Such a cool and informative vid! I am going to iceland with my mom in July for 10 days, will be doing the circle route roadtrip around the country. But would love to take a fly rod along! if you could be so kind as to recommend a river for lil' ol me to try, that would be appreciated

I love your videos and what you say about my home country! It is 99% correct what you said only one thing was wrong and thats to do with river owners having to form a syndicate for the rivers! It is Actually volentary to do so and a single owner can choose to stand outside of it! But most do not choose that as they all get a share in the rent the outfitter that rents the river pays!
And yes us guides take huge pride in being as professional as we possably can as we repricent iceland and the outfitter :)

Thanks for this excellent description, and, having fished 23 different rivers in Iceland and caught over 1000salmon there, with 6 from 21 to 23lbs,I can only agree.
However, I want to make a few negative comments :
1/As an average, fish are getting smaller than in the late ninetees.
2/Icelanders are very friendly so long as they expect a lot of money from you. On the minute they have nothing to expect from you, you no longer exist. It took me 10 years to accept that, as I thought I had good friends there... Money, and nothing else.
3/Prices charged for the few top rivers... and for the second class ones are deeply ridiculous and absolutely not worth it. It was ok some years ago when they were less than half what they are, with more larger fish. Now, it is totally shocking... Do not get mistaken, I can afford that easily, but I feel there is a limit to human stupidity... And you can do much better on Yokanga, Kharlovka, or... Fishing Tarpon on fly in Cuba and Costa Rica}.
      Tight lines to everyone.

@@jacquesmontupet8250 you are the first person i hear of that icelanders put money over friendship! I personally do not lnow a single person that does that! I totally agree that prices are getting to be stupid and scaring normal people from coming here to fish its starting to be so bad many save up during off season to be able to afford 2 days of decent salmon fishing!! I have lost clients because prices are hiked up if there is a good summer the year before but not go down in a bad year and many are turning to norway russia an cuba!
