The decline of the tramways system began in the 1930s, and ended with the retirement of the service in 1960 in parallel to the closure of many such systems in France and the rest of the world. However, a strategic reconsideration of the city's public transport requirements led to the reconstruction of the system, a development whose success led to other large French cities reopening their tramways, such as Montpellier and Nice. Lines A and D were opened in 1994, lines B and C were opened in 2000, line E was opened in 2007 and line F was opened in 2010. It is regarded as a remarkable example of the tramway's rebirth in the 1990s. Together with the success seen in Nantes since 1985, the Strasbourg experiment resulted in the construction of tramways in multiple other French urban areas, and the expansion of tramway systems remains an ongoing project in Strasbourg and throughout France.

For me, the tram and the subway are the fastest means of transport in a city, since buses are subject to practically the same traffic rules as cars and much better for the environment.
Trams is a convenient and environmentally friendly transportation vehicle, at Paris Trams it also runs on green grass with a dashing and stylish.
These are beautiful. Great network too. Strasbourg looks wonderful. It's definitely high on my list of places to visit.

Beautiful trams, mainly this first type from 90s (with big windows and one-piece doors) looks much better than new type. It's my favourite design of tram! Greetings from Prague, CZE. :)

@@walterlampert1753 London now wants to price poor people off the roads again by introducing yet another charge for driving older cars. Those who can afford to pay this charge and can afford to buy newer cars are allowed to drive around while those who can't have to use buses or pay the charge.
@@walterlampert1753 London is now focusing on cycling in order to solve the problem of air pollution, yes cycling. Plumbers, builders, heavy goods delivery etc will all need to buy bikes in order to get around London. Trams are too costly and challenging so better to focus on cycling in London.
Oh no, these trams are so slow and expensive. When I lived in Strasbourg I had to resort to buying a bicycle!!

Ceux qui habitent Strasbourg, petite question... J'ai appris qu'il y a maintenant une nouvelle ligne de tram vers l'Allemagne. Est-ce que cette nouvelle ligne est devenue populaire parmi la population? Est-ce que beaucoup de gens l'utilisent?
La ligne en soit n'est pas nouvelle, c'est la D. Celle-ci a cependant été étendue pour passer la frontière. On parle là d'une extension de 2 stations (4 dans le futur avec des stations qui ne sont pas encore desservies). En soit la destination de Kehl est depuis toujours populaire donc bien évidemment, le tramway avait toutes ses raisons de s'y rendre (sachant de plus que l'ancien tramway de Strasbourg des années 1900 avait sa ligne 1 qui passait la frontière). Maintenant que l'extension jusqu'à l'entrée de Kehl est effectuée, oui la ligne D est plus fréquentée et la station Kehl-Bahnhof voit passer énormément de passagers (bien qu'en bout de ligne): je passe des fois devant l'ancien terminus et je vois que les tramways vers Kehl sont souvent très remplis avec même des usagers debout. Beaucoup d'habitant réclament d'ailleurs qu'il n'y ai plus seulement 1 tram sur 2 qui traverse la frontière (1/2 s'arrêtant à la station française qui précède le terminus en Allemagne, pourtant à peu de mètres).
