- Four years since the last one which is kinda crazeeey. Updated this mostly for my portfolio because it's more of the stronger sequences I've made but the old one is just like.. old and could be better so I wanted to mess around a little. Anyway enjoy Ashfur getting bludgeoned

i love how holly's claws gets stuck on the tree. it shows how reckless and angry she is
LOVE the perspective of Holly concentrating on her speed to catch up with Ash - like 'fuck it, no matter how i feel about them i'm calling on my windclan genes right now". she feels so powerful
oh, i LOVE the idea that ashfur’s murder wasn’t quick - i love the idea that he ran and she chased him. That’s haunting.
for her first strike to be enough to break his jaw, induce brain trauma, AND to kill him, it really sets the urgency of the entire scene
I think I said this on the original but I’ll say it again, half-windclan hollyleaf running faster than thunderclan ashfur gets me every time.
Love this take; Holly was enraged, broken, over the whole fiasco and it really shows here. I will always remember the scene where she catches a mouse and turns it into a bloody pulp because she’s so angry.
Yesss that’s one of my favorite scenes in PO3 and it’s so criminally underrated, I wish there were pmvs or maps that included it because it really showed just how clouded her judgement was with fury
I still love that Holly chases Ashfur down. It’s such a unique way of portraying their confrontation and having Holly’s growing rage at him
Ugh I so love the attention to small details in this-- like the frame at 1:18 where the jaw is broken and his pupils are different sizes really shows the sheer impact she had with the first strike, and the hesitation at the end where holly has her 'oh my god i really just did that' moment. very well done
The original animatic has been a huge inspiration for me for YEARS, so this was an absolute treat to witness. I love how Ashfur's face was never shown after Hollyleaf beats it in, really leaving it up to the imagination of the audience as to how fucked up it looked in the aftermath
I like how you didn’t make her immediately kill Ashfur and showed him actually trying to defend himself and escape, I don’t see many animations do that. Amazing work!
I think because in the books it states that it was a fast dead, where Ashfur didn't fight back (I could be wrong though) but it's still really cool to see more creative interpretations.

the original is probably one of my favorite warrior cats animations ive seen and this blows it out of the water its so horrific in the best possible way. Theres so much anger in hollys actions and the fact the body isnt shown in full is so scary because now i have to imagine it.

ugh DUDE I already loved the original but there's so much more dynamism and intensity in the shots now, that chase scene feels so frantic and violent. loooove it
This gave me SHIVERS. This is the most violent interpretation of Ashfur's death I've ever seen, it's fantastic.
im losing my fucking MARBLES the old one was my all time favorite depiction of ashfur's death and to see it remade in such detail is the highlight of my YEAR . the improvement in your perspective and every shot placement is so very clear... the fact that you don't see his face afterwards is such a nice detail. makes me feel like holly couldn't bare to look at him afterwards, especially xonsidering how intense her expressions were after realizing what she'd done ... FUCK. SO GOOD SO GOOD SOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!!

Oh woaah I have. Never ever seen a depiction of this scene quite as just plain BRUTAL or intense as this.. the mounting rage and violence is insane, as is the pacing and shot choice, this is by far the best version of this scene I think I’ve seen…. And the panning up to the stars at the end… they alone bear witness to this .. I mean even we as the audience don’t see the full extent of her brutality. … MAN… really really cool stuff. Woah.
This is just such an interesting take on the murder which I feel like is usually framed as a very quick thing where maybe ashfur didn’t even know who killed him. This is just so much more visceral!
I love the transition of the horror on Holly’s face, then the pure disgust and anger as it comes back to her, as if she was still looking at Ashfur and she knew her intentions. For now she does, and she’s just tangled up with anger. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!
I don’t think I’ve *ever* had such chills watching an *animatic* before… I can’t even express my emotion and feelings it was so shocking and incredible…
The perspective shots are something I strive to perfect! This gives me inspiration to practice and make a cool ass animatic like this of my ocs! I love this and I'm definitely such a fan of your art!!!!!!
Oh my god WOWWWWWW. this is nuts. The way you capture the movement and sheer FORCE of Hollyleaf's blows is actually incredible. Especially when she gets her claws stuck in the tree, and she fully just flails and yanks like she truly in that moment can think of nothing but reaching Ashfur and doing him in. Also it harkens back to the fact Ashfur is an older, more experienced warrior-- and so letting him get away for a bit due to Holly's recklessness really portrays just how determined she is to keep pursuing him- even after he's able to kick her off and keep running for a bit. And also, the scale of the environment and the whole continuity in the scene has SUPER improved. Kickass animatic :)
so your OG have it out animatic was one of the reasons I started animating for the fandom... this remake is so awesome and nostalgic to see

GOOD LORD. i was open mouthed the entire time watching this the movements + composition are so so good im going to be watching this on repeat. The details + the struggle Hollyleaf has really adds to that final kill, absolutely breathtaking work!!!

Edit: also, love how you decided not to show his face in this version! Really makes the murder feel way more violent than it probably was, and it leaves the injuries up to the viewer’s interpretation. Literally saving this in a playlist to study the shots, this is sooo useful for learning how to storyboard and have characters act things out interestingly!
I remember thinking the original was insane when you made it. Holy moly this improvement is striking!!! This is definitely a professional portfolio piece. I love how you changed the ending to be less focused on the graphic scene of Ashfur's body and made it more solemn and reflective on Hollyleaf's processing what she's done. Great work!!!!!
I love this so much. How you showed how angry she is by the way she brutally mauled Ashfur to death. The way she looked uncertain on what to do next after she kills him. She realizes what she has done after the blind rage, and wonders what's gonna happen to her next, scared how she has broken the same code she valued so much. Such a beautiful animatic!

CAMERON!!! Oh my gosh this came out incredible!! Your original animatic is one of my favorites and I always once in awhile go to rewatch it, I didn't know it can get better but here is this, and it's clear how much you improved!!! The action and use of the scene environment is much stronger and well executed, the character models/ designs have such stronger silhouettes and fur dynamics, and the overall pacing and use of camera movement is incredible. Amazing work as always!

The original was already so impactful, but DAMN this shows your improvement! The choice of much more varied, alternating shots with different kinds of framing that feels absolutely SEAMLESS from one scene to the next! The action feels RAW. Hollyleaf being like a powerful, unstoppable force is such a good choice and overall you can FEEL the impact of everything. It is goddamn amazing!
Not only did you do a great job at the animation and shots but also all the character acting! As many have said in the comments already, I love the subtle details like her claws stuck in the tree - showing with how much strength she slams her claws around! The expressions, the character acting - simply gorgeous! That's a great Animatic and it's definitely something you can be very proud of!

I come back to the original a lot as a storyboarding reference because it was just so impressive and this rework has completely knocked it out of the park. The choreography on the scuffle/chase is so well done and the camera angles really heighten how like, Frantic the scene is!

Wonderful!! Great pacing and linking to the lyrics. I love that you let Holly have trouble catching him at first because other PMV's made it look too easy. Clear expressions and smooth movements despite the low frame rate. And gorgeous yet simplistic background. All and all 100/100 from you're local PMV cynosure. 🎉🎉🎉

I discovered this fabulous song with your last animatic,it was a big part of my adolescence and still is,hollyleaf's facial expression and mannerism really show the crepiness of her action,i nearly never see that in amvs or pmvs,they always make her look sad or look like the murder wasn't of her own will,i'm far from an ashfur apologist but ppl are too scared to show holly like that on their animatic because since she's a pretty interesting character they don't want to make her look "evil" even tho she was never really a good person(the fact that she tried to kill her own mother because of the équivalent of a religious psychosis in the wc world proves that she didn' just snap out of her control with aschfur and actually wanted to hurt all the ppl involved innocent or not)i honestly really dislike hollyleaf but at the end she's neither good nor bad she's just a morally grey character,as for ashfur,idk,he was defo mentally ill and that made him really dangerous,but after he posessed bramble he was evil af(just a glimpse of my opinion).btw the shot of ashfur getting hit in the head for the first time is chilling,showing that she expected her first hit to be the one who'll seal the deal of if he was gonna make it out alive or not(if she hadn't continued to hit he xould have prob been severly disabled from that first punch),most ppl just show it as if she just slashed his neck and killed him instantinally (really unrealistic),i also really love the designs,each character as their own face structure (holly having big close eyes with no eyebrows for exemple is genius for the creepy factor) plus you didn't gave her lashes or made her look too stereotipically feminine (disney take note) wich i strongly appreciate,also her struggling to get her paws out of the plants as she was an inexpérienced and panicked warrior is chef kiss,so yeah sorry if this comment was long,it's just that even tho the last version was good this one is even better,idek how you better in the first place!keep posting stuffs like this!i hope you'll get the numbers of recognition you'll deserve !(Those warriors cats amvs/animatics make me sad because it's what adult/mature intended animation could be if they hired ppl with real talent and who don't think swearing, unnecessary violence and nudity make a good and inspiring thing to watch for ppl over 12,at least we got arcane but there's still not enough non realistic animated art pieces who take itself seriously)

I was already obsessed with the original animatic, but man, have you managed to improve so much on it with this new version. I love how much your art style has evolved over the years and the new direction you went with this scene. The shot where Hollyleaf's claws get caught in the bark along with the first person POV shot of Hollyleaf running up to attack Ashfur are some of my favourite shots in this animatic and also how she violently smashes Ashfur's head into the rocks is just so well done Amazing work! 👏

I love how much the camera shots have improved, the old one was great but it really pushes us in Hollyleaf's shoes (or paws?) when she is chasing Ashfur down, also it feels so STRONG when she hits his head over and over again in this one

dude i’m so late to this but this is such a vast improvement from the OG from a couple years back. i loved the OG, but i absolutely adore this. i love how you capture holly’s sheer rage in this, and especially showing how even after hollyleaf kills ashfur with seemingly one blow, she still beats his skull in afterwards and in the end is literally covered in his blood. i feel like most animations don’t capture this sort of anger that holly harbored towards ash. she was PISSED in the books. there’s so many details i want to highlight but this comment would be too long. great job!

i never would have thought that one of my favorite animatics would get a remake!! it's just nice to see a scene as important as this one be given more depth, and have hollyleaf's thought process be shown and not told

The changes are amazing! This one feels a little more realistic too! Like Hollyleaf getting her claw stuck, instead of throwing him in the water she catches up to him and pulls his tail, and him actually escaping her a few times.

Despite my love to the old animatic, I find this one much better. It came with more dinamycs and tension between characters and their expressions. Perspective in camera shots became so much better too. I literally cried watching this, your improvement is crazy

I loved the orginal pmv, and i love the current one even more. You can tell by the animation that you've improved greatly and added more depth into the animation along with the protrayal of the chatacters.
