We asked people if they would light a candle for victims of the Holocaust. This is what happened.

- Today, the world commemorates Holocaust Memorial Day and marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
Six million Jewish men, women and children were murdered by the Nazis because they were Jews.
We went out in London to ask people if they would take some time out of their day to learn about some of the victims of the Holocaust and light a candle in honour of their memory.

I am not Jewish, but my love and respect are directed to them - I would proudly light a candle to show my respect! 💓
THANK YOU. You have NO IDEA how grateful Jewish people are to people like you
@@alizafuchs4867 My late sister came to the Jewish faith before she passed, so I regard Jewish people as part of my family. You just proved the reason why, Aliza! 💓 🇦🇺
To all of the holocausts' deniers, I pray for you to open your eyes and hearts.
They are to be pitied. Their minds just cannot cope with the reality. Even beneath any hatred, they are afraid.
Today, I remember 'Jane Haining' a Scottish / English teacher and Matron, at a Jewish girls school in Budapest.
When the Nazis occupied Hungary in 1943, they as part of their plan to eliminate Europe Jewery, rounded up her pupils and other Hungarian Jews.
She was advised to escape, but refused and was transported to Auschwitz with her girls and was worked, starved to death some months after arriving there.
She is Righteous Gentile, commemorated at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem...
RIP Jane 🕯⚘️
Thankyou u Sean I did not know this and I will now think of this story and this teacher and children and learn more. We do not have to be Jewish to want to stand with Israel and make sure this never happens again. Stories like your must be told u taught me as a Brit a lesson today I will tell my children
One brave lady
More aptly, she was Righteous among the Nations. May her memory be as a blessing. 💖
She came from a small village called Dunscore in Dumfries & Galloway.
They will not be forgotten.
God Willing
We must Never forget! 🙏🇮🇱❤️
תודה רבה, עם ישראל חי...
I lit a candle in my window tonight for all the poor victims of the Holocaust. ❤ from Northern Ireland.
Yes , I can't believe BBC asked everyone to light a candle at 8 last night and put in in there window....I'm outside Belfast and I noticed quite a few houses had candles in their windows❤❤❤
@@Karen-nn3jnthank you ❤

Never Forget
What a beautiful way to keep their memory alive
And to educate and to remind everyone they were humans. 💖
As a Hungarian Jew who has lived in London, תודה רבה.
Lovely thoughtful gesture.
These people you interviewed were lovely, gentle, compassionate people. They lift my hopes for humanity after the barbarity of Southport.
None of you is forgotten!
I visited Auschwitz in November 2007. It was an experience I will never forget. I remember saying a prayer in one of the dorms with its old wooden bunks and line of open hardwood toilets. "May God bless the souls of all those who passed this way". I know He will. Today, I heard on tv about lighting candles with just three minutes to go, but I lit a candle in my window for all the dear people who were killed in the shoah. It was their massive sacrifice that opened the way for the re-creation of the land of Israel. In honor and respect. ✡✝
Thank you thank you we remember them all❤️
So Sad. Wish we could go back in time and rescue them.
We will not forget them. Love and prayers from🇨🇦❤️🇮🇱
Thank you for this. I pray that Israel stays strong and survives.
What a beautiful idea ❤
They will not be forgotten ❤
Amazing teachable moment. Brilliant. Do not forget.
This is such a lovely thing to do and it touched me. So important, in the current climate especially, to see the humans, their lives and experiences, behind their names and The Holocaust. Bless you.
I met a man many years ago who was a survivor of a death camp. He lost many of his families in Poland death camps. Lovely man. RIP MR Binek.
💔❤️ i will never forget.
Never forget! And now more than even, never forget that many regular people were brainwashed into participating. 💔
And sad to see this kind of mind control is resurfacing again. I feel sorry for my ancestral heritage 🕯
My they rest in peace 🙏 ❤ from 🇮🇪 Ireland 🇮🇪 😢
Thank you for this message - 🙏
for all the victims of the holocaust ❤️🇮🇱💐💔…
On behalf of the people 🇮🇪 who are dismayed by the stance of this President/Government.
Thanks, @pauls.2526 Such an important message after yesterday’s horrific speech of the Irish president and the even more horrific physical aggression against a silently and non-violently protesting Jewish woman.
May God bless them and keep them 🙏 🇮🇪 🇮🇱 ✝️ ✡
@@CaroAbebe absolutely ! That horrible man and the was that poor woman was ejected from the gathering unbelievable !
Baruch Hashem (ברוך השם) 🙏
This is a beautiful project. As a grandchild of survivors, this brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for ehat you did.
Me too ❤
Great project, made me tearful. Thank you for reminding people of those who were killed, their courage and humanity.
I wish it had been better publicised.... I would have left a candle in my window or garden for 24 hrs.
May they forever never be forgotten 🙏🙏🙏
Lovely idea.
Never again, RIP all those who died!!!!
My grandparents and many more family were murdered in lithuanua. I have no photo's of them as everything seemed to dissappear. Would love to have had a photo.
What a beautiful way to remember, lighting a named candle and being given a letter with a short sum of who the person was, what they did and how they passed. I will add people, on this sad day, please dont blame German people who live today, they still live with the guilt even though they were not born at the time. Sending you all my prayers.
The German people have been proving themselves to be sensitive to this issue, and fierce in their combatting anti-Semitism. I hope their neighbors uphold the lessons learned, as well.
Soo well said. Thank you😊
Sorry could watch only half as in tears! These memories are still raw. Thank yo for this lovely welcome idea.
Thank you to those who paricipated.
Indeed they will not be forgotten.
Heartbreaking we will never ever forget their memories live forever.
When I started watching the video I did not expect to hear that each candle had the name of a victim on it. Hearing the people say the names and tell bits of the history of the person had me very emotional. That was very special, thank you, and thank you for reminding us that these were civils and children who got deported for one crime only, being Jewish. My great grandfather died in Auschwitz, he was not Jewish but he was fighting for what he thought was a cause good enough that he might die for it. RM you are not forgotten either. Let there be peace.
We will never forget 😢 much love and blessings to you all
Heartbreaking to hear all their lives. Thanks to everyone who participated. My family died in Auschwitz. Dozens of them.
Shalom brother ❤

Remembering my Great Uncle who died in a camp. 🇮🇱📖🕯️
I've read a few stories of Holocaust survivors, but there were so many who didn't make it! A beautiful tribute to those who didn't make it - thank you for remembering them!
Search "Holocaust survivor testimony", and watch them recount the horrors.
I just did some hugs for all of the victims…
I lit my candle at 8pm and said a prayer for all those that suffered.
Thank you to everyone involved in this project. It was very moving to listen to. 💔
I would light a candle ❤❤❤😢 it was a beautiful thing to do, thank you
That was quite amazing. Thank you.
Rest in Peace to them all 🙏
Beautiful idea. So very important. Schools should do this. ❤

Thank you! We will not forget them

The more years I live the more I acknowledge about the Holocaust, and the more I appreciate the Jewish people. God bless.

Your channel does great work
You are wonderful
thank you!
Thank you. I will never forget.
I want to show this video to all the people who throw around the word ‘Nazi’ to describe people with slightly right wing political views or anyone who isn’t left wing. If they truly wanted to know what Nazi’s were like, they can do their research or go and see the concentration camps for themselves.
Greed, anger, prejudice and ignorance of the true nature of life is truly the scourge of humanity. May we humans develop empathy and compassion for all humans and other species that we share this planet with. Deepest sympathies with all the victims and survivors of this horrific tragedy. Never again we say, let's ensure this is the case for all time.
Very beautiful and smart project. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Beautiful. A very thoughtful expression.
Thank you everyone who lit a candle 🕯️ ❤️
thank you for doing this.
You don't have to ask, I would have asked you for the privilege to light one. My "candle day" is April 20.
Not for the biggest idiot in modern history.
That was the day, my mothers dad, so my grandfather lost his life in 1945 as the result for rescuing jews in Berlin and getting caught. 2 weeks before the end of the war. His name was Josef Ludviczak.
It is people like him and my other grandfather who let me say that I am be proud to be a German. He slso stayed human in these very dark ages but had the chance to survive the war.
May his memory be blessed and may he have a share in the world to come.
It requires a rare bravery, integrity, and purity of heart to stand up for humanity at times like those
They will not be forgotten ❤
Hate on that level is disgusting. To kill people for their religion is disgusting
Nazis didnt kill for a religion, but still horrible notheless
@@gingerplague4631 That’s what I wanted to say as well. People weren’t killed for their religion, but for their “race”. There wasn’t anything you could do if the Nazis had classified you as a Jew. Edith Stein, a German philosopher with a Jewish background, was murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau although she had been baptised in 1922, long before the Nazi reign, and a Catholic nun since 1933.
Todah rabah.
Very moving..thank you for this..helped us see them as human beings..not just statistics❤
How lovely that each candle was named. A beautiful and loving inspiration.❤
Thank you, London ❤🩹
Thank you for this. I am the grandchild, great-grandchild and grand-niece of survivors and also, sadly of many victims. In a country that is so often marked as antisemitic, it was heartwarming to see this happening in London and also I know how important it is to not forget those who were lost. Bravo for keeping the flames burning.🔥✡️🙏🏽
Bless you for this.
Never again. Remembered always.

Thank you everyone who took part in this memorial/tribute to the millions of people horrendously caught up in the pure evil of the time ❤🏴🇮🇱🎗
