suprarune the A380 is the stock automatic transmission on the Twin turbo version of the supra and also the NA I think as well. it holds about 500 bhp stock but can be shipped out to a place like ATF for a great upgrade and truly hold power. Marko D's supra was a Sound performance upgraded TH400.
Oh didnt know they are stock om the tt...btw im picking up my first ever supra this coming weekend and its a tt auto.so good to know! That i didnt know:) thanks
I think this is the longest I've ever seen you go without drinking a beer. Loved the video, bro, watched every second of it. Really enjoy how in-depth you go with your technical videos.
I'm just looking for feedback on the idle rattle, shifter positioning and how it is for daily driving. Glad that you're documenting everything for the rest of us man. Good luck on everything!
I don't know where you got the ratios from or if it was a typo, but W 58 gear ratios: 1 - 3.285:1 2 - 1.894:1 3 - 1.275:1 4 - 1.00:1 5 - 0.783:1 R - 3.768:1 V160 Gear ratios: 1 - 3.827:1 2 - 2.360:1 3 - 1.685:1 4 - 1.312:1 5 - 1.000:1 6 - 0.793:1 R - 3.280:1
Good Choice going CD009, there is no logical reason to stay with something even if its discontinued. CD009 AND T56 are the future for supras, and alot of cars. 👍
hey man a little editing tip. i know your garage is pretty bright but try lowering your gamma or brightness and add a little contrast. play with it a little if you can for a clearer picture. Also thank you so much for the different trans options
Awesome video, very informative. I plan to drop a 2JZ with a CD009 into a 280z. I was going to use the differential from a Q45 which is 3.54 VLSD. Would this be a good match for my motor and transmission? I do not plan on going crazy, basically a stock motor on pump gas, maybe around 400hp. Thank you!
great vid man. i legit have had this convo with many people since im doing a V160. granted i got my TT auto supra for a really good price, with all the other trannys they need to be built to push 1k plus. (im my case ill be running a 7685) so cost wise (tranny, sending it to be built, adapter kit) the V160 is the best option. have seen them regularly selling for 4-5k lately. that isn't bad considering it needs nothing. only down side to swapping a supra is the damn rear end
On my car I use R154 with TT Auto 93-96 EU spec----- 3.538:1, LSD standard, big diff, big flange and is so perfect. If want to change I will use t56 magnum.
The reason why i bought a V161 is because i know i will get my money back on the resale of the Supra. I bought mine for $5200 used, after they discontinued it, and damn transmission's price keeps going up and up and up. People look down on Supras with sub standard transmissions. But to each is own.. do what makes you happy.
Just to throw this out there, some of the n/a supras came with the A02A which is a 3.796 which is close to the stock nissan cd009 rear end and good for the t56
Nice vid lots of good info could you do a video on drive shafts and that the differences on that 3 bolt or 4 bolt rubber ring plate and any options thanks
if you would please make a video/talk about in a video when the time comes on how to connect the wiring for the cd009 trans with the harness. Also if there was anything else you had to buy in order to get the cd009 shifter location correct with the mk4
If the V160 is not an option do to price. I would definitely encourage anyone to go with a 370z Transmission. The 6 speed 350z and 370z trans holds a shit load of power and is super reliable
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think you can use a BMW Transmission (ZF series - not sure what model exactly)? I'd assume there would be some wiring, etc needed to get it running. & in regard to the T56, they sell for $2000-3500ish here in Canada. There is a new one in Toronto for $3700. But again, $3000+ tranmission as opposed to $800 USD used or $1700 for a new CD009. Options lol...
i had a gs6-53dz its a bmw 530D 6 speed, only thing i had to do was to weld bellhousing and chop the front driveshaft and weld it. its a very strong gearbox but the ratio is different, the second shift its like first in v160 =) it was on a 1100+whp supra and hold long but i just bought a v160 and a coustom made 3 plate clutch master fx850 so my clutch will hold now, my clutch didnt hold with bmw gearbox with 6 sprung hub disc.
i hadnt heard anyone was making parts for v160. checked suprasport after watching your vid, didnt see anything on their website. do you have anymore details on their products? specifically do they manufacture the synchros?
Question I am trying to buy a clean 1996 Supra in Japan but it's non turbo and automatic. Do you think is worth it to buy the car or not? I was thinking to buy a turbo engine later on and another transmission for the car ,I also need a computer and intercooler and some other stuff. Do you think is worth it . The car price is 15,000 and the turbo supras prices are in the 39k and up
Quick question..... I’m new to all of this I’m buying a 92 Cressida and it comes with a 3.0l V6 motor and a automatic transmission. Is it possible to turn my auto trans into a manual???? Someone please help.
PURE Function yeah dude it was, I've been looking over that cd009 option for a while now, but I might look into some 1 off options, someone told me about the Z32 trans and like another youtuber mentioned some of the BMW transmissions
Mr.Ryan any and all type of vechile parts 4 any type and yr on www.RockAuto.com and when u buy anything from them they r shipped 2 your door the next day
ah okay then carry on :) it made me confused because it didn't say you were going with a manual it just said Toyota Supra Transmission options and I was like wtf?! please tell me he's not like one of those rice boys who think that the only proper transmission is a manual and then fail to recognize how the majority of cars that get great times on the 1/4 are automatic.
Overkill is THE reason why 2JZ AND V160 are renknowned and the sole reason why they can both hold over 1000 whp. A tear dropped down every gear head's face when you tried to suggest billet 6061 aluminum is better than cast iron. SMFH. Shame on you.
Finally someone made a video of gearbox options on the supra 2jz :) thanks mate
he forgot the A380, and the TH400
Where is the A380 from? The th400 is the auto right ?

soo far tha only real fool on here spitting all specs nd ops for that variety of tru soup. props doggy. aprecate tha opinion of dem trans too.
This is awesome, this is i think the only video on trans options for the mk4, keep up the good work!
Very informative video. Detailed breakdown of the transmission generation.
I'm going with the cd009 and the original collins kit, heard great things about it so will see
hey any info on the kit also thinking of doing the same thanks
hey man a little editing tip. i know your garage is pretty bright but try lowering your gamma or brightness and add a little contrast. play with it a little if you can for a clearer picture. Also thank you so much for the different trans options
This an awesome video, thanks for options, especially for guys like us who as NA Supras and want to to a power build .

Nice vid bro nice info watching here from Jamaica🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 !!!!!!!!!

just found your channel :)very impressed :)
I'm going with the V160 RIP bank account however when you own a Supra it's worth it.
*I'm just looking for options on an automatic that can handle about 500hp because I'm lazy and I'm not doing the pedal shift thing. Thanks in advance*
if you would please make a video/talk about in a video when the time comes on how to connect the wiring for the cd009 trans with the harness. Also if there was anything else you had to buy in order to get the cd009 shifter location correct with the mk4
thanks thinking about running in my mk4 so would be very helpful

Oh, really never knew that honestly. I'm really loving the vids though, good information and depth with everything. Keep it going!
It's the Getrag 420G 6 spd tranny from the e46 M3 that most guys use, gearing is very similar to the V160 and it's basically just as strong.
i had a gs6-53dz its a bmw 530D 6 speed, only thing i had to do was to weld bellhousing and chop the front driveshaft and weld it. its a very strong gearbox but the ratio is different, the second shift its like first in v160 =) it was on a 1100+whp supra and hold long but i just bought a v160 and a coustom made 3 plate clutch master fx850 so my clutch will hold now, my clutch didnt hold with bmw gearbox with 6 sprung hub disc.
LAVDIMRECORDZ do you have any photos or videos of your set up
I'm going with an AR5
hey Mr.Ryan u might wanna check with Texas Speed and see what they charge 4 a high horsepower motor they make that might fit in your Supra
Great job and keep it up! Stay TUFF
What about the a340e? I'm using it in my gs300 on 2jz making 390kw stock transmission just transmission cooling
What man thanks for video it's really helpful but I have got confused by the rare end that gose with cd009 do u mean ls400
How would the is300 lsd diff work with the cd009 I think I read some where it's 3.909 or something
Boom love your channel ;)
i hadnt heard anyone was making parts for v160. checked suprasport after watching your vid, didnt see anything on their website. do you have anymore details on their products? specifically do they manufacture the synchros?
Make a video on pedro auto supra trans vs the t56! I need to know that cause I'm building mine and it's hard cause no one has the right info
Have you heard of the CD00A? Its supposed to have improved syncros when shifting into 2nd/3rd gear. I wanted to know if its still capable of 1000hp+.
Yes
What’s the best choice for having a n/a 2jz ?
So can I bolt the v160 straight to my stock 1999 GS300 rear end
What's the black and blue sensor on the cd009 what's what
Can an old school w 6 transmission fit the 2 j block

If you're doing all the work yourself, go for it, otherwise what you'll pay in labor would be the same as just buying a gte instead
Quick question.....
I’m new to all of this I’m buying a 92 Cressida and it comes with a 3.0l V6 motor and a automatic transmission. Is it possible to turn my auto trans into a manual????
Someone please help.
R V Definitely and it should be an I6 3.0 7mge
Nice buddy
my 88 Supra rocking the 2jZ swap with a R154
What about a Toyota Altezza 6speed?
What do you think of the R155?
is the t56 smooth like v160 or hard?
What is good for a 1998 supra.
anyone do a 2jz with cd009 in a MKIII?
Patrick Ukemi did you ever find out or do it yourself?
Super sport transmission website is?
Could I have the contact from this collins person from you
The na SC300 is like 4.1
What about the R155
The w58 now costs over a grand
dont forget about the r155.....beefier gears than r154 1st gear sucks gearing wise and you gotta swap input shafts from an r151
BROOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PURE Function yeah dude it was, I've been looking over that cd009 option for a while now, but I might look into some 1 off options, someone told me about the Z32 trans and like another youtuber mentioned some of the BMW transmissions

Cd009 is noisy as f. Okay for a track car, shitty for a daily
There's only 1 option for me - V160 :)
1:31 that is wrong. the 4th is more likely to be 1:1
uhhh theres also the A38O the automatic transmission.
ah okay then carry on :) it made me confused because it didn't say you were going with a manual it just said Toyota Supra Transmission options and I was like wtf?! please tell me he's not like one of those rice boys who think that the only proper transmission is a manual and then fail to recognize how the majority of cars that get great times on the 1/4 are automatic.
A built a340e is a fucking strong trans too. Ill keep the auto on my supra. Ill get it built.
Overkill is THE reason why 2JZ AND V160 are renknowned and the sole reason why they can both hold over 1000 whp. A tear dropped down every gear head's face when you tried to suggest billet 6061 aluminum is better than cast iron. SMFH. Shame on you.
owns a mk4 supra "I ain't got that kinda mon......" stfu m8 XD
