :D

      You know what my friend, as I saw this video, I recognized that i just knew a litttle bit of his greatness in his Martial Arts. Man there will be no any human being will achive this skill that he had. No one even not those who might be great at this time. He was the Newton of Martial Arts!

      Bruce lee was awesome... but during the time he had on earth, he did not achieve his maximum... there are faster and stronger masters out mainly because of the body mechanics of their system (eg. Yin Fu Baegua) and ways of training... that are far superior to Wing chung or JKD. But they will never show us outsiders... one of the most important things about Kung fu is the sense of humbleness which Bruce Lee did not bring. That pissed off alot of people.

    • @hopewu7173
      @hopewu7173 10 років тому +36

      Jason W i think he did bring, actually. like in "way of the dragon," he shows a lot of respect to Norris. More importantly, people are stronger than him don't have his speed; people are as fast as he was don't have his power.

      You didn't have to use Wing Chun terminology. The point was to show just how extremely fast Bruce Lee was, to basically throw two punches within a split second, which is undoubtedly a more complicated task. I've said it before that Bruce Lee was INHUMANLY fast! 2:08 shows JUST how fast. At 0.10, you pointed out the Wing Chun blocking technique, but what's ALSO not seen is that Bruce's third punch, which looks like an elbow, is actually a FULLY EXTENDED punch that extends completely PAST Bob Walls head! I've watched this on VHS, and ran the clip frame by frame. But even in slow motion, the camera does not pick it up. If anyone has this on VHS or DVD, go to that scene and run it frame by frame. It's a three-step fighting sequence, and the third punch is a fully extended punch, in which Bruce's forearm is well past Bob's head. Thank you for posting. By the way, I wonder would it be possible for anyone to CLOCK just how fast Bruce's third punch was in that scene? Incidentally, the third block/deflection by Bruce is a Pak Sao that's included with the third punch, for those who don't know.

    The fact that he even put feints into his movies knowing that the audience may not even see it shows his dedication to his work and the perfectionist he was to his art and movies. A true innovative and one of a kind person

      As far as I know, Bruce Lee wanted to teach martial arts through their films, as well, it wasn't just mere entertainment. It must be that almost every interview with him it's about teaching what he learned and discovered.

    Bruce Lee movements are that of a fighter not an actor. I always see comments of people saying he was an actor. Real MMA fighters give Bruce respect and consider him the Godfather of MMA. If Bruce was fake real fighters wouldn't give him respect. No real fighter praises Van Damm. Cause they know he's Hollywood. Years ago in Vegas I met Bob Wall (Ohara) at a after party of a kickboxing event he said it was a wonder that they got Enter The Dragon finished. Because so many guys would challenge Bruce on set. He would beat them down and they would go back to filming. He said it drove the director crazy cause he was so afraid Bruce was gone get hurt. He said he was small but his speed and freakish strength was amazing to see in real life. He was far ahead of his time, if you look at the beginning of Enter The Dragon that fight with a young Sammo Hung looks similar to MMA of today.

    The human natural instinct is to react to the first motion of attack. So when Bruce uses the feint, your natural reaction is to try and block it which is a misdirection leading you wide open for a counter attack. Even if you knew it was a feint, it would be too late to react because Bruce Lee was way too fast for your brain to process all that.

      Many of his punching attacks and upper head movement have been used by world class boxers such as his Muhammad Ali head movement, his Floyd Mayweather parry and shoulder roll, and his Manny Pacquiao lower faints. Bruce Lee was way beyond his years, he would have been an incredible boxer had he only focused on punching. A definition of a complete fighter, he can punch, kick, block, feint, parry, counter, and grapple all with speed and power.

    There are various stories of him getting challenged randomly by people in the streets, on movie sets etc. He won them all, and the people challenging him really paid the price. I wish there were some footage out there. Even though most of these fights didn't last long it would have been nice to see Bruce Lee fighting for real.
    One encounter took place at one of his homes(Bob Wall tells this story in one of the documentaries included with Enter the Dragon special editions). Someone climbed the stone wall surrounding his property and challenged him. Bruce sidekicked the crap out of him. Fight over.
    Another took place on the Enter the Dragon set. I think Bob Wall told this one too but I can't remember if it was him or Robert Krause. One of the extras sitting on one of the stone walls hopped down and challenged Bruce. He was supposedly pretty good and in good shape. Bruce got him against the wall, knee trapped him and pummeled him mercilessly. When he stopped, he asked the guy if he wanted any more, he said no, and Bruce told him to get back up on the wall. Didn't have him fired, but put him in his place.
    When people say Bruce was "just an actor" they have no idea what they're talking about.

      yes, there are ALL kind of feints, misdirection and FALSE strikes in real gung-fu to increase the chances that your REAL strike will land on target. While this is similar to the jab in boxing, it's taken to a FAR higher level in real gung-fu.
      You can see this real gung-fu practitioner from this 1970's documentary doing the Back Groin Kick to the bag at the 2:46 mark that Bruce did to the guy in the last clip.

    Ohh wow, I'm amazed, when I already thought he was already fast enough, I would have never realized without this video that behind those seemingly simple fast moves of his were actually many hidden moves not visible at actual speed to the naked eye.
    Two word for you: Thank You
    One word for him: Breathtaking. I mean really.
    Those scenes here of his may just him acting, but acquiring such speed and being able to accomplish such feats are no tricks.
    If one amateur were to fight him, he would be lying on the ground unconscious within a few second without understanding why, the audience included. "What?... That dude just fell down with a single punch... lame" when he actually received many more of them and one kick. That reminds me of a scene in Dragon Ball (Not Z) in the Tenkaichi Budokai tournament between Goku and another contestant.

    I actually applaud UFC for giving so much props to Bruce in the new EA game and also the "I am bruce lee" documentary. Back then UFC fanboys would shit on Bruce all the time not realizing nearly all their favorite fighters looked up to him. In a match with rules Bruce may lose to some fighters. In a life or death street fight, bruce would clean up the whole house.

      Most of it anyway. I have Great Respect for Bruce Lee; but there are fighters out there, who rival him. I am aware that he had a good grappling game, as well; but I would love to see him on the ground with Royce Gracie, or Adolf Ernst (Aka Ad Santel) in their primes.

    • @yeon723
      @yeon723 10 років тому +8

      Johann Farmann-Katzer Right, but as I said in a match setting Royce would probably beat him if it was pure grappling. But if it was a street fight where anything goes, it's unlikely Bruce would even hit the floor and even if he did, eye jabs, biting, crotch attacks would make a lot of grapple moves obsolete.
      Try putting me in an armbar when I'm determined to rip flesh right off your leg. The strength he possessed was NOT normal for someone his size, and he knew the effectiveness of having a ground game and wrestling as he encountered grappling great Gene Lebell in the states prior to him going back to HK to become a star.

    I saw Bruce Lee in person in Washington DC in 1968 do his twenty minute demonstration. He was confident, charismatic, cocky (in a good way) and had everyone’s attention as he spoke to the crowd. He had the fastest hand speed I have ever seen. In a word he was everything you can imagine and then some. He was there as a guest of Jhoon Rhee for a National Karate Championship featuring Joe Lewis defending his heavyweight title. My friend and coworker Joe West talked me into attending the tournament. He was a student at one of the schools.

      There were special cameras, even in the 50's, that could catch Lee's actions. But they ran a 50,000 frames per second and were super expensive. Some were used during Hydrogen bomb tests in Slo-Mo to see the first few seconds of how the bomb exploded.

    • @daffidavit
      @daffidavit 8 років тому +2

      Check out the videos of the first H bomb tests. Also, check out the slo mo Saturn 5 engine burns. They used super fast film at super hi frame rates, even back in the day. They used cameras that were so fast, that only digital cameras of today are faster. Now they have cameras that can see bullets go through 2 inch steel at many thousands of frames per second, but they also had film cameras when testing the H bombs in the 1950's. They are on UA-cam if you search. They even tell you the frame rate. If I wasn't so tired, I hunt down the link for you.

    • @Eyes-of-Horus
      @Eyes-of-Horus 6 років тому

      Film runs at 24 frames per second (fps). That is going to make any fast movement appear blurry or jerky. At 30 fps and up to 60 fps fast movements would appear more smooth and a lot less blurred because it is at the speed that the human eye is able to process information. Doug Trumbull (a film director and SFX supervisor) had figured this out and created a movie process called "Showscan" and patented the speeds from 30 to 60 fps. For many years his demonstration of Showscan, showing at 60 fps had been seen in Las Vegas at the Luxor.

    I am one of those ex- boxers who laughed a Bruce Lee's ability. I was sure that one well placed left hook would ground Bruce and he wouldn't be getting up. Then I started studying his moves and tactics.
    I am a fool.
    Bruce Lee was three moves ahead of anything you threw at him. Every defensive move he used incorporated an offensive reaction. Add that to the speed and precision of his tactics and you have a guy that was almost unbeatable. People say size matters in fighting. Those same people have never studied Royce Gracie.
    So I look back and realize that my left hook was not the best, but a very decent one. After years of research I now know that my left hook didn't matter. I would have never landed it.
    Make no mistake, Bruce Lee was in fact "That good". And when I hear people like MJW say they could beat Bruce Lee, I have to laugh.

Bruce accidentally whopped Jackie in the head with a stick in one scene but being a professional actor he acted like nothing happened and finished the scene, but when the director shouted CUT! Bruce dropped his sticks and ran over there, real sorry for the accidental blow. Old skool) it always amazed me how fast he could move. If I can make a slight comparison between Bruce Lee and a basketball player I would have to say Hakeem Olajuwon is the best choice. Both offensively would throw you off guard, Bruce with his feints and block removers and Hakeem with his dream shakes and post play. Defensively Bruce was extremely agile and clever when it came to getting the best of his opponent, timing the movement from a strike and countering, and Hakeem ... Well this guy would lock you down on defence! Block shot and steal ball! Simply amazing athletes and people. R.I.P Bruce

    This global phenomenon called Bruce Lee within 33 years of age managed to build himself up to the level of a philosopher , a master of martial arts and became an actor ! He also was a great dancer , he was the guy responsible for the worldwide free spreading of the Asian knowledge of martial arts and he was battling with a spine injury for the last years of his life . He wasn't just fast , we were too slow for him . He died in 1973 and still to this day there is no one to go as close to Bruce as DK Yoo from Korea ! The same things everybody said about Bruce Lee since his death , they also said about DK Yoo , that he never fought with someone , he just does presentations etc etc ... Yeah and whoever has eyes and brains understands that both Bruce and DK are the real deal .

    I always will respect the qualities that Bruce Lee was endowed with. a lot of people forget that Bruce Lee was truly the real deal Holyfield. he was a tactician and architec that engineered a new system of martial arts with in that old system . He never went around Proclaiming that he was unbeatable or the greatest of all times. he simply wanted to tear down a very racial and biased control societies. It ridiculed the Asian world n Chinese Culture. Martial arts became the tool that he utilized to bring his vision into a more racial acceptance into the American society and also around the world. We have to remember and never aloud the naysayers and hypocrites to poison our mines about him. His only mission in life was, to tear down that border and a invisible boundary. he utilize also how to use the right supplements to refuel and build your body to be able to achieve victory and excellence to reach for your own majestic glory. He said it the best that, " I cannot teach you, I only can help you to explore yourself". Just look around at popular pop culture of all the martial arts movies from the Shaw Brothers and others alike out there. they would have never been able to get that wide range of international support and marketing. For he became the living representation of endorsement and help marketed at the time that was definitely segregated. He had that spirit that capture you that made you drop and stop what you doing. He punch you can say lol, the world to the solar plex and we are still feeling that blow. truly one of the most iconic man of the 20th century. for he accomplished all of this within the short and limited time when he was alive. remember he was only 32 years old when he passed away. That is to me the definition and the embodiment of a Grandmaster. He will never be forgotten. ~RIP to Bruce Lee~

      Southern Cross he did walk around and said that he was unbeatable. There was also a scene in his movie, "Dragon, the Bruce Lee Story" He said that he could beat any man in 60 seconds or less. And he did say that. And the movie was commissioned by his family. And he was beaten. He lost to Jack Man Wong years ago. But, dont say that im a hater. I am Bruce Lees biggest fan. But, to say that he was humble was not true. He was the cockiest bastard out there. In his interview, he even said that, if he could put on a show, and not be cocky. and to truly express himself. Was very hard to do. What he meant was, he couldnt do it without being cocky....And to be honest...He was cocky, and I believed every word he said....

      indra kortua is this your attempt to start some controversy or do you like to throw a little bit of Anarchy into the mix and see what happens? if so that's all good but it will be nice to finally hear somebody admit that's what they're doing. We all have the right to say what we want to say but I know we have people out there who love to start controversy and through anarchy into the equation.

    • @supermario7313
      @supermario7313 9 років тому

      I am not trying to start controversy. These things did happen. And so there is no anarchy here. All of which I said was true. If I was here to stir trouble, I would admit it. But, what is there to admit if Im not here to cause trouble? Lots of people cannot admit the fact that Bruce Lee lost. Or that he was cocky. Or that he couldnt control his big head. They couldnt admit this because they are his number one fans. I am his number one fan as well. However, I will be the first to admit that he did lose. He does have a big head. He is cocky. And he cannot contain himself when it comes to showing off. But, I will also admit, that he is still number 1. Some of the best, lose all the time. Michael Jordon didnt win all the time. Mohammed Ali didnt either. Neither did Pete Sampras, Tiger Woods, Larry Bird, Manny Pacqiao, Peyton Manning, etc, etc. Some people may not consider some of the people I mention, as being the best of the best. However, if everybody has lost one time or another, then who is the best? But, getting back to Bruce Lee, make no mistake that he did lose. There is evidence in his book. There is evidence in his movie, which was commissioned by his family. And there bits of evidence here and there. Do your research and you will find this stuff. But, of course, nobody would do all these tedious research unless, they were "Bruce Lee's Number 1 Fan."

      indra kortua I still like to remind people that , Bruce Lee was 32 years old when he died. How many people do we know personally accomplish a lot of goals that he did when they were 32 or even before they turn 30? Nobody is perfect and there always will be something that somebody is going to find to use against you. That is a promise. I'm the kind of person I can over look certain things that, do not hold weight to a snowflake if you know what I mean lol? It is a price that you must pay if you do become famous because, once you build a person up then you must destroy them. that is how the media operates as long as you can get the scoop and make that money, they do not care who they crucify. Kareem Abdul Jabbar say something that made a lot of sense when he starred in Game of Death. He mention that a lot of people do not truly understand how young Bruce Lee really was it this time. his accomplishments and the things that he did was, revolutionary. Not too many people had the knowledge or the wisdom and philosophy he already had at such a young age. I was raised by a philosophy of growing up in the 80's called, if a person has nine bad qualities but one good focus on that one. But in Bruce Lee's case he had 9 good quality so why even focus on that one bad? I will say it again the man was only 32 years old and didn't have anybody pretty much at that time to look up to to establish anything or a rock solid foundation. basically he gave us the foundation to build many things upon which we have done over the last 40 years. We live in the age now will we understand bodybuilding vitamin shops / GNC's. Different martial art associations even down to UFC has all been credited for becoming popular because of one man. I'm sure somebody else out there probably would have came along and may have accomplished something here or there but, even some of those people admit it's because of Bruce Lee contribution in establishing the foundation, most things were able to make it to the surface. To the point that now even on a subconscious level you are not even aware that you've been influenced by him. I study history and I know the facts and also know that it will always be people out there who find that one negative thing to use against somebody. But at 32 years old he accomplished something that a lot of men even by the time they get probably 62, can only hope and wish for which is fulfill whatever your destiny maybe. to go after it with the utmost courage and to not let anybody tell you it is impossible. To me that's what gives him the title are modern Grandmaster.

      I understand that you wanna focus on the good and not the bad. I was not trying to draw attention to all that is bad. I am a "you get what you see" type of guy. If he did 10 good things, then he did 10 good things. If there was also one bad in there, then there was one bad in there. Alot of fans dont want people to mention that this person was not perfect. They dont like to think that he lost. Or was a trouble maker. Or anything like that. Im sure he had his ups and downs. But, that doesnt make me any less a fan. I am still fascinated with the guy, despite the fact that he died over 40 years ago.....

      Camera has to slow down for Jet Li too. Jet Li won't stand a chance in the UFC. There's a big big big difference between real vs not-real fights. In real fights, the uncertainty and scariness factor are what make you hesitate, freeze, and consequently slow.

    • @spandaniel
      @spandaniel 10 років тому +1

      jet li wouldn't stand a chance in UFC because his techniques don't work in close quarters. He has enough experience to manage uncertainty. But when someone has him in guard and is setting up one of 1,455,820 arm bars, he would be loath to stop them.

      ***** They often had to re-shoot a lot of his fights because he simply moved too fast for the camera to capture his movements and strikes, and it looked like people were falling for no reason. For the Green Hornet TV series, especially, since Kato wasn't supposed to have "supernatural powers".

(am I saying that right, his chi?). I wouldn't see the move, i'd just hear him yell and the opponent flying off into the distance. I've seen it before, but only after I watched it in slow motion. After that I incorporated it into my boxing strategy. Bruce Lee was so fast that he had to slow his movements down during the filming of The Green Hornet, because he was too fast for the camera. If only 1080 p existed during his lifetime. But don't wait for that day, because it ain't never gonna happen. The onliest thing we can do, is wonder and imagine.

My eyes didn't even see the first feint and that now tells me how incredible his speed is now proven. The naked eye cant even detect that first feint. All I can say now from back in 1973 that his speed was beyond everyone else''s then and currently now.
