@@HonestLettuce I recently upgraded to one as well, but the higher tier. I would not recommend the base model though, as it only has one cooling fan rather than two, which if you’re doing more with this computer may be an issue. On the base model you only get two thunderbolt 3 ports, whereas on the upgraded model you get that plus 2 usb-c ports as well. If you have the money to upgrade, I definitely would.

I think your dire warning against color was a bit much. I picked my green iMac for the lovely teal back, but also for that light, retro-mint green front color. That light green is one of my fave colors and matches, EXACTLY, the wall paint in the room where I set it up. Thus, unlike in your warning, my iMac does NOT stand out. It actually blends in. And given how pleasing I find this color, I don't think I'll tire of it. If it's a color you've long been attracted to and love, then it's a good bet you'll continue to love it for years to come. There is no reason to be avoid this iMac or get it in silver out of fear that you *might* not love the color forever.
I think dire is a bit harsh. I am sure it looks great where you put it. Will you never move that iMac to a different room or change decor or paint in the next 5 years? Anyway, was a suggestion and am happy you like it.
@@JerrySchulze New paint color or a new room doesn't mean the computer will automatically become obsolete. Will I change the paint color in my room? Unlikely. I’m not sure why so many reviewers at the time were all claiming it doesn’t support HDR. It most certainly does. HDR10 and DolbyVision support are both there. Maybe it just wasn’t activated by default back then. Came with it all out of the box for me.
Correct apple did not list this as able to play hdr when was released. The screen though has no local dimming and obviously not oled so can’t really display hdr content but will play it.
Everyone talks about the ports or lack of ….. but don’t most people use iCloud and even if you need extra storage that’s just one port. So my question is what do you need more than two ports for??
I think a lot of people dont need more but most people do. They will try and connect a flash drive or camera to it at some point and wont be able to until they buy an adapter.
My new 24" iMac works a lot better with my Samsung 28" 4K monitor than my 2015 27" iMac. Before I had a problem if I tried on either monitor to make it full screen it would black out the other screen. The new iMac doesn't have that problem, and it also puts a menu bar on each monitor, with dimmed one on the monitor that I'm not using. It works well. Is that because I'm not going through the Caldigit TS3+ or not, but directly from thunderbolt 3 port on the iMac? File transfer from my old Mac was super fast using the "thunderbolt bridge" option.
Ports. Ports. Ports. Why do Apple have to always ruin their new designs? Totally out of touch with Reality. Not all Apple users are teenagers just wanting to organise play lists and watch online videos. Some of us have real-world work to do. Here’s the thing: All of Apple’s efforts in becoming 100% carbon neutral, etc, mean absolutely nothing if millions of people around the world are forced to either *throw away* their USB devices or *buy extra* devices like hubs and dongles - neither choice is great for the environment. Would it kill Apple to give us the ports we need?
People wanted thinner and smaller computers. Apple is just doing the same thing as what people done in the past; Floppy to CD/DVD to Flash drive, now we are transitioning to type C cause smaller and minimal designs are on demand. Mac is not the only the option you have. If you do not like it, just buy a different one. Personally I can do a lot with Apple, and I also have real work to do. I only need one Hub, flash drive that have 2 types of head (type c and usb), and hard drive. Just learn to adjust, our generation is point of time where things change, just the same as the time people have to adjust from floppy disks to CD/DVD, they have to buy new equipments.
@@georgiarose575 I agree with you. It's simply called evolution and change. Unfortunately, not everyone welcomes change. She's right about the environment thing though. They shouldve just straight up said they were cutting corners or something lol. It just seems hypocritical to justify the lack of features because they "love" the environment and yet they sell them separately anyway.
Apple likes to drag consumers… sometimes kicking and screaming into the future. Often starts as an inconvenience that graduates to appreciation. USB- is the present/future … as is Thunderbolt. USB A is legacy. SD cards… becoming legacy. I’m fine with using a dongle to connect my legacies as we gradually move to a time where they will no longer be needed. USB-C is fast and compact.
You should buy the color one you like. The part about color is completely his opinion. Life is short. If you want color in it you have that right. Please buy the color you want - my opinion is that you won’t regret it.
Would like a 30inch version of this, we are spoilt these days with relatively inexpensive amazing large screen devices and topping out at 24inches just ain't gonna cut it in 2023!
I do graphics, plus classes where I have to use zoom and open up several windows. Is this a good computer? I’m just leery in getting an iMac because I got an iMac years ago and it died a year and a 1/2 later. The mother, it was the motherboard. 😬. Apple didn’t want to do anything to help me, it was out of warranty. After that I purchased a MacBook pro, which it’s still going strong after 11 years. Looking for a new Mac. Any advice.
You act like being thin is actually important for a desktop. :) I think the lack of ports and being top-heavy are both way more important, and bad. It does look nice, though.
Damn you did two product placements, which undermined the credibility of your whole video. As soon as you did the second product placement, I tuned out.
If you spend the same amount of money you will NOT get the same quality display. Lots of issues with Macs and external displays lately. Plus you need keyboard, mouse, camera, mic, speakers....
The new iMac’s stand footprint is too small and easy to knock over. Even just adjusting the monitor causes it to fall over. The stand should also connect more central to the back. It would of helped balance the monitor and possibly made it easier to rotate and adjust. Just not a good design when compared to the previous model.
Hi, nice video btw, may I ask you some question? This imac m1 is it support for 3d rendering? And how about Adobe family, such as ps, ai, Premier, any issues in this imac m1? Thanks before
adobe has not updated all apps yet but the betas seem to run ok. If those are required apps I would get an intel now and upgrade later or just wait until Adobe is done updating.

Vision problems the VA has told me best option is the Imac which I'm waiting for. IT mgr (my clients are CIO's, IT Mgr's etc) tell me stick with Intel if I'm going to use Windows (for now), on the 27". Will it change? Most likely. But I have to run 3 OS's in order to do my job (Mac, PC, and Linux). Also Apple is the only company that does Accessibility right.
I feel all your criticism about this iMac is unjust, the device isn’t designed to replace the iMac Pro. It is just a consumer grade machine, there isn’t many reasons anyone would use accessories these days other than charging. With iPhones and iPads now shipped with usb c cables there isn’t much argument for a usb a port? (After all Apple keep their products orientated to the whole Apple ecosystem) personally I like the white bezel it seems to fit a lot better with a modern decor home better than having a black bezel which would stick out like a sore thumb, especially with the colour arrays on offer. I do however really like your review on this and gained me as a subscriber 👍🏻
Great review. I plan to get the mid tier model. Do I need to upgrade the RAM to 16gb if I edit video in Adobe Premiere (rarely 4K) and animate using After Effects? Thanks!
Would you recommend this for someone who wants to do the odd UA-cam video everyday emails etc, but also I’m considering getting into trading soon would it be good for that, or would you recommend waiting for the bigger model which may come early 2022?
“May come” is the problem. Yes I think this would be fine for what you want to do. If a bigger screen is a just you can wait or buy this or a Mac mini and ext display.
i bought one in the colour you chose too and despite being nearly £2000 worth i found it to be very disappointing vs my late 2011 imac with a SSD update i did three years ago. The screen was ok but the smaller size hurts it when you have more than one thing on screen, the keyboard is awful and the mouse charging port is stupidly placed. But these were small fry compared to the lack of performance upgrade in every day tasks. My over 10 year old machine was no slower when you were not in final cut pro or something heavy duty like that. So i sent it back, 8Bg ram is simply not enough and i had loads of occasions where it ran out of application memory. Frankly its just disappointing for the money

Good review, I already have the imac M1 24 ", now I'm looking for a transport bag that protects it well and fits like a glove, for when I have to take it with me to the beach, it has to endure the trip by car well. I've been looking for a lot time and I can not find anything, it will be that it is new, I see bags for the imac of 21 "of 27" ... but nothing for the IMAC M1 24 ", could you make a video about the subject? ... and now is when you put me some video of Khabi Lame that without saying anything he takes the imac, puts it in the original box of the imac 24 "and makes that gesture with his hand ... I know but I was hoping you would recommend me a bag, the box weighs a pound more than the same IMAC.
Seems you put out genuine info, real and honest experiences. I like it. Sub'd. Keep them coming. I love the facts and details but at the same time is not an infomercial.
When you buy a computer or car or new home the manufacturer could easily add nicer quality components and add the cost to the final product. Consumers would appreciate the product that much more also more sales
the soundlevel of the build in microphones was a bit lower than on the microphone you are using for the rest of the video and the sound signature a bit less full than your main microphone. I do however believe that people would not experience the sound signature of the build in microphones as being in anyway bad and I would not mind using it in a videocall.

That’s great! I am not sure about the diff between using the dock or not but glad it works for you.
Ports. Ports.
Excellent review. And point taken, I'll buy a silver one instead of the colorised version.
You should buy the color one you like. The part about color is completely his opinion. Life is short. If you want color in it you have that right. Please buy the color you want - my opinion is that you won’t regret it.
I appreciate and value the new 24” iMacs
Would like a 30inch version of this, we are spoilt these days with relatively inexpensive amazing large screen devices and topping out at 24inches just ain't gonna cut it in 2023!
I wish apple would allow upgrades on software for older macs. Really a shame
In 2023 - what would you suggest for day to day professional use:
1. i7 Intel iMac 2020 or
2. M1 iMac 2021
Your new videos are much much better than you already good videos from 1 year ago
Yes already food!
Damn you did two product placements, which undermined the credibility of your whole video. As soon as you did the second product placement, I tuned out.
Great videos ……I’m just not sure on what to do - buy a silver M1 iMac 24” or buy the M1 Mac mini - both 16GB versions - please help
If you spend the same amount of money you will NOT get the same quality display. Lots of issues with Macs and external displays lately. Plus you need keyboard, mouse, camera, mic, speakers....
Bro is diz true, all are saying dat we cant install third party plugin on m1 chip, thr s no issue on old imac (intel),?
What model of CalDigit is shown in the video, Jerry?
I showed a few and they should be in the description but here is a comparison m.ua-cam.com/video/6r_3bW1y4jI/v-deo.html
Great review 👍
Thanks!
Love ❤️ mine ! 16GB with 1TB drive ! Silver of course ! Nice video ! Thanks 🙏🏻
Very cool!
Hi Lee! Do you recommend 1 TB ssd or go to 2 TB based on your use right now?
@@sergiomoncada 1 TB works for me 👍🙏🏻
@@leerose9436 thanks 😀
The new iMac’s stand footprint is too small and easy to knock over. Even just adjusting the monitor causes it to fall over. The stand should also connect more central to the back. It would of helped balance the monitor and possibly made it easier to rotate and adjust. Just not a good design when compared to the previous model.
There are some bases available on Amazon which add weight to the bottom of the stand.
very good review. ordered one for myself and one for my dad as chistmas present. Shipping in total takes 4 months tho! :(
Hi, nice video btw, may I ask you some question? This imac m1 is it support for 3d rendering? And how about Adobe family, such as ps, ai, Premier, any issues in this imac m1? Thanks before
adobe has not updated all apps yet but the betas seem to run ok. If those are required apps I would get an intel now and upgrade later or just wait until Adobe is done updating.
Grey would be the best color for photo editing. The white bezel isn't good. Black would be better. How much of the Adobe color space does it display?
Im not sure exactly because Apple chose P3 as their gamut of choice. If I think about it today I will toss my Spyder x on it and see what that says.
Looks like it is 88% adobe Rgb and 100% p3 according to my data color spider elite.
and the 27" is 91% adobe rgb.
Oh and to make it more stable what about adding 3m rubber strips ?
I guess?
Your colour choice is good. The silver is not the same as the previous all silver design. The current silver feels plastic.
hmm. I have seen them in the apple store and didn't look plastic to me. Ill check again.
I've just taken delivery of mine I ordered green as I'm a novice and have no clue what to expect will be relying on these UA-cam blogs and my boys 🙏🏾🤦🏽♀️
Very cool!
Liked the video as soon as you start bashing on the colors. Now it’s time to watch the rest of the video haha
lol! Appreciate that!
Do you not find the lack of HDR is an issue when photo editing?
As a photographer, I’m gonna hold out for the larger screen
AND an M1 Pro/Max chip. That thing will be monstrous.
Can u daisy chain a monitor with tb ports on that iMac?
yes, although the resolution of the display can affect USB performance.
How is it compatible with my iPad and iPhone storage etc...
Yep, just need a usb-c to lightning cable.
@@JerrySchulze Oh no I've ordered the wrong cable USB-C to USB Adapter
@@ajwatson9974 that’s fine too. You can just plug in your cable with that.
@@JerrySchulze Thank You
Can you twitch stream on this?
My problem is when you buy this one next month the 27 or the 32 inch will come and then I will be kicking myself
Always something new coming. The mic on my right AirPod just died and I need a new pair so I bought them even though rumors say new ones are coming.
Can you also use the new iMac as an extended monitor?
So I am curious about this with universal control coming but just as a standard HDMI type input no. Unless you do something like this...ua-cam.com/video/V3gc-72_T2s/v-deo.html
My iMac 24 , 16 Go and Ssd 1 To, the 2 fans are audible and I dislike that ; my old 21;5 is far more silent !
Interesting, I never heard any fans in mine unless I was doing benchmarks.
I need help to decide! Should I buy an iMac 24” or iMac 27” 2020? I’m a photographer and can’t work with my 2015 iMac anymore, so I need an upgrade. I just don’t know what would be a better choice.
Really depends on your workflow and app. I would assume that for most people the M1 will be plenty of power. I know there are videos on Lightroom performance with the M1 you should probably check out.
@@JerrySchulze I’m a wedding photographer and I use lightroom and photoshop a lot. I am afraid that if I get the intel computer, it will start slowing down within time since everything seems to be now heading to work with m1s
@@marcoalejos9284 I have little doubt that the 2020 27” iMac will last many years if that helps.
@@JerrySchulze last question lol. If you were me, would you get the m1 or intel iMac? By the way you got a new subscriber. Awesome work!
@@marcoalejos9284 I would look at the Adobe updates before deciding. I bought another 2020 iMac just before the M1 iMac release and am happy with it. I can’t tell you what to get but if you are leaning towards intel look at refurbished and plan on upgrading in a couple years.
if i want a mac for college, writing (like book writing), and for work (using a program called teamviewer), would this version be okay, or should i get the 27inch one?
thanks in advance!
i won’t be using it for video editing or photo editing or anything like that!
Yes, this would work well for that.
@@JerrySchulze thank you so much!!
The green and orange iMacs look like "Oompa Loompas!" :-}
please help me with 2nd display option in m1 computer
Do you mean which monitor you should buy?
@@JerrySchulze i do have monitor . not sure how to use this as 2nd display in iMac M1
Well not all iMacs are meant for “content” creators
totally agree.
It’s for people who code and office work. Since the beginning of Apple they have been advertising it for offices 😂 It’s designed for small spaces.
I have the 8 gb ram one. I should have gotten the 16gb of ram.
I still recommend the 27” if that fits your needs. ua-cam.com/video/S5u3pWzJ6Ew/v-deo.html
I like the blue 💙
Great review. I plan to get the mid tier model. Do I need to upgrade the RAM to 16gb if I edit video in Adobe Premiere (rarely 4K) and animate using After Effects? Thanks!
I would upgrade if you can.
You chose the orange one... 🤔
Was good for thumbnails.
i bought one in the colour you chose too and despite being nearly £2000 worth i found it to be very disappointing vs my late 2011 imac with a SSD update i did three years ago.
Keep it coo 😂 and it's a pigeon 😂 love it
Thumbs up for the shirt; very coo.
Thanks for being so Coo!
Wanna know something funny my cousin did. she decided to buy the silver one but also bought a year supply of skins which she said will replace every month.
Where is she getting a skin subscription?
@@JerrySchulze what’s a skin subscription?
@@janettecarrell lol. I don’t know 🤷♂️ person above said a year supply of skins so wondering if it is a subscription or what.
I know but I was hoping you would recommend me a bag, the box weighs a pound more than the same IMAC.
lol....Interesting idea. I do not have much of a need for that but if I see anything I will post back.
very good point - did you find anything in the meantime?
Does it has a 120 Hz screen?
No.
@@JerrySchulze Thanks for responding man.
After a month it’s time too buy a new one right ?! Because off a month later ..
Absolutely!
Awesome & Thanks :)
Thanks for checking it out!

You’re totally right, silver is definitely the best option !! Waiting for mine to arrive 🙂🙂
Right on!
Seems you put out genuine info, real and honest experiences. I like it. Sub'd. Keep them coming. I love the facts and details but at the same time is not an infomercial.
I appreciate that! Are you planning on getting one?
When you buy a computer or car or new home the manufacturer could easily add nicer quality components and add the cost to the final product. Consumers would appreciate the product that much more also more sales
Why nit picking??? Why so negative?? I really like mine, no complaints. Very fast, great display, goods sound. Far time is amazing, full screen.
I think I was mostly positive on this and just making sure to mentions some of the potential negatives I saw. Thanks for watching.
I think he does a good job of discussing good with bad.
I think it’s awesome just keep your comments to your self

the soundlevel of the build in microphones was a bit lower than on the microphone you are using for the rest of the video and the sound signature a bit less full than your main microphone. I do however believe that people would not experience the sound signature of the build in microphones as being in anyway bad and I would not mind using it in a videocall.
Of course, I am using a $1000 mic and a high quality audio recorder.
Just not enough RAM for photo editing. Also seized up on occasion.
8 or 16gb?
I recently bought a 24" iMac for $2,400. When I got it home and unpacked it, I found that there were no instructions, and not even a packing list. So much for my gripe--Damn you, Apple. Anyway, what do I do with the Apple iMac 24" M1 ACDC Power Adapter with LAN Port? I know one end plugs into the computer, but what do I with the other end? Do I now have to add to the $2,400 tab and buy even more stuff? #$%^&**!!! (Sat Nov 19 2022; 2"03 PM)
