@@dannync95 Maatsen is a consistent 7 with a potential to be a 9, ie you'd likely pay 35m for an older player like that anyways, thus his potential and age are bonuses. Duran isn't a solid 7. He could be a 9, but we could end up with a 5. More risk means definitely not worth as much.

We going to get Caloforia mate. Not a striker. We locking down the defence. Goals wasn't our main problem. We scored more goals in the 2014-15 season when we won the league. The difference is we leaked goals. In context of last season Duran and Olise will suffice for now. Their next move is defense. Then sales and close down shop.

Exactly! It’s not like the strikers market is great. It also gives players like Jackson a chance to develop by providing healthy competition. Strengthening the defense (especially the left back position) is a top priority.
I dont get it, you guys want to have jackson, nkunku, duran AND another big striker for 1 position? Let jackson and duran fight for that place and nkunku play from left wing, if that dont work we have the possibility to put nkunku up front. Jackson scored 14 goals in his first season at chelsea and in the prem. Im pretty confident he can reach 20 goals next season which is enough if we bring olise. Front 4 of jackson nkunku palmer olise, there are enough goals to even fight for the title
Exactly so much attacking threat and we might play in a way that doesn’t need a big name target striker. Jackson did well and if he improves his finishing and less offsides he will easily have 20+ goals

Clearly they're looking at a few other positions and they won't be strikers. The names I keep seeing linked besides Olise are Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth), Aaron Anselmino (Boca Juniors) and Georgiy Sudakov (Shaktar Denetsk).

I think there is no way Chelsea buy Duran and then buy another high priced striker. I think it would be smart to give Jackson another year any way. Makes great runs, young, works hard, only first year in big time league, good passer. If he can clean up his finishing and get a little tougher on ball.
Play Jackson in premier and Duran in Europe comp. Or switch depending on performance.

It's the off field issues that will be Chelsea busy with Duran. There is history there. It will be interesting competition dynamics between Duran and Jackson who starts. FFP/PSR is driving the price. Villa is on the bubble. No more funds for strikers for now.

There will be two separate deals
No other striker is coming in if we sign Duran. Olise should be the next focus, and Nkunku, Jackson, and Duran will be the center forward options. So many people are sleeping on how clinical Nkunku can be in the false nine role, dropping deep and linking play.

My concern is that, with all of this talk of getting a striker, we forget that we have a striker who, in my opinion, will be a top striker. Jackson had a good first season and he hasn’t yet achieved his potential. Completely reminds me of Drogba when he first came to Chelsea and we know how that went….

Apart from the ridiculous price, are Chelsea doing this deal pre Jun30? Villa need funds by then per reports. I could understand us somehow being ok in PSR this year as is. But adding another 40m does not seem possible nor rational.
It would be great to sign Alvarez for CF, Olise for RW (or CAM), still hoping Araujo and Davies will come (although that's kinda unrealistic to think of) but if so, Chelsea will be a real concern for all opponents.

I think should negotiate for Duran but Villa paid 18m and if you shoot low we will end up with no striker again which would be a disaster. £40m is still a lot cheaper than other options so better just pay up before other teams come in and push up the price. Jackson cost 35, Palmer 45, Sterling 50. So I think 35 is the minimum and do we want to lose the player for the sake of 5 m. We are desperate and every seller knows it

If we get Olise, I am comfortable with getting Duran as well. I believe we have enough firepower up front to share the goal tally between them, which might even relieve the pressure on Duran and help him develop further.

Big name strikers tend to fail at Chelsea. Higuain, Falcao, Lukaku, Pato, Aubamayeng all failed. We shouldn't fall for the big name striker trap again.

The main reason Duran is going to Chelsea is too play, he's not going there too play 2nd fiddle like he does at Villa who clearly have Ollie Watkins as first choice & is hardly ever injured,it doesn't give Duran many chances to get game time,but when called upon he usually makes things happen. 😊

Strikers are generally more expensive than defenders. Even though Maatsen is more experienced and should be of higher value a straight swap with Duran/Maatsen is a good deal

In terms of striker i said this already days ago. Either we buy someone like Duran and keep Jackson as the Main Striker. Or we go for a "proven striker" and Jackson is our 2nd choice. Basicly the understudy(Jackson) gets an understudy(Duran) or our current understudy gets a master(f.e. Ivan Toney). Chelsea wont buy 2 strikers this window. It doesnt make any sense from the Clubs POV. You dont spend ~35mil on Duran and he gets almost ZERO game time. Even with 70 games the new Main Guy and Jackson would demand at least 90% of the game time.
I would love Chelsea going for a more experienced Striker. Promote Dujuan Richards from the U21 to the First Team. That kid is 1.90m tall. Got a good bodyframe. Is left footed and scored 7 goals and 1 assist in 11 games(637min played) last season. Thats one G/A every 90min basicly! We got him as a freebee for the Academy. Instead of wasting 35mil on a player likely getting the same amount fo minutes as a Dujuan Richards or heck even Washington.
