My First Mallakhamb National March 2024

My first Mallakhamb National Championship, representing Maharashtra :)
It all started with me getting selected for national 2024
Part of the Maharashtra team, with teammates sweet to the core
I guess I could say my hard work paid off
I did 5 hours of practice daily, with awesome coaches, of course
Our first group meet was at a sports ground, laughing in a circle
In our tracksuits, grinning, we took pictures after our dispersal
Introducing ourselves, we also got complimentary motivation
Soon, we boarded the train, the air filled with conversation
I enjoyed talking to people, making new friends,
Chinese whisper, horror stories and uno were the trends
We arrived finally, going straight to the university
A bit annoying, since we had to walk 2 kms, which felt like an eternity
Settling down, we adjusted to our new home, ready for the next day
Waking up early, groaning, we got ready, and we were away!
I was freaked out, to say the least, my nerves getting the best of me
But soon, excitement replaced fear, and all I felt was glee
The next moments went in a flash, as we went from jokes to sets
Feeling surprisingly confident, powder all over me for the sweat
Giving my best, I smiled after my dismount, happy with how it went
After all, this was round 1, so I needed to present
Also doing rope later, I could not believe I got selected
At the same time, I was nervous, cuz I had not expected it
Nevertheless, the air still chill, with everyone joking around,
It didn't feel like a huge comp, just performing on another ground
Selected for pole and overall, I had to do 2 sets pole, 1 set rope
I just prayed, thought I could not win, but there was hope
The coaches making sure we were all warmed up and ready,
Finishing the 1& half minute sets, the comp was over already
This was the last round, and my god, I was stunned,
My health was not good, but i tried not to succumb
Flashing a grin, my happiness was off limits,
as I reunited with the group who had cheered for my exhibits
I felt relieved, but we weren't done yet,
since we also have to plan for the pyramid comp, get it all set
And just like that, the next day, a bouncy quirky me did the group act,
We didn't win in the pyramid comp, but i got new friends, that's a fact
I got 3 gold medal, Team, pole Mallakhamb and overall,
Thank ful to my coaches and seniors, I smiled, standing in the hall
chatting with my teammates, happy as ever, we took many photos
With mallakhamb experts & everyone else we know
My cheeks hurt from the grinning, and after a while, we winded up
Secretly going for a cold coffee break, sipping from the cup
I also found someone to sing with, and for an hour, we just sung
I was on cloud nine, as we all hung out, old and young
Not stopping at that we did a lot more timepass, chilling out
Playing kabaddi, dumb sharads, all of us free now, no doubt
We also jumped around, hopping from the terrace and back,
Soon enough, we were onto the train, coming on track
Uno reigning over and over, joy going sky high
We went to sleep, waking up to Mumbai!
Saying our byes, I parted with my lovely supportive friends,
And thanking the coaches, this is how the story ends!
