recently came across this channel and it's very inspiring, this video in particular. I struggle with a lack of discipline in my life, and I am working on changing that, but sometimes I feel so stuck that I tend to look to the old habits. I am letting this comment be a reminder to myself to not give up, because there is no easy way out, and if there is, then that thing is probably not the best you can be.
Run towards hard problems that's what makes life more challenging.....liked this approach it doesn't solve the problem but gives the power to fight with it and sometimes it actually achieves that which is unimaginable
This channel is literally saving my college GPA. Every time I am stuck with a math problem or physics problem, I open your channel. I listen to a couple of videos. Instantly, motivation comes. Then, I magically know how to solve the problems!! Thank you so much!
Im not even kidding, your video gives me goosebumps. My childhood dream was to be a scientist one day, making things nobody has ever imagined of.This video really helps me actually feel what it is like to be in those shoes (though i am sure there is more of the hard-work than just what is shown). Thank you for sharing your precious journey with the world . Cheers!
This is so awesome man, I'm heading to college in the fall this year (primero dios), and just finding this content makes me so inspired to grind for something better in life, thank you for these very relaxing and inspiring videos, i wish you the best in your PhD journey and i hope you make more content!!! ill def be here to watch this stuff!!!
I really enjoy your videos, please keep making more! I'm currently doing a masters and your videos are motivating me to apply for a PhD program this year! Really appreciate the work you're doing - both vlogs and your PhD work!!
Super video, and thank to share your daily study routine. That's really help me to improve my study. I am a graduation final year student from India. Thank u 🙏
ive been looking for videos that would help with my PhD application and came across your videos. They don't really add anything to my PhD search BUT i have to admit, they are so inspirational and oh so relaxing to watch. Your videography, your voice, the things you talk about and how you express your feelings as well as the music.. Perfect.. Just perfect! Good luck in your PhD and in life!
I wanted to become a biologist, but I am very inspired by your thinking about running behind hard problems,I am from India where most people want the easy way out, dude they think of BS-MS and PHD as some sort of cheap degree compared to MBBS and Engineering I am very glad that I want to run behind the bigger problems and want to do research instead of following the Herd Often my relatives make fun of me for my thinking Very Inspirational Video❤️❤️
He likes things clean. Harvard, on the other hand, really needs to get with technology and upgrade from the chalk & blackboard. They remind me of my high school algebra class, back in 1978. That chalk was all over my teacher's hands, pants, floor, air, etc. Surely Harvard can afford to upgrade to whiteboards, or better? And, Quantum Boy must hate that nasty chalk.
Iam currently in 11th and i love physics it's soo interesting , and man u are living my dream , i will work hard to become a scientist . I love ur channel it's so motivating 💜
@@quantum_boy You're very much welcome Professor. I am an African, currently reading BTech Automation and Robotics India, and truly interested in Aerospace, Neuroscience & Artificial Intelligence, and theoretical physics. Due to some impediments, I have become very weak in math although I am passionate about Physics and math. I need to revive that excellence in math, so my journey through physics could be a success. Please make a video on how to self study math and physics. I really just need to be excellent in both. Thanks much once again for the inspiration Sir.
lovely piano in the background. At this stage do you only solve new problems / research or you still have courses? And also do you ever go back to study textbooks e.t.c (in physics or math) or you only read papers?
I finished my courses, so now I only focus on doing research. I read papers most of the time, because that's where the new research is. Every now and then you have to go back to a textbook to learn an established technique.
You make great episodes. I'm a little bit confused, you seem to be solving a lot of different problems. I thought PhD is about solving one problem, write one thesis and probably public different papers along that journey, different finding along the way.
It may depend. We focus on solving different problems to publish papers. The thesis at the end is just a culmination of the work you did throughout. This may vary depending on what field/group you work in.
From my perspective not everyone can think like a physicist. Not everyone can think like a composer or a classical musician either. You are either born with these gifts or you're not. You just happen to be born with a gift that you want to work hard at. Also, you make good video's and your story is compelling.
@@quantum_boy great! I'm an incoming graduate student at Harvard and while searching for Harvard vlogs - came across yours. Hoping to run into you somewhere around Jefferson building and tell you in person how great your videos are! :)
i actually already solved this particular problem - i put a summary in the margin of my moleskine and there is a "special gift" for it - just ppl without the gift try to convince themselves there isn't one
I've realized that PhDs students, specially theorist have a tendency to be really, really self absorbed. And they spend way to much time thinking about themselves, I don't believe is something wrong btw.

It takes daily effort to stick to the new habits. I still struggle with this. But we have to keep persevering!
Same! Gives me different perspectives to my daily lifestyle and how much better I (we) can do to make a great example for others...
keep it up brother!
Hey man How did Mains go?

Well said Shreyash!
"Physics is less about talent and more about resilience" I'm really glad you said that, I'll hold onto it!

Hey do you have any insight into this new PhD program at Harvard specifically studying quantum physics and related matters...
From my perspective not everyone can think like a physicist. Not everyone can think like a composer or a classical musician either. You are either born with these gifts or you're not. You just happen to be born with a gift that you want to work hard at. Also, you make good video's and your story is compelling.
Love all the episodes! What equipment and editor do you use to make these vidoes?
I edit with Premiere Pro. I film with an iPhone 11 Pro Max and I record audio with a Shure MV7.

Congrats and welcome Kanwal!
I SO want to request for a white board
I’m also inspired at Harvard
Did you solve it?
I'm 11 grade student from Bangladesh. I also wanna be a physicist.💜💜
