  • We live in a dark Universe. Mysterious 'dark matter' seems to hold the cosmos together, but we don't know what it is! Join University of Cambridge astronomer Dr Matt Bothwell as we try to shed some light on what this 'dark matter' could be.
This is going to be an interactive session, where you'll have the chance to ask (and answer) questions -- go to www.sli.do/ and use the code 'dark' to join in!

Imagine a universe where all particles are dark, a very old universe, then bang a new one begins and expands into the old universe and its dark matter. Which adds to the energy like a fuel.

There's a much better theory called MOND. See Chae, et al, Testing the Strong Equivalence Principle: Detection of the External Field Effect in Rotationally Supported Galaxies, The Astrophysical Journal, 904:51 (20pp), 2020 November 20.

So, while MOND is an active area of research, the consensus of the astronomy community is that MOND still has serious problems, and still fails to explain all the phenomena which are currently attributed to dark matter. MOND often concentrates on galaxy rotation curves, but doesn't do a good job of explaining things like weak lensing maps, primordial element abundances, or the power spectrum of the CMB. All of which point to dark matter.
In fact, all MOND theories require a little bit of dark matter to work!
So while this is an interesting paper, and this line of work is worth keeping an eye on, rumours of the demise of dark matter are greatly exaggerated.

Dark Matter is just particles to small to reflect the light photon. Quantum gravity is created by the density of the heutron. There are only 3 dimensions what you are trying to explain is scale. Nuff said
