Thanks for offering these films for free on UA-cam. I think that as the true legacy and history of American and all human space exploration comes to light in the public forum, these films highlight well some of JPL’s real achievements within the public space program over the past few decades. I believe it is very important to retain this narrative, as there are far too many honest, hardworking folks at NASA and JPL for all to be knowingly complicit in the cover up of both extraterrestrial life & our military spacecraft fleets. Hopefully, NASA may, in the near future, join the ranks of those agencies and corporations which are truly spacefaring on their own terms.

It wasn't even (yet) good old cost-cutting Goldin that messed with Magellan? Such a incredible piece of luck that Cassini just about survived him. And his Boss of course. Learned about Nasa's time under him in the Book about New Horizons.
But the forced Shuttle launches for probes were a bright idea of his predecessors. Amazing that despite that 86 delay likely messing up Galileo, they got as much out of it as they did.
At least it was a lesson for Cassini. To give it a fixed antenna and to stop the Shuttle nonsense.

After the problem was detected, NASA created a commission to investigate, and the commission determined that the error happened at Perkin-Elmer, but NASA also failed to detect it in later testing. For radiation, there are 2 important variables:
      1. the radiation intensity
      2. the amount of time you are exposed to this intensity.
You can multiply these two and get the total radiation dose. Humans die if they receive a dose of about 300 Rad.
In 1958, James van Allen and his team discovered the belts that were later named after him. He also measured the radiation intensity. This is what he found: in the part of the belt where the intensity is highest, it is high enough that if you stay for about a week, you receive a lethal dose. So for the Apollo missions, the trajectory was designed to minimize the amount of time spent there. When the Apollo astronauts flew through the van Allen belts (which took about an hour), they received a dose of radiation of between 0.16 and 1.14 rads, or less than 1% of a lethal dose.

@@zounds010 Your saying ''the economy'' is, in itself, fallacious - it actually boosts local economies within specific districts where such equipment is developed and/or manufactured. I comprehend the nature of government spending being cyclical but I also see that certain political camps like to spend lots of money on, for example, ''defense'' because they know that weapons and their related tech are nearly exclusively developed and manufactured within industrial districts where the labor is and where their own voters are. There is also the issue of the intellectual property rights associated with taxpayer funded tech, such as in medical imaging. Do taxpayers see a reduction in the cost of using such devices? No, even though they paid for it and a governmental agency developed it, the rights to manufacture said machines do NOT then carry over and allow for any benefit to taxpayers other than it existing - which it would have anyway had they set out to invest DIRECTLY toward that end. We throw a lot of money into space and for very little ROI. Ask yourself what benefit could there be if we colonize Mars at the expense of the increasing disparity on Earth giving rise to WWIII. Just because you don't SEE the true cost of choosing space exploration over caring for the existing humanity on THIS planet doesn't mean that there isn't one. Keep your dollars. It is simply irresponsible to expect any humanity to be worthy of spreading throughout the solar system or universe which is unwilling to care for its own. If we colonize Mars before we've solved our problems here then all we will be doing is spreading our problems like any procrastinator does, ''Oh, we'll get to that eventually'', which only means ''Don't bother me, I'm being distracted''. It's insanity.

NASAJPL NASA : The speed of flight engines must be developed in order to travel between planets and stars, as well as for the
momentary transition between the countries of the world on planet Earth
Therefore, we hope that engineers will develop new plans and techniques for the manufacture of the engine device
    (EM Drive)
"In an ongoing effort to find a faster and more efficient way to place spacecraft on Mars, NASA’s Eagleworks
Laboratories scientists have made great strides in violating the laws of physics in this process.
In a peer-reviewed Journal of Propulsion and Power, Eagleworks presented a report on its findings reported on its
amazing results from experiments on electromagnetic propulsion systems (EM Drive).
    How Does It Work?
Using electric waves such as microwaves, these photons crawl inside an empty, copper, cone-shaped room, which
    produces a push.
In contrast, the ion drives used in NASA’s modern spacecraft create energy by injecting ionizing propellant (usually
xenon gas), as well as emitting charged atomic radiation. No propellants or exhaust enters or exits the engine,
violating the basic law of physics.
(We ask you to ask technicians and engineers to develop designs and innovations for the success of the project to
travel at the speed of light in order to turn science fiction into an enjoyable reality)
