Really nice design. I'm really new to this and making basic stuff. This might be a bit much for me now but I definitely will try eventually. I'm a disabled vet and this is my mental health stuff, surprisingly helps me a lot. I'm making gifts so I think a few friends would love something like this.
That's awesome, I've heard that It can help having something to focus on. I plan doing more videos and more patters(at all different skill levels). I will admit this pattern might be a little difficult if you are still honing in your skills. It's mostly just a lot of stitching. Also the one in this video was ordered as a gift for a friend of my client, so you have the right idea, it does make a great gift!
@@shorelineleather955 honestly I've only made like 6 or 7 things. The lighter cover is the best I've done. The wallets are trash. The process of cutting, stitching, all of the stuff up until the end I really like. Eventually it'll be a better thing when I'm done.
Wallets are tricky at first lots of planning, cutting, skiving, and stitching. My first one was THICK 😅 I bought all the wrong leather and didn't skive anything. Leather work requires a lot of trial and error!
Fantastic work, thank you so much for sharing. Love the design and will be making this myself for a friend - already laundered my socks ;). Thanks again, very much appreciate your hard work :)
This is awesome! I’m beginner level and yep this is definitely above my pay grade at the moment but it’s goals for sure. Hey can you do a video on how to get the right measurements to make a pattern like this? I can’t seem to find anyone sharing the thought process and that would be beneficial in making anything. I’ve tried to figure it out and my measurements are either too much allowance or not enough. What’s the sweet spot? Thank you
@TexanRayne a lot of it really is trial and error. Just remember to big is better than to small. If it's a card pocket 3/16th or 1/4 Inch on all sides is a good tolerance. A good rule of thumb would be to stack up as much as you can that would be the most you'd ever put in that pocket measure the height add 1/16th and use that measurement as your tolerance. I have not made a video in quite some time, I am not set up for it anymore. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask me more questions if you have any.
I have a question can I punch out the stitch holes before cutting I don’t have The experience to freehand the stitch holes I always use a stitche hole guide with the pattern I have little experience in working with leather but this pattern is a A little intimidating.
Yes you should be able to I took a lot of extra time to try and align the holes perfectly from one panel to the next, if you are unsure you can cut out the pattern and hold it up to a light and see if the holes match up. I will admit that this is not the most beginner friendly pattern. Make sure you use the same leather thickness that is stated in the pattern, if not then the holes on the outer panel might not line up. But that can still work if you build the whole inside first with all the holes punched. Then close it with all the contents(notebooks) inside and wrap your outer panel around the note book center section and mark/glue it. After this you can lay it flat and set you punch in the holes you made on the center section all the way through to the outside. If you use the right leather thickness this step can be avoided. Just be sure to be very straight or your stitch line will look crooked. Let me know if you have any questions about this hopefully you can understand what I'm trying to say.
@@shorelineleather955 yes I did see, however, it does not have the same features as the smaller version. Do let us know if you ever release a full size version! 🤓👍
I'm not sure what you mean🤔 like have a note book and a Bible? If so the pen location would not work because of the thickness of the bible, and you would also need to find the perfect size notebook, great idea though! I'll keep thinking on it
I have been meaning to make more, I have a feeling the leatherwork will be a winter hobby for me. I seem to never have enough time in the summer because I am off doing other things. I have recorded 2 other videos, one product highlight and another how to style video. I appreciate you reminding me and maybe it will motivate me to sit down and edit the footage finally.
It's been a while I know... I belive I did video 1 or 2 other videos but u rand out of storage to edit them, I might go back and see if I can find them. I have a small project coming up, maybe I'll video that to ease back into it. I appreciate the interest, it means a lot
I did have about 4 hours worth of footage that I needed to condense down. I know for sure some processes might not have made the cut. Is there anything you needed help with?
I'm sorry you feel this way but this is a the benefit of doing digitally. If I sold a hard copy you would only have 1, so if it got ruined or lost you would have to buy another, this way you can just print another one.
Whoever made this, take a bow.
Hold the applause 👏 jk thank you!

Nicely done! Love the pen holder design. Thanks for sharing your work!
Thank you, I appreciate it, I look forward to sharing more of my work 😁
Beautiful color combinations and beautiful work!!
Thank you so much!
I really like the design and would definately try to do it
Give it a go!
Beautiful piece of work
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Very good work on putting this together--camera work included.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, it was my first time making a video, I appreciate the feedback!

Awesome! Let me know how you liked the pattern when it's all finished, I'd love to see how it turns out!

Very cool
Thank you😊
Is it possible to scale the pattern larger in printer settings to get a full size legal pad portfolio? Love this design!
@Calypso3 Thank you! I do have a full size legal pattern available on my website shorelineleather.com
@@shorelineleather955 yes I did see, however, it does not have the same features as the smaller version. Do let us know if you ever release a full size version! 🤓👍
Would love to see more projects from you. You have some good tips and tricks in this build
@Calypso3 I'd love to make more videos too, maybe one day
Where did you get the discs?
@rogerkuiken5611 saddle hills leather craft on etsy I believe. They have been very handy
Thank you!
Can you crest this same design for a bible cover?

Yes, that’s exactly what I meant. Some like to take notes during a sermon and it would be great to have a notepad handy.
Hey brother, I haven't seen you post anything in a while. I hope all is well in your world. I look forward to your next video.

🤩
Super design, though I'm struggling to comprehend the reasoning behind the hidden photo slot.
Thank you. The photo slot is just there to personalize it. It does need to be there but it was part of the n the pattern
Loved your videos. You kinda fell off the planet. Would love to see a new video.

Nice project. I'm making one. It looks like you skipped showing stitching the pen holder once you glued it down
I did have about 4 hours worth of footage that I needed to condense down. I know for sure some processes might not have made the cut. Is there anything you needed help with?
I'd buy some if you made and sold them. I won't pay you money to print things out at my own expense though.

Isn't buying something done at your own expense?
