    Have you tested the htx2's? How do they compare?

    As much as would love to support Australian companies, it's the price thing. Had my king's 9inch spotties and 42inch light bar on full noise last night heading to my camping destination. They work great and clearly see Skippy on side of the road. Had them for over 6 year's.
    Oh and happy 50th birthday 🎂

    Great review, you echoed my thoughts on their performance exactly having just upgraded(only just) myself to these from previous Lightforce LED215SD light purchased in 2018. The Beast lights are better, but I don't think I would of bought them if I could of tried them first. I only run them in beast mode (as this is the default if you use a standard heavy duty harness, my Beasts pull 26.6amps @ 13.93volts) and I feel they don't project any further down the road then the LED215SD (which are very good already), the Beasts do spread the light wider and more evenly, which is more important to me. The colour temp of the Beasts are whiter and as a result more gentler on the eyes from the road sign reflections. I also thought the mounting system appeared to be a step backward from the previous big stainless brackets of the LED215SD's, time will tell with this one. Overall I was expecting more from the $1200 cost to upgrade... If I had no spots previously they may worth the investment from the quality, warranty and Australian made perspective. I was also disappointed that Lightforce don't have the install instructions on the their website, presumably to make you think you need to buy their harness to make them work,(which you do if you want to switch modes, however I don't), full power to all of the light all of the time is what I want when they are on. On a side note the still perfectly good 6 year old LED215SD's can now go on the second car. Cheers.

      This is exactly how I run mine. Full power when they're on. The 3 modes I found a bit gimmicky.

      Yeah will be. But I'd still like to add a big one up on the roof platform when I get around to it. Not needed though.

    The light output looks great, nice and even, I'm really surprised by the mounting system, I don't like the plastic base, this is a definite weak point the indentations surely will get damaged on the plastic part with the pressure of the entire light on them bouncing around, If I had purchased them with a plastic bracket I would have sent them back, I always choose Aussie made over imported, but these are not for me because of that plastic bracket, I am very happy with my ALTIQ ROGUE 8.5" MK3, the mounting bracket is indestructible at 17mm thick Aluminium, and the light output is phenomenal, couple them with the spread covers and you get the best of both worlds, call the boys at Altiq for a lightbar, I'm sure they will be eager to look after you, after installing the Rogue MK III, I personally think lightbars are a thing of the past and just not required

      Those mounted at my least favourite part and I think it's hard not to be concerned. I have to think they know what they're doing though, surely. There are so many lights about right now, we're spoilt for choice. I'll suss out those light bars and thanks for the suggestion. Guess you made it to the end 😁 I agree, light bars might be less of a requirement these days....... but I still want one 😁 I'll let the angel and devil on my shoulders fight that one out.

    And lumins means nothing, it's lux and candella measured at a distance is what matters.
    Also it's not just plastic, it's fiber reinforced plastic, try breaking it, I bet you can't. Reason there is no rubber insulator is the lights won't be able to tighten down enough, aa the rubber drys out in the heat it shrinks and the lights will become loose. There is enough give in the "plastic" mounts to take care of it.

    I don't think that lightbar makes much of a difference now. They do throw a good light and have nice spread for sure, don't know I could justify the cost though, they are very pricey. I'll take the Lightfox ones off your hands though lmfao.

    • @DENMONKEY

      Pricey they are indeed. You don't turn 50 very often though. So it was a treat. You'll have to get in line ol boy for those other ones, lots of people putting their hands out for them. Looks like you've been doing alright on the freebies of late. New camper and all 😀

    I will guarantee you that that light is Chinese made. Most likely Chinese designed as well.

    • @DENMONKEY

      Whilst I would say some base components are likely sourced from China, like electronics for eg. Hard not to be these days. They do promote their products as Australian, designed, manufactured, and tested all in Australia. That said, I have no information that could either confirm or deny that claim. Id like to think it's true. I've got 1348 reasons to hope it is. .

    • @psmitchell
      @psmitchell 7 місяців тому

      @@DENMONKEY don’t get me wrong. I love Lightforce. I have them myself. I just know they source their product from China. These days there is good China and bad China for quality. Lightforce are thorough in making sure the product is quality and acceptable for Australian use. But to think you can come to Adelaide and see them being built in a factory like you do with Redarc products just isn’t true though.

      @psmitchell still Australian made mate, still made in Hindmarsh South Australia. All the driving lights are, ROKS and bars are what you just explained though.
