I’m usually a lurker but hot damn if this isn’t incredible. I’ve followed this channel for a while and this really blew me away, incredible work my dude.
Same, I found out Billy Cobb ever since him and Jane Reynolds worked together on a song. And I just love Billy Cobb’s music. Edit: They worked together on Hallow-Ween and IncelWeen, and Jane did a cover of 1955 (which is still like my favorite song, though I prefer Billy Cobb’s original version over the cover)
No exaggeration to say this is one of the most influential pieces music I'd ever heard in my life. Same goosebumps I felt when I first discovered Joanna Newsom, when I heard Opposite Sides of The Same Good Ol' Fence... I've been listening and will keep listening for a long long time. Thanks for sharing your art will all of us Billy
No words I say will even begin to do this EP justice, but I'll sure as hell try. I have never heard something with this much raw unfiltered emotion in my life. Every feeling is so flawlessly represented in music, from the angry gutiar solo to the saddening quire. 9/10 one of the best experimental EPs Ive ever heard.
This is bare. Rarely have I felt myself peering so directly into someone else when listening to music. Theres no artifice, just the beauty, fear, sadness and confusion that go along with experiencing a soul not one's own.
How is it that everything you've put out since Zerwee hits me right in the feels every time Your stuff is amazing, I just wish it didn't hit quite so hard
(Second time doing this comment since first one got shadow-deleted by UA-cam's filters due to having a link I think, sigh). I come back to this EP every now and then since it just comes to mind occasionally. I think that speaks to the impact this EP has had on me. One thing is the rawer sound (and also experimental nature), but I think the main thing that comes into my mind is the title “Who Shall Its Folds Divide”. Time and time again I’ve thought of that phrase, and then looked up this EP (pleasantly reuniting with the cover art + music). Every time though, I re-engage in a search for the source of the poem that provides the titles of the songs in the EP. The best I can find is that it seems like the full text of the poem appears in an obituary for a 19th century Irish Methodist minister named Thomas George Crosbie. (I can’t link the page, but if you look up that name, the obituary should be the top result). The poem appears in the obituary in quotes: “True friendship is a Gordian knot, Which angel hands have tied, By heavenly skill its texture ’s wrought, Who shall its folds divide? In vain death’s all-triumphant sword, May strive the link to sever; The union of the twisted cord, In heaven shall last for ever.’ It's unclear from the obituary whether it was Crosbie, the obituary author (Isaac Septimus Nullis), or some other individual who wrote the poem. Whoever it was, I’m grateful they did, and I’m grateful Billy shared it with us. Beautiful words, from a time long ago.

man, what a journey this has to be as creative and raw as anything out there. even stick man loosing his partner. pieced together beautifully killer work
I feel a lot of youtube musicians are successful more because of their video making skills than their music skills. This is not the case. This is fucking incredible. Amazing job, dude. This is good music.
Listening to this, one word comes to mind. Sonder - The feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passed in the street, has a life as complex as one's own. It feels strange to listen to this, as I feel both out of place and welcomed, into the mind and suffering of another human being. The emotions presented are so, raw. This EP is a 14 minute journey through the epilogue of a dying relationship. From the desperation and resentment, to the self-hatred and guilt, it covers all of the feelings very accurately, or at least from my experiences. Overall, a very, very well executed piece, which is in no doubt highly emotionally driven. Also, the symbolism in the video adds another layer of melancholy. The timing of the right stick figure fading away is perfect. Great job Billy, and good luck, wishing you the best.
I quite enjoyed this ep, I liked the overall aesthetic and it had a very unique sound. It reminded me a lot of NMH, which is pretty cool. Overall I think you did a pretty good job Cobb me boy, remember to stay positive during the troubling times. dom out
I must admit, I was kinda confused by the first 2 songs, but I really liked the other 2! EDIT: After a second listen, I like the first 2 now. EDIT 2: This is the best EP you've ever made.
This is amazing. This is like if weezer did some adult swim bumper music, with ween pulling some production strings along with it. It takes me far away to a dim, mysterious but happy, uplifting place here in quarantine. Thank you for this again, billy, you truly are a work of art. And your works of art are always you❤
BPstuff nope. Watch Neon Genesis Evangelion then End of Evangelion. Eva Death (true) is recap of the show and there is a series of reboots called the rebuild movies but there aren’t on Netflix and aren’t as good
This is incredible. I adore this. I'm picking this EP up as soon as possible, it hits just about everything I love in music. It feels so inspired, but at the same time so original. Already I'm a huge fan of your music, and I just found your music today. You're an absolute madlad Billy Cobb.
I’m not sure if it’s just me, but I’m getting some major Twin Fantasy vibes from this. The way the instruments are used and the effects that are used in the music just have that Car Seat Headrest sound to it.
This dropped at 8am in the morning for me. Decided not to listen to the rest it until now after hearing the first song so I wasn’t depressed for the rest of the day. Really compelling and emotional. A brilliant EP and going straight to my playlist
This seems to be getting mixed response but this is one of my favorite pieces youve put out! i dont know your situation but from what these songs sound like, im in a similar spot and these songs are both heartbreaking but cathartic to hear. Great work dude
SPOILER ALERT: This EP has grown on me. Despite that, this very lengthy comment is not the insane praise that fellow comments lead you to believe. I am a staunch defender of Billy Cobb's music. Read this comment knowing that my opinions have shifted through an edit, and I hope that it changes more to the positive side over the course of several more listens. I have... feelings about this EP. For the longest time, the only EP I have heard from Billy Cobb was Post-Bedroom Pop. Then I saw a recommendation premier for Zerwee pt. 2, listened to all of his EPs (minus Dancing With The Lights Off, Trash, and the Christmas EP), then heard the album, listened to the Halloween series and unreleased 2015-2018. Very few projects that were mediocre (like Unreleased 2015-2018, Pretty Songs For Ugly People, Self-Titled, Dollar Store Diamonds, and maybe Valentines Day EP and Halloween I if I stretch far enough). Then I got word that a new EP would release tomorrow (today). The day passed, I forgot about it, then saw it in my recommended. I predict that is what will happen with this EP. I forget about it the next day, and get reminded of it later down the road, repeat. This feels like it would've been like a Frank Ocean 'Blonde' situation. Where fragments of songs that don't mean a lot by theirself, collect into something that turn into a cohesive experience. I feel the issue is that since this EP is, well, an EP, and basically can't be as cohesive as an album of almost an hour in length. My point is, if this just had either more material, or more time to flesh out, then it should have more rhyme or reason as an experience. All of these 4 songs sound the same to me. Slow parts, explosion, repeat (aside from By Heavenly Skill It's Texture Wrought). Nothing stands out. Not in a good way, and thankfully not in a bad way. It's listenable, but I'd rather listen to Zerwee (both parts), Too Rad To Be Sad, Post-Bedroom Pop, The Boro, maybe even the Christmas EP. Maybe this could grow on me, maybe it's a prototype of the cohesive album similar to this that i have mentioned several times here. 5-6/10. Again, very few mediocre projects in his discography. At least this year we got Zerwee pt. 2, his best album (I have not listened to Abstract, The Void, or Strokes Of Incarceration), and an experiment that needs more guidance in the future, if experimented again. If it does grow on me, I will edit this comment (if I remember), but it just feels like a mere footnote in this discography so far. But so does others, but at least they have tracks that I love, or even remember. EDIT: Yeah, I'm already making an edit on my second listen. Now my only major complaint are the explosions being kinda pointless (for lack of a better word), and really feel like a pallet cleanser for the beautiful slower moments. Still though, I don't listen to this like thinking 'Oh, here is Which Angel Hands Have Tied, here's the title track' in the same way I listen to Zerwee (pt. 1) and think 'Oh, here's Shell Shack, here's She Doesn't Love Me, here's 1955'. Now a new positive I have for it (which was originally a negative) is that it feels like an EP instead of a collection of track, like Zerwee, like The Boro, like Too Rad To Be Sad. I think it was a negative because it felt like an EP, and the EP wasn't that good, and now I think it is better than before, and feels like it is less of a footnote than before. Still not a single mediocre project in his discography. It's shocking that someone with such a low profile like this holds a discography quality like this. Just wow. Now it's like a 6.5-7/10. (Also, I'm editing this comment on my computer, while I made the) first part on my phone, and now I'm realizing just how much I typed, especially since this is the only 'long' (like, long long) comment here. Sorry for that)
Then I hear like, Wilco, Radiohead, Weezer, and then it sounds like Kraftwerk or Manuel Gottsching or something, then like TWIABP, and Sufjan Stevens and Daughters. It sounds like stuff I like, and I think everyone thinking it sounds like all their favorite bands is so cool. Also if people like the second song they'd probably like the brave little abacus.
This is so cool Also hope that everyone is safe and doing well Also also, I just noticed that the background gradually changes and that makes this whole thing have another layer of sad
As a Weezer fan I'm required to hate the EP, seeing as he tried something new
