- This week’s live session is going to be another on colour, using the chromamagic app to find out what those colours really are!
Our subject this week is going to give us a range of orange and orange-reds to play with.
There are some tricky colours here, too, that might seem easy but generally aren’t: The pith, and the area around the outside edge of the half orange, where the light travels through it a little, just like it does with human skin.
We’re going to nail those colours!
Because there is also a lot of light reflecting of a very high chroma object, there is also a lot of orange-coloured light bouncing onto the back wall and the cloth, so we also get to play with reflected light. It’s subtle, but it’s there. The trick is not to overstate it.
The app I use to investigate the colour is called ChromaMagic. You can find it on the Apple and Google Play stores, and there is also a Windows version. It's very inexpensive and extremely useful!
You can get the Munsell value scale - which allows you to translate values from the app directly to your painting - from Paul Centore on Ebay here, also very inexpensive: www.ebay.com/i...

Fantastic! Thank you, Paul.
I've had the old Holland white for a while now.The paint all around the edges that's touching the inside of the pot is hard and unusable. So were getting less paint than we think.
Wish you did motorbikes :) Only kidding Paul. Nice oranges.
Maybe one day. Have you seen Scott Conary's motorbike paintings?
@@PaulFoxton No i haven't. Thankyou for this. He is amazing from what i've briefly just seen. Pushing the boundary of what can be acheived.
