- Single use plastic is a major cause of concern for the world today. India has taken several initiatives to tackle the problem caused hy single use plastic and management of plastic waste. In this episode we will discuss and analyse the challenges and solutions for this problem.

Plastic is not the problem but our habits are.
So let’s use plastic wisely and reuse it.
why plastic is dangerous?
1. it is a blot on the landscape
2. it reduces hygiene
3. it reduces fertility of the soil, is a cause of flood and prevents seepage of water.
4. Dangerous for the health of people.
There is a need to generate awareness among people and all the stakeholders involved about these hazards of plastic.
Need to control irresponsible disposal of plastic.
promotion of reduce, refuse, reuse and recycling of plastic.
circular economy to be encouraged where plastic is made to be reused.
effective alternative solutions through innovation for packaging where plastic is being used.
Need to think about alternative livelihoods for people supplying plastic, if we are determined to eliminate single use plastic.
Country will save a huge amount of money if we shift from plastic to environmental friendly options.
Life cycle as well as value chain of plastic needs to be examined, plastic is a hydrocarbon which can be produced by capturing the carbon dioxide and methane from the atmosphere rather than using petroleum for producing plastic.
Plastics can be reused reused plastic can be shredded and then this shredded plastic can be used in 3d printing technology.
Plastics are extremely useful in healthcare.
there are ways by which mortality of plastic and plastic like material can be reduced, like for example introduction of bio-plastic.
Through pyrolysis we can melt plastic to form petrol, and the methane formed in the process can be used as energy for sustaining the systems, because there is a limit to the number of times recycling can be done.
Companies should not only look at cost of the product to their company but also the cost of the product to the environment.

plastic has become as a part of our life at every point we use plastic, as for manufacturing of goods and medical sector etc. although we know very well the negative impact of plastic on our environment and ecology which directly or indirectly effect human life. single use plastic which effect soil fertility, cause blockage in sewage and while burning it release high toxic gas. we need alternative of plastic which totally replace single use plastic and also we need to change human temperament related to use of plastic, like we can use our clothes or jute bag for carrying any kind of goods and we can move toward Pyrolysis process where we convert plastic to fuel and for use of plastic in road construction.
Yeah that's quite good alternatives are given by respective panelist but I would like we should more explore the idea what vashney sir mentioned about melting of plastic again and again and use it further ..

This episode should be much longer..Why this anchor keeps interrupting the panelists by saying 'okay' 'okay' all the time ? This is very irritating and hampers my concentration and Prof. Varshney had some very important points to make but he couldn't finish it due to lack of time..Next time at least let the panelists finish their answers..It was a good discussion but it could have been better and that's why I'm a little disappointed..
Because there is limited time given for a particular debate or discussion and every panelist has to be given a fair and equal chance to speak 🙂

Prof has spoken for 5-6 minutes at a stretch. He has experience so he can guide us whole day but other panellists are also there for a reason.
